I usually am able to shrug off rude or indifferent service. Especially if a place is good. But for some reason, the woman running this place really got to me. The entire time I was in the store, she was on the phone. Even as I was paying. And dammit… I had questions. How much are those whole cardamom pods? Can this dessert be eaten as-is or does it need further preparation? What is the difference between the 3 brands of garam masala? Can’t say that I’ll never go back here, because I have yet to visit the other local indian groceries. Let’s just say a return trip isn’t likely anytime soon.

The name is pretty self-explanatory. Until my most recent trip here, I thought the store’s office name was just India Spices. Silly me. It’s a pretty tiny little place, although it looks much bigger from the outside. There are a couple of coolers with a few things in, and a few shelves of chutneys, sauces, and prepared mixes. I believe they also sell Bollywood movies. But mainly they sell bags of spices at cheap prices. I found a huge bag of garam masala for $ 4.99. According to their business card, they also sell halal meat and frozen fish, but I’m not sure where it’s located. Maybe it’s next door in their other shop that never looks open? I have no idea. For most items, I prefer going to the India Bazaar nearby on Central Ave. But for spices, I like this place. They accept credit cards, and apparently they also take food stamps.
