Had sushi delivered and it did not disappoint! Very tasty! Will definitely order from again

This is one of my go to delivery joints. They are quick and reliable and the food is consistently good. The chicken fried rice is really good here. Much better than most other places in albany. The sushi is good to go. Their special rolls have some fun combinations with lots of flavor.

Good Japanese fare and a nice setting. Friendly attentive staff. Far enough from downtown to avoid parking hassles. Would eat there again happily.

For our anniversary I wanted fine dining but hubby wanted BBQ. Hokkaido was the compromise. We always enjoy ourselves here. Not exactly authentic Japanese but we like it. This time some of my chicken was raw inside still so that was a bummer. I didn’t send it back because I felt full. Good food and nice restaurant.

Lackluster at best. I ordered the teriyaki salmon Hokkaido box and it was not appetizing at all. The teriyaki sauce tasted water down and my salmon was crunchy; yes, crunchy! The California rolls and the miso soup were tasty. That is it. Kudos for the adult size serving of plum wine to wash down the no flavor salmon.

Ordered 3 specialty rolls for delivery and was extremely impressed. Fish was fresh and the rolls were very tasty. Would order again, and recommend to anyone looking for some top quality sushi in the Albany area.

Their sushi is pretty good, but I really like they’re hibachi. They give you tons of fried rice, which is great if you’re trying to pull yourself together after one too many drinks. Filet mignon hibachi is particularly good.

My go to Asian place for take out. They have a lot of vegetarian options to choose from and pretty good service. I love their sushi and yaki soba noodles.

We picked up late on a Sunday night(9p) and it only took 15 – 20 to make. I got the Agedashi Tofu which was soft and lightly fried but soggy, I wouldn’t get these again. We also got Edamame which was very luscious, I would get these again. I got two rolls: Sweet Potato and Mango & Avocado. The Sweet Potato roll was good, I would recommend it. However the Mango & Avocado one, oh man. SOOOGOOD! This isn’t something I’ve seen before and I’m a vegetarian so vegetable rolls are all I get when it comes to sushi. I will totally be back for some more of that!

This place has very nice ambience and great value for money. Fantastic soup options for vegetarians, sushi options are plenty and very tasty main course dishes. Friendly staff and very personable. Definitely recommended if you are in capitol region

I’ve ordered from Hokkaido on many occasions over the course of the past year or so, and it has never disappointed me. The food is high-quality, the value is excellent, and the portions are pretty generous. I highly recommend the dinner boxes. They come with a main dish, rice, soup or salad(the salad isn’t good; get the soup), sushi rolls, shumai, shrimp tempura, and various deep-fried vegetables. Unless you’re a multi-stomached bovine creature, this dinner box will be sure to fill you up… and quite possibly leave you with some leftovers – all at a reasonable price. My only major complaint is that they don’t seem to have beverages available as an option when you order online(possibly to make it hard to hit the delivery minimum without going way over). They ought to fix that.

It’s all about the coconut chicken soup and their volcano salad. This is just the warmup! Big traveler and crossfitter. So I need my veggies and protein. Solid performance on their volcano salad! Love the avocados! Their soup was nice and sweet for the coconut. I’d add some lemongrass for a better flavor.

I love sushi and sashimi. Not to mention a blended seaweed salad along with a fun cocktail. Healthy is one thing. Combine that with fun and you have a winner. This restaurant does a great job of that right at their sushi bar. Not to mention it’s fun to watch the sushi chef put it artfully together. Skills!

Love this place; I’m here all the time. Boyfriend loves it too. The hibachi, especially the filet mignon, is consistently cooked to perfection; it melts in your mouth the way filet mignon should. The fried rice and vegetables are also very flavorful and never greasy, which has been a problem I’ve had at other places, but never Hokkaido. The sushi is also always fresh. You can tell just by looking at the shades of color of the fish. If you see dull, faded colors on your fish, stay away. But at Hokkaido, the salmon or tuna for example, is always a vibrant, deep color. In terms of appetizers, must-haves are the crab salad, spicy tuna tar-tar, and the tuna dumpling — all carefully prepared and beautifully presented. In terms of environment, the restaurant is always clean and the service is always friendly and welcoming; always greeted with a smile and very accommodating. I really appreciate that we’re never rushed out after finishing our meal. I’ve been to places that the second you get the check, the waiters come back every five seconds to see if you paid and glare at you if you don’t leave immediately. Here, you can stay and chat and no one will bother you. I saw some reviews that say that they had to wait a long time despite being the only, or one of few, people in the restaurant, but I think we need to keep in mind that they get *a lot* of take-out and delivery orders, too, not just dine-in. This place give you a lot of bang for your buck; prices are fair and portions are generous. They offer great lunch specials too. Bottom line, highly recommend this place.

Hokkaido was pretty good. I’ve had better Asian bistros in Albany but a groupon brought us here and they did not disappoint. We ordered a few speciality sushi rolls plus basil chicken. Sushi was fresh and tasted really good. I personally wasn’t wowed away by the sushi but it was still pretty dang good. The basil chicken was loaded with vegetables and big chunks of chicken but lacked a tiny bit on flavor. My friend ordered the pad thai which was BOMB. All in all, if you’re in the area and purchased their groupon, definitely worth going. 4 stars on cleanliness, service and food.

Another great meal last night from here. This time we picked it up instead of doing delivery. We had sesame chicken, chicken lo mein and pork gyoza. We loved it. They give you a free miso soup we could live without. My fav dish here so far is the chicken fried rice we got last time. It was excellent.

I was surprised because I thought it was a Hibachi restaurant but I didn’t see any Hibachi tables in the front. Which may be disappointing to some who are looking for the entertainment but I thought the quality and value was much better than other Hibachi restaurants in the area. The portions are HUGE. I could have have been stuffed from the sushi roll alone.

I was legitimately surprised to find this as widely and highly reviewed, I definitely did a double take to make sure this was the same place I’ve been to so many times. That being said, I’m glad our guilty pleasure has pleased so many. A couple of things about this place– you will have to overcome some mental hurdles before eating there. Once you do, the sushi and price will shine through. Before you actually make it through the door you’ll have to get over its random location in the hannaford plaza on central ave and the fact that there are no other cars in the parking lot besides yours. Once you make it in the door, you find a pleasant smoothly– purplish lit restaurant with basically no one in it. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations– no use turning back now. My husband and I use this as a our low key, mid-weekday, good value sushi go-to. We’ve had the volcano roll, the dragon roll the rainbow roll and a few others. Each time we get solid and satisfying sushi. One warning about this place: I would not recommend getting anything other than sushi. I had the pad Thai once and it was the worst pad Thai I’ve had. Just don’t do it. As long as you stick with sushi, this place has great value, is rarely busy, always has some sort of discount coupons floating around(we get them in the mail) and seems to have good happy hour specials. Just keep in mind that if you decide to venture outside of the sushi options, do so at your own risk.
