You can smell the soul when you walk in the store. The food is made to order they even show it to you before you leave the store as a satisfaction guarantee. They have an amazing menu with your southern staples. From macaroni and cheese to fresh collard greens. The chicken smelled glorious. I cannot wait to bite into this slice of the south right here in Albany!

The inside of the establishment is a major turn off to the delicious food you guys offer. Great pricing for TRUE southern food. But the place is run down and DIRTY. Chair my friend had to sit in was broken, walls were cracking and terribly filled. Menus were hand written on stained paper in dirty clear casing. If you are going to have only three menus, at least make sure they are presentable. It simply looks like they let the place go. The young ladies who served me seemed to be the daughters of the owner, but had clearly not been taught customer service. I came in and wanted to dine in, but the youngest at the counter did not seem like she knew what to do. She simply told me I could dine in but the area where I was to sit was dark(lights were off) and she did not instruct me to have a seat or come this way or anything. She just stood there and looked at me. A bit of a confusing situation. The atmosphere was just all together confusing and not appealing in the slightest. If you want to have some great southern food, order from here, BUT call your order in, make sure it is ready, and then walk in to pay, and GETOUT. Otherwise, I’m afraid you may be disgusted. I mean do not get me wrong I was not expecting 5 star dine in experience, but when I purchased the groupon and saw the reviews I was expecting to dine in and have a nice delicious dinner. Food is EXCELLENT, big portions as always with southern or soul food, but PLEASEIMPROVECUSTOMERSERVICEANDENVIRONMENT.

This place is great! If you can get past the décor and condition of restaurant. This place is worth the trip and good for takeout only. Give this place a few years and they will become a landmark

CUPZ has Delicious soul/southern food. They catered my Mother-in-Law’s Re-pass dinner for over 100 people. They gave generous portions of chicken, mac & cheese, string beans & corn bread. Tasty, tasty !!! Absolutely out of this world old fashioned peach cobbler !!! I will be back there to order that peach cobbler again. CUPz was reliable & reasonably priced. Highly recommend !!!

Cheap. Solid southern cooking with ginormous portions. The staff is very friendly. Place is a bit smug, but we enjoyed our experience here.

The flavors here are so reminiscent of what I ate at my grandmother’s home growing up that it was a little unbelievable… Until I found out the owner/chef is from a county that neighbors my grandmother’s home haha. So yeah. It’s genuine southern food. Not the healthier earthy and grilled southern food, but the comfort cuisine. I’ve tried the following so far: grilled okra grilled cabbage mac n cheese sweet potatoes/yam casserole collard greens rice and gravy fried wings fried chicken smothered pork chop ribs swamp water Besides one time that the cabbage was salty, there food is awesome.

The food here is incredibly flavorful! I ordered the chicken breast dinner, which comes with 2 sides and rice and gravy as well. The chicken breast took up an entire Styrofoam container by itself. The fried green beans were so so good I’ve been craving them since. Also try the deep fried buttermilk biscuits with honey as others have said, amazing. Be warned the place is a total dump as others have also said, this does not in any way effect the way the food tastes so shouldn’t be considered I’m a review of the food, if it bothers you call ahead to order and get your food to go.

This place looks like a little hole in the wall but don’t be fooled by the location or the simple décor. These people are cooking at a level not seen in any other neighborhood place in Albany, maybe the entire Capital region. The food here will restore your faith in G-d. The fried chicken is perfectly cooked, crispy and seasoned just so, it melts in your mouth. The greens are phenomenal, which is made even more amazing by the fact that there is no pork used in their preparation. The okra is something that will make you reconsider traveling since you no longer need to go south to experience its divine flavour. The deep fried honey dipped biscuits somehow manage to be dense and fluffy at the same time. I’m going to have dreams about this place. If eating here eventually kills me because of the health deficits, I’ll gladly take that trade. If you haven’t been here and you live within 90 miles you are sorely missing out. Get here, and thank me after!

Yeaaah buddy this is really good food. Once you get past the décor it will be well worth it. The sides are the star to me! Mac and cheese great, greens great rice and beans great! Cornbread was more like a dessert. The banana pudding is just like my grandmas. Go check this place out! Think mac and cheese coma!

This must be the best southern food in Albany. Huge portions, too. I loved the seasoning on the fried chicken, which wasn’t greasy at all. I only wish I had gotten more yams. I had never enjoyed a honey fried biscuit before — OMFG! I was able to call ahead and order, and everything was ready when I walked in to pick it up. Checking out with my groupon was a breeze. The young ladies and manager were all super friendly. I took a menu home so I can keep coming back.

Made to order breakfast on Saturday morning…100% returning Tho décor leaves much to be desired(1 star loss), the focus is on the food. Genuine southern style sneak attack. Great meal(taste and portion) at great price. Like having family cook while having conversations in other room. If like Southern food(unhealthy and all), Just go.

I stopped in this place about 3 weeks ago after coming across their Facebook page. I ordered the fried chicken wing dinner. For the sides, I got the potato salad, collard greens, macaroni and cheese. The fried chicken was good and seasoned well. The potato salad was good. Mac and cheese was ok. The collard greens were good but a tad salty for me. Rice and gravy comes with all meals. If you’re looking for soul food, I would recommend this place.

I had a hankering for fried chicken this week, so I decided to check this place out. I got the dark meat combo, with mac n cheese and collard greens. And it came with white rice and gravy. My food arrived, and it was MASSIVE. And at the counter there is a varety of sauces(hot sauce, maple syrup, etc) to put whatever you want on. I put some honey and franks red hot on my chicken… and boy did it make it pop. It was awesome. My collards were also really good. I was a little dissapointed by the mac and cheese. It was pretty flavorless. But overall, I was very happy… and I am very full… nap time…

I popped in this little place after coming out of the nearby police station one morning(pissed off). My mood was changed immediately after experiencing the southern hospitality the staff offered. I ordered the wings eggs & grits, all I can say is WOW!!! The chicken was well flavored, the eggs cooked a little harder than I asked(but good just the same), and the grits was to die for! Creamy buttery flavorful grits… mmmmm my mouth is watering thinking of this meal. It was soooo good I ordered the exact same thing the next time I went… o it must be a next time!

I ate here for lunch following a recommendation from another Coworker and found the spot to be one of the hidden gems of Albany. The portions were very generous and the store owner and staff were incredibly friendly. I had the Fried Chicken Dinner plate which came with two LARGE pieces of chicken, rice/gravy, mac & cheese and collard greens. Everything was delicious. The chicken was seasoned inside and out and the food was very fresh. I also got a side order of the honey biscuits, which had to be the best tasting biscuit I have had in my life. I would gladly go there again.

If you happen to be visiting City Court on Morton Avenue, alleviate that pent-up stress at Cupz, the only soul food joint I know of that has a breakfast sandwich named after a sitting judge. Fantastic deep fried crab, backwoods rice with shrimp, collard greens, corn bread and peach cobbler, more than enough to serve three, for less than 20 dollars. Seriously, seriously good, and the people running it share your happy food dance when you take that first bite of crab dipped in their honey sauce. I almost don’t want to write about this place because, well, foodies.

The food reminds me of Sunday dinner at Momma’s house. Food portions are more than enough for the price of the meal. Highly recommend the fish dinner.
