I’m a fan of the store in Alamo. They have lots of fun stuff and pretty much everything a crafter is searching for. Wish they carried better oil and watercolor paints but I can order that stuff from Dick Blick half the price cheaper anyway. Recently visited the San Ramon facility — it’s roomier and pretty but not looking so much as a craft supply store — more a showroom. This location seems geared more toward ‘semi’ home decorating. Still haven’t figured out what they are trying to achieve yet. On the flip side, they do carry Daniel Smith watercolors, but very sparse selection, and double the price of most art stores. I will continue shopping on-line at Dick Blick or GSW for my art supplies.

This customer service is horrible, or at least«Pam» is not a people person! If you hate places that think your automatically up to nonsense since you are young, then this is not the place for you! I was just looking at the paint brushes and«Pam» shows up and says, «do not play with those paint brushes, this is not a playground!» Pam said. Pam would come and checks up on up about every 30 seconds. As I always say, «watch out for Pam!»

Very poor customer service. We had an unpleasant experience with the manager. Not very accommodating at all. Overpriced merchandise. I recommend you avoid if possible.

I love going to Richards. Best selection of frames around and the staff at the framing section is very helpful. I came in this week to get done frames for family photos and was able to find right what I needed and used my coupon too! Their home décor department has gotten better too with lots of fun accent pieces. Giving it four stars cause the checkout can get a little slow.

In January 2015, I took three posters to fit in frames that required the matting to be customized. David Casey did an outstanding job cropping the matting to fit the posters. He provided excellent customer service. I will be going to Richards for all future framing and crafting needs.

I was sent here to fill a list of supplies for an art class and found every item! Very«inspirational» store– full of wonderful ideas. Art supplies are expensive everywhere but coupons to this store are often available, often saving you 20−50% on one item. Parking is plentiful and help is available should you need it. This is a great local resource for your art supply needs.

This is a great local craft store. They have a pretty good selection. I especially love the holiday decorations and crafts. The prices are ok however, they always have 50% off coupons and pretty good sales. The customer service is good which keeps me coming back

Richards is so convenient being in Alamo Plaza. It has most of the important things you need from a craft store. It has a huge selection of frames. We were holding the memorial of my grandfather at my parents house and we needed a matching frame for may grandfather and grandmother. We found the perfect ones here. I came to this craft store ever since my family moved to Alamo when I was in the 5th grade. I love Richards. The salespeople are friendly and it has a neighborhood feel.

Owner was apologetic, said she didn’t let her staff know about the coupon. It happens! I still shop here.

There’s a second Richard’s opening up in San Ramon in July within The Market Place, Alcosta & Bollinger Canyon, San Ramon CA. Looking forward to it.

I try to give my business to the local small shops even though their prices are usually higher but I won’t be shopping here again. Went in a few minutes before they closed and was greeted with«We are closed» in a very rude tone by a woman working in there. When I pointed out that it was still a few minutes until closing time she continued in her rude tone so I concluded she would prefer I take my business elsewhere. That is what I intend to do. Hobby Lobby, here I come!

I found out about this place from the Paper Instructor Veronica.(Veronica is 5 stars all the way!) She is an amazing instructor! I highly recommend her card classes. I like little shops like these because they will have custom paper and sometimes items you can’t find any where else. They seem to run promotions similar to their competitors which is nice. And Veronica always has a discount for her students too! I love it!

Just got home from a wonderful 15-min shopping experience at Richards after being flabbergasted by how unhelpful Michaels was. The staff at Richards were knowledgeable and willing to help! Thank you, Richards, for helping me and my fiancé check off one item from our wedding to-do list!

Looks like a large store, but employees aren’t incredibly helpful in helping you find products. They are quick to say that they don’t have an item and are not willing to use their time to help find a similar product.

Richards is full of great junk! So many Christmas ornaments! The employees are nice enough, the prices are high but they always send out coupons and have lots of sales, so that’s nice. Crowded parking lot!

Richards is a fabulous local art store that offers a wide array of products. Yes… you could go to the chain stores — Michael’s or Joann’s…but why? Richards offers a 50% off one item coupon in nearly every weekly mailer and their staff is incredibly helpful. Occasionally you may have a cashier that appears to be thinking more about her Friday Night plans… but otherwise the employees here are super customer focused. I did take off one star for the haphazardness of this place, which can soemtimes make it difficult to locate specific items. While the items are always in the correct general area… the store almost always seems to be in some level of disarray. I can’t fault them too much for this, as much of their product is seasonal… so I can only imagine that their product turnover can be intense?

It’s ok and will do in a pinch but if I have time I’ll make the trip to Michael’s before coming to Richards. I know it’s a mom and pop place, so it’s not 100% fair to compare it to Michael’s but, this is Unilocal,so I will. It’s small, which isn’t a big problem, but I couldn’t find all the things I was looking for, and I am not crafty. I was looking for some pretty basic stuff(ribbon, craft paper, single hole punch, etc). Their prices are also much higher. So, in a nutshell. I’d go back if I was in a pinch, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
