This was my first time dining at Hana and my first hibachi experience. I made a reservation online and didn’t even have to wait long to be seated. Our server was Kyle, he was very attentive, his service was excellent and fast. We ordered the Hibachi combo with chicken and steak, ordered chicken for the kids. The chef was amazing with his performance at the hibachi and my boys(3 and 1; not really patient when it comes to sitting) were really entertained. They loved the flames, the«water jet», onion tower«volcano». the whole experience in general. The food was amazing as well, cooked perfectly. The only negative is that they don’t have that many options for desserts, but that won’t be stopping us from visiting again. Definitely recommend it!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try somewhere different than our regular Hibachi place, so we decided on Hana. Needless to say, stick to what you know is good. When we ordered drinks, the waiter said they could not make the specific drink I wanted because they ran out of one of the ingredients. So I asked if they could substitute with something else, and he immediately turned around and went to ask the bartender, which took a few minutes. By that point, I decided I would just order something else. The drink was not good, and my boyfriend’s beer came out flat. For an appetizer we ordered the gyoza, which were just ok. For entrees I ordered the steak teriyaki, and my boyfriend ordered sushi. When my meal came out, I was super confused. I was thinking the teriyaki would be like a stir fry, but what came out was a filet of steak with 5 steamed vegetables on the side. Although it was not what I expected, the sauce was delicious and the steak was cooked fine. Later in the night, my boyfriend got violently sick. We will not be back.

Definitely good but short of awesome. The service is good and mostly friendly. We had a crappy table with a view mostly of the kitchen and the traffic of staff going by got annoying. The udon soup was nicely seasoned and the veges and seafood were nicely cooked. The noodles on the other hand crossed the line into gummy territory. My husband thought the hot and sour soup was quite good but rated the sashimi as boring.

First time eating at Hana and the hostess alone greeted people very warmly and friendly. Being an entertainment restaurant cooking the food with style and spunk, you will have a few good laughs. If your like me, laugh and blush at the same time. I loved the shrimp, it was grilled evenly and flawless. The chicken was alright, not much flavor. The noodles were soft and somewhat mushy but had amazing flavor. The lights were flickering a bit but unnoticeable due to the cook showing off and heavy conversation. I would love to visit again in the future

I went here for the second time last Sunday. The first time(years ago) I was not impressed. My food came out cold and it just was not at all worth the money. This time I was attending a friends birthday I got the Scallop hibachi. I was happy with the food and was happy with the service. I feel its still a little over priced but I guess your paying for the show. would go back again.

My friend and I had a reservation for the hibachi table 11⁄7 at 6pm. There was some confusion with another party and the staff tried to put us with them at a hibachi table when we found out they actually had more people than they originally thought. They took us back to the hostess station and were going to sit us with another party that only had 7 people when one of the people in that party got angry and refused to sit with strangers. At this point we had been waiting about a half an hour to get an official table. The staff had been excellent the whole time trying to make this happen for us. At this time the manager said if we would be okay taking a regular table he would provide us with a discount for the inconvenience and we agreed. Our server was excellent and the service was very fast. I give them a full 5 stars for trying so hard to make it work for us, being composed under the pressure of the restaurant being so crowded, the excellent food and drinks, and the friendliness and attentiveness of the server. This was my first time at Hana and it will not be the last.

We went with a large party for lunch, some choosing to have sushi, while others experienced Hibachi. Overall the food was adequate, but the sushi was not impressive, or overly fresh. The Hibachi show was staged like any other, but what really turned our meal to the worse was the overall lack of service at the restaurant. We dined in the later part of the afternoon, and had close to the whole restaurant to ourselves, yet our waiter was hardly ever around. We asked him why he was so unattentive, and were simply told, «it’s very busy». Pretty obvious this was not the case. Compared to other sushi places in Albany, this one is on the more expensive side, but there was not quality to match the price.

The hibachi is a nice experience if you’re going for a celebration, but what I’d really recommend is the sushi. I get the Angry Dragon roll every single time I go and always add on the miso soup. Their fried rice is also delicious. There is also a great variety of alcoholic drinks that each have fun names. The only downside to this place is the lack of dessert options(which coming from a dessert lover is a letdown).

