I’ve been coming to Al’s burger for over a decade! I just wish it was open passed 8pm. It’s the perfect place to get food late at night and the burgers are so GOOD

Been eating here for years, since 1980, best Hamburgers in the U.S. Employees are so nice, the service is the best.

Best burgers in the area! I had a cheeseburger with fries and a shake. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the fries I really enjoyed the burgers and the shake. The cashier was really friendly and awesome :)

This place sucks. I got there 10 minutes before they closes and the guy almost hit me not to try to get in there!

I went here the other day because of the reviews and I was craving fish burger. The burger’s great, but the review is regarding sanitary concerns. The employees who make the food, they don’t wear gloves. Even the cashier, who takes the money —and helps preparing the food— doesn’t wear gloves. Yikes. With all the virus and sickness spreading around, it’d be nice to see that this spot starts to care about their customers by being clean and wearing gloves.

Old school, classic burger joint. I had the Al’s burger and the b.f. had the bacon cheeseburger. We shared fries & a strawberry shake. The tab was under $ 20, which was great deal, considering how expensive everything is in the Bay Area. Both of our burgers were juicy and delicious, and they put the other pricier, fancy burger places in the neighborhood to shame. We’ll be back!

This place is a local favorite for good reason! I love the atmosphere here. When you eat indoors, it almost feels like you outdoors because the walls are lined back to back with windows! So open and airy. It isn’t your usual stuffy, greasy burger joint! I ordered the steak sandwich and my mom got the chicken burger. Both were INCREDIBLE. The bun is perfectly toasted. Soft but crispy and not so toasted that it cuts your gums. Just right! The steak in mine was delicious and tender. Check out my pictures… LOOKATTHATGLORY! The crinkle cut fries and the onion rings are also amazing. I would eat these as a meal alone! Soooooo crunchy and they remain crunchy until the end. Solid, solid fries and onion rings. Not only is the food here amazing, but can we talk about the service? Such sweet and energetic staff! They truly give this spot a warmth that sets it apart from others. Next time I’m in the area, I’ll be sure to come back!

This place is such a cute little spot. It’s small, quiet and convenient. I come here a lot with my friend and we get burgers together. The last time I was here I tried their mushroom burger for the first time. The portion of mushrooms they give is pretty generous which is great. They cook the meat really well and it’s juicy. I really love coming here if I crave their burgers. I should show this place to some other people. I will definitely come back!!! :)))

Great burger, California style wrapped in paper with a toasted bun crunchy veggies and melted cheese, it hit the spot! We also had onion rings, fried zucchini, cheese sticks and fries, everything was really hot and tasty. The peanut butter shake was a hit too! The staff is super friendly and this place reminds me of our old high school hang out. This would be a great place to take a bunch of kids after a Little League game. It’s easy to see why Al’s has been in business for so many years.

Al’s Big Burger looks like and feels like a roadside hamburger shack. It’s not fancy, yet it’s not technically a fast food spot. Reminds me of the kind of burger joints we went to growing up in San Francisco. The burgers are flame broiled and typical of an old school burger stand. You can order fries, onion rings and milk shakes to accompany your meal. We ordered a couple burgers and split an onion rings, because that to me is a perfect comfort food combo.

Craving a burger? Or anything delicious? Al’s is the place to go! I got a double cheese burger(fat kid problems I know haha) but it was one of the tastiest burgers I’ve had in a long time. The staff are all super friendly and everything is prepared quickly and fresh! We also got the fried zucchini which was pretty delicious and a chocolate banana shake which I don’t think I even need to say but that was awesome too:) The space itself is pretty small inside but they have a bunch of tables outside and they’re happy to bring the food out to you when it’s ready. I’m a pretty hard critic and Al’s just made it to the top of my Berkeley burger joints list! Keep up the good work! I’ll be back:)

This place was busy when we went(for lunch on a friday) but service was still fast and friendly. The burgers are pretty big and I like that they cook em over a flame. Unfortunately their burgers are very dry =( It wasn’t bad just needs to be juicier. I’d honestly rather get a burger at burger depot that’s near by even though the patties there are pretty small.

The burgers are huge, the fries are crispy and the prices are reasonable. The local policemen eat here, so it must be good !!!

A very, neat and tidy place to get a great burger. Quality and ample toppings go with your burger, which I might add, is well wrapped! Krinkle Cut fries are a must, you’ll get enough for two! The prices are very good, I would recommend this stop before a chain store in the area.

Al’s has pretty delicious burgers! Mmm. It just taste like a «good old fashioned american BIG burger,» and I love that. The onion rings are big and crunchy and their milkshakes pair well with the burger and side. You can order over the phone or in person and the customer service is always positive and pretty much on point! I have never eaten at Al’s, always pick up order. For me, it’s a little too small and stuffy to actually eat in the restaurant, but hits the spot for a burger craving!

Wow, I used to come here back in High School, and it was a super great burger, all flame cooked over real charcoal. It never was a super cheap place to get food, like some of the fast food joints, but it sure was tasty. I went back here recently, just going down memory lane, and either my taste back then was not as good as it is now, or This burger place has gone down hill. I think it has gone through some ownership changes. The real Al was long gone even when I first went here, but I know people that came here in the 80’s and it was way better I’m told. The place more or less still looks the same. The prices have gone up, bit I guess what hasn’t. I got a cheeseburger and fries and a drink. Just this came out to around $ 10.00 bucks. Not exactly a cheap quick lunch. The burger is still flame cooked, but just seems the burger itself is just more ordinary, and the fries were just fries, not too generous with the portions either. Yeah, it was OK, but for the price, nothing to write home about, like it once was. Come here for an old school experience, but keep in mind the food is not the same as it’s glory days.
