I absolutely love Carter’s Grill! I had lunch here and it reminded me of my undergraduate days in Albany and the many Sunday dinners I’ve eaten there. This place has great southern down home cooking. For old times sake… I had the fried chicken, candied yams, black-eyed peas, and cornbread muffins w/lemonade. What a time! What a time! The flavor of the food is awesome. The fried chicken was so well-seasoned and the candied yams were sweet and delicious. Of course Martin was on the register and Mr. Carter was close by on his seat to greet all the customers and be certain that all is running smoothly. The chocolate cake was moist and glazed to perfection. Everyone raved about the sweet potato pie. If you travel to Albany you must go to Carter’s Grill!

Great soul food!!! Whenever I’m in town, I have to go by there for some desserts… I love the pound cakes & the peach cobbler!

I’ve travelled the country searching for fried chicken; Carter’s makes without a doubt the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. To add to it, Mr. Carter himself is a gem of a guy. I’ve driven 12 hours on a whim to go here.

Carter’s has been open since 1968. But today was the first day I had the pleasure of eating there and meeting Mr Carter. The price was under $ 10 and I think they still offer student discounts if you have an ID. It is your standard Meat and two country soul food. You pick what you want behind the glass at the counter and have seat, I can say that the food was excellent. But, the best part of the lunch was Mr Carter greeting you at the cash register with a huge smile on his gentle, elderly face. He makes sure you know how thankful he is that you have come there to eat lunch. You don’t find this kind of appreciation anymore. I’ll come back again just because of how welcome Mr Carter made us feel.