Came in for hibachi with a large party. Hibachi tables were in the back of the restaurant. We had a reservation so seating was no issues. However, they only had 4 hibachi tables at the restaurant. I imagine on a busy night you would want to make a reservation for hibachi. One of the first things I noticed was the lack of fume hoods over the grills. The room has vaulted ceilings so I imagine there were vents installed up top. Didn’t seem to be an issue. Service was good. They had a nice selection of drinks for a Japanese place. Prices were about the same as any other Hibachi place. They do charge a few bucks extra for soup and salad, it seemed a bit ridiculous as the prices at these places are never cheap. I ordered the shrimp and filet combination. When the chef came out and started his«routine» I was a bit concerned for my safety. The spatula spinning was a bit out of control and unpracticed. Whatever, I’m not five anymore, as long as the chef doesn’t hurt me I can get over it. Food was cooked pretty well, filet was tasty and on par with any other japanese steakhouse. Our chef did give us all a squirt of sake, this was quite fun as we all cheered to see who could drink the longest. After eating it did take a while for desserts and drinks to arrive. They gave a 20 minute estimate on preparing coffee. I don’t think they even got around to serving it after the 20 minutes. One other thing to mention, it’s a bit odd, but there was a window in the corner of the hibachi room connected to the front desk. The restaurant phone must have been located right on the other side of the window. The thing kept ringing right behind our table and every time it surprised and distracted us from conversation. Would I return back, maybe. Definitely not close to the best hibachi experience I’ve had. Surely there’s a better place in the Albany area.

The Lady of the Hounds treated me to a birthday lunch at Hana this afternoon. I tried the hot & sour soup to start — a couple of fresh shrimp, 4 nice slices of scallop, fresh pineapple(that was a nice surprise!), and radish slivers in a clear broth laced with chili — delightful. The appetizer sushi — 4 nice portions — was served up simple and clean. I finished with their green tea mochi ice cream — a soft dough around that cold grassy center — divine: not too sweet, surrounded by a touch of chocolate and whip cream for an added a bit of richness. So the food was excellent and served up promptly by friendly waitstaff. The patio was nice but could have been cleaner, and there were a few more bugs/wasps than I expected — not sure what that was about, since it’s open and near a large paved lot. I’ll be back for more!!!

Surrounded by a few teppanyaki tables for hibachi and many regular tables and booths, this Japanese steakhouse is a good destination for enjoyment of typical Americanized Japanese fare. What I mean by that is there are no bowls of authentic Japanese ramen or rice bowls(don), no fried octopus balls(takoyaki) or savory pancake(okonomiyaki), no selections of grilled meat/veggies on skewers(yakitori) or Japanese curry. It is most definitely difficult to taste what I mentioned above all in a single restaurant but those are just a few examples of what is expected in more authentic Japanese restaurants. But sometimes the typical Americanized Japanese fare is satisfying too. The sushi and sashimi are amazingly delicate and fresh! The balance of rice and fish in the sushi rolls are appropriate. I liked the sashimi dinner with 18 pieces of fish which came with a bowl of brown rice(white rice if you please), chosen by the sushi chef and served on a modern and simple looking plate. I’m happy with the fact they offer both brown and white rice. In contrary I’m not too happy about the fact that the entrees don’t come with green salad+ginger dressing or miso/clear soup but rather at an additional price. I also frequent the sushi rolls in both the regular rolls section and Hana’s Signature Rolls section… particularly the Angry Dragon Roll: shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna, and spicy king crab. Although Hana’s menu is quite vast, I tend to stick with the sushi and sashimi here. The hibachi and box lunches(bento) don’t appeal to me as much. DO watch out for sushi rolls that list many sauces like mango, citrus, chili, or eel sauce. I think doing too much/overdressing is really a crime. Altogether I would say this is a decent place for lunch or dinner… happy hour specials are at the bar on everyday except Saturday 4:30 to 7:30pm!

When this place first opened, the ingredients were much better and the management had a strict attention to detail, after rigorous changes and budget cuts this is no longer even close To competing with koto. Koto is slightly more expensive but they always maintain high standards in and outside their kitchen, don’t be cheap and go to koto.

