A lifesaver if you’re staying in the neighboring Holiday In Express and in a pinch. The closest grocery store is the Rite Aid about half a mile away, but they close at about 5 or 6pm. I’m not sure what time Coulson’s closes, but they were open and had all the emergency amenities I needed at about 8pm on a weekday. Save yourself a trip to the closest CVS about two miles away.

Minus one star for the sketchy exterior, but plus four stars for everything else. Huge periodical section — what a thrill! And bonus points for the large selection of very recent paperbacks. Yay. Kind of grotty-looking, but with a heart of gold. Also, the woman working there was friendly.

You wouldn’t think so based on the exterior, but Coulson’s has the best damned periodical selection in the area aside from bookstores. Seriously. This is one of the only places aside from B&N, Borders or the Book House where I can find Bust magazine and several other publications. Every time I go here, I find some new magazine that I didn’t know existed. Sometimes the clientele is a little unsavory but the employees are always extremely nice. Yes, they technically are a «news and grocery.» But come for the magazines. My one complaint is that they don’t take plastic.