After hearing about this place a friend invited me for a birthday dinner there so finally decided to check it out. My dragon roll was great but comparable to ones I get at the local supermarket that makes fresh sushi. We sat at the hibachi table and while it was entertaining the room needs a little more ventilation as our whole party was dripping with sweat after sitting down for 10 minutes. Also they could expand their beer menu a bit. I got saparro cuz ‘when in Rome!’ Check it out but probably won’t return on my own accord.

Tip: If you want the hibachi be sure to reserve a spot ahead of time. We popped I on a Saturday at 6 and had to settle for a regular table. However we were not disappointed. I had the mango shrimp and my wife had the salmon teriyaki. We both would have the same thing again. However next time we’ll make a reservation for the hibachi which we always enjoy.

Came here for hibachi, ordered dinosaur eggs(which are technically fried oysters x12 with mango sauce on the side), spicy salmon roll and shared 1 hibachi combo(steak and salmon) order. Needless to say, the performance by the chef at the hibachi table was fantastic and engaging. Staffs were super friendly as well. It happened that it was the birthday of one of the guys at our table, they all sang for him and he got a free dessert of some sort. Overall the atmosphere was great! Bill came out to be under 50 $ for two people — not too bad!

Busy Monday night. We were 9 people at the habacchi. Salads are extra. The table next to us that was seated after was done before we even saw a chef. We had to call the waitress a few times for extra drinks. The chef was quite entertainingly. The sauces were sub par compared to other Japanese restaurants I have been to. The fried rice looked like it had veg all on top. The noodles lack flavor. The steak was tender and done perfectly. The scallops were salty but tasty.

Dependable. Good. I have been a couple times to the Hibachi. It’s good. Hibachi and sake last night was $ 40 per person. There’s nothing wrong with this place but to me, nothing special — would not go myself however it’s nice and I have a family member who enjoys it there.

Work group went out here one night for dinner. Loved the exterior of the place and it was very crowded which let me know that it should be very good. We sat in the Hibachi and took up two areas while the other side had a party with some older ladies. They were having the time of their lives from all of the whooping an hollering they were doing. Looking at the menu, there were some good hibachi choices as they have lobster, salmon and sword fish on the menu as well as noodles instead of fried rice as an option. I was a bit disappointed in the high pricing and the fact that you have to pay extra for miso soup or a salad. At that pricing, it should definitely come free as most hibachi places I’ve visited do. When the preparation time began, I could see an immediate difference in our two chefs. Our chef was definitely competent, BUT he was NOWHERE as entertaining or charismatic as the other guy. Being so close it was definitely noticeable by me and several of my coworkers. Lastly, I noticed that the portion sizes were different for me and some of my coworkers. I’m not sure whether I offended him or not, but I noticed immediately with my scallops, that I got one less than the other folks and the same went for the salmon. He gave me the first and smallest piece which easily could have been 25% smaller than the others. It’s not something to get too fired up about, but to get the smallest portion on all of the items was a little noticeable. Anyway, all in all it was a good experience. I’d go again if the group was heading there and it was being paid for, but I’d possible try a different place the next time if I was by myself or with family.

There is nothing like a great hibachi restaurant to get your mouth salivating! I’ve been to a bunch of Japanese steakhouses over the years and Hana is definitely one of, if not the, best. The service is excellent and the décor is really great. It’s definitely a classier place and one that’s perfect for a date night. Obviously the food should be the main draw at a restaurant and Hana does not disappoint. My fiancée and I got shrimp tempura and a pork dish that was served over fried noodles and they were both out of this world! Soooo tasty and some of the best dishes I’ve had in a while. They were paired well with some Japanese lagers and some sake and it made for a really great meal. Definitely stop in if you’re in the Albany area and enjoy Japanese food!

The set up in this place is really cool. Some hibachi tables and the sushi bar are on a small platform. Our waiter was really cool. We started out with pork dumplings, small but oh so good. I got the Honolulu Roll which was tempera banana, white fish, and avocado in a thai chill sauce… YUM. Although after about 3 pieces the sweetness was a little much. I also got my standard salmon roll with avocado, good of course. The soy sauce however was WAY to salty. My boyfriend got shrimp teriyaki, he said it was really really good. He also got a caramelized pear tea which was great. For the crowded place our food came out really quick, but not to quick as if you thought it was pre– made or you just finished your appetizer and hadn’t had time to digest a little. With all that and a glass of unsweetened iced tea, bill came to $ 54.
