Quantity and QUALITY! Cheap price compare to sushi house! Definitely coming back again!

Their sushi are pretty decent price but not as good as all the reviews has been saying! Tried this place for the first time and i got a few rolls, their sushi weren’t fresh at all. Their ingredients probably had it out for a few days, I threw up after a few hrs later with a very upset stomach and my friend has the worst stomachache ever! NOBUENO!!!

Service here was amazing. Our server Sean, totally goes out of the way for the customers. I’ve been to yo’s several times and you’re supposed to go order at the counter and they call u up when your food is ready. But he was taking people’s orders at the table when they didn’t know, bringing out food to us, and checked up on us several times– like a real sushi restaurant! Plus he looked so cheerful and happy to help! I’d come back here just for that, the food today was alright. Satisfied our sushi craving. But I’m more likely to come when I think we will get the same friendly server! :)

Love this place, love Yo Sushi in general. Unlike the Fairfield location, Alameda Yo is a lot bigger. Clean place, friendly staff and of course their sushi is DELICIOUS! My favorite is Alien Brain and Double Tuna(which they no longer serve in Fairfield). The Alameda is also yummy, as well as their tempura udon. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving sushi in the area.

Excellent sushi. Great price. Not much décor, kind of fast food feeling but much cleaner.

Decent quality and price for sushi/Japanese food. The servers are very nice. I had a chirashi bowl and it came with soup and salad for $ 13.95. 12 good pieces of sushi and tamago. Most chirashi bowls don’t come with the salad so I was really happy that it did, I’m a sucker for that carrot dressing. The sushi wasn’t AMAZING but it was fresh and hit that raw fish craving I had. They also provided pickled daikon and cabbage, complimentary hot tea and water. I will be coming back! They also have ramen here now, so I am curious to try it.

We dined at Yo Sushi today based on the Unilocal 4 star rating. It’s a really cute café in the Marina Village strip mall. The server/cashier was excellent. Very helpful. Prices seemed too low for quality sushi but we decided to try two specials anyway. The were presented beautifully but the freshness of the fish was suspect. Starting with the fish temperature. It was tepid rather than cold. Not appetizing for sushi. The nigiri pieces were quite large but didn’t taste very fresh. One hamachi piece was separating and just didn’t look right. I’m always suspect of sushi restaurants that prepare the dishes away in the kitchen, rather than in an open sushi bar where you can see the fresh fish and watch the preparation. No sushi bar here. All food prepared away from the customers view. We will try Yo Sushi again the next time we are in Alameda, but I will order my fish cooked, not raw.

Yo Sushi is gonna save Yo Money. Sushi was good and noticeably cheap! We ate a bunch but didn’t have to spend a bunch. We got 8pc Salmon sashimi and the slices were nice and thick. It’s very fresh and I’m very appreciative of that! The udon hit the spot since I hadn’t had anything soupy in a while. The rolls I got were the USA roll and the Crispy Deluxe roll. I enjoyed the USA roll and would recommend to raw salmon lovers. However, I wouldn’t say the Crispy Deluxe was as good. But if you like fried rolls, This may be the roll for you. I still ate the crispy roll, it was not bad not great. Prices will have me returning when I’m in the area.

Angry lion roll — it’s one of the best things I’ve had in a long, long time. It’s a baked roll topped up with baked salmon pieces, crab meat and fish roe. The place is unassuming, nothing fancy but the food there is delicious, if you’re checking out the Alameda antique market nearby — definitely recommend stopping by there for sure!

Solid 4⁄5 I went here because my GF recommended it and was craving for some sushi that didn’t break our wallets. Food: 2.5÷3 It’s hard, because we’ve had such great sushi back in San Diego, we haven’t been able to find our GO-TO spot up here. I do have to say I was extremely happy with this Salmon Sashimi. It tasted fresh, which is kind of a surprise considering that it’s a chain fast food sushi place. Anyway, the rolls were good. We’ve tried so many but I wished they had more rolls with raw fish on the top or tempura crunchies that would add another dimension to textures of the rolls. Make sure to take a look at my pictures! Service/Atmosphere: .5÷1 Service was good, but the atmosphere was kind of weird. It isn’t bad, but feels like a fast food restaurant. Very casual. For my GF and I, we like to sit down and order when we go out to eat, and at this location, you can do that. They will give you menus and the server/register clerk will come take your order when you are ready. From the times I went to this location, they are always nice and attentive. What’s kind of weird is that they play Korean music videos on their TV screens.(That’s totally fine since most sushi restaurants are run by Koreans now anyway— AM I RIGHT!!!). Im not too bothered by the atmosphere because I’m mostly here for food and service :-) Value: 1⁄1 They give you a good amount of food. For the prices they have everything at, I would say it’s a good value. Most rolls are around $ 7-$ 9 I believe which is totally do-able. I’ve been to places where rolls are $ 15. I can’t do that… my wallet is too small –_-;. Conclusion? Yup, until we find another go-to location in the east bay for sushi, this is going to be our spot. Pretty good food for a good price with good service. I would recommend it!

It’s a smallish sushi restaurant in a plaza in Alameda where I stopped by to grab a late lunch after Alameda Flea Market. We had 4 rolls and followed Unilocal recommendation we ordered Angry Lion Roll which was pretty awesome! Overall i will give it 3,5 stars — not a real fan, but would eat here again if I am in Alameda.

Affordable and quality sushi in Alameda, right next to Lucky’s, plenty of parking spot in the mall. There are also plenty of tables inside the restaurant, I guess it is quite popular because it was packed on a weekday night. I have had their rainbow roll and lion prince, both are pretty good. The lion prince was slightly warm(maybe it wasn’t baked long enough?), which is a strange temperature for sushi. I am used to either cold sushi, or the traditional fully baked lion king. The fish in the sushi is pretty fresh and I like the sushi in general. I have also tried their bento box, but those are average. Service is GREAT! the young guy taking your order at the register is nice. One time my friend ask if they have kimbap(the korean sushi), which is kind of silly at a Japanese restaurant, and the chef from the kitchen came out and explain to us the difference of kimbap and the rolls here, and told us we could try a close substitute instead! Yo sushi is a solid everyday sushi place. I particularly like the family-style feeling and that the staff take their time to help the customers. My new favorite sushi place in Alameda!

I have been to Yo’s before but in Vallejo. The one in Alameda is similar to the one in Vallejo as of food and drink selection, but the one in Alameda is much nicer and not as crowded. The restaurant is very clean and has cute decorations on the wall. There’s pictures of the rolls on the wall to help you decide what you want and they also have a happy hour menu. I believe you can order your food at your table or you can pay for it first at the register. The cashier/waitress was very friendly and giving suggestions to some people who didn’t know what to order. I ordered miso soup, the crispy roll, the Philadelphia roll, and the lion king roll. The food was just alright. The rolls are BIG! I had a hard time eating one piece, but it was fine with me because I like to have more food for what I paid for. The lion king roll was probably the best, except the top sushi was a bit burnt. I scraped off the burnt parts and ate it. Other than that, this place is just OK. It’s a good place to go for cheap fast sushi when you’re craving it. I’ll probably come back though and try the other dishes.

Love this place. My family and I come here a lot. It’s not very busy when we go which is a plus, and staff is attentive. We always get the jalapeño shooters(delicious!). Their rolls are hella good. Pricing is good for everything. Can’t say it enough, love this place.

I’m so surprised that this restaurant is actually part of a chain! I come here every couple of weeks just to grab some lunch. It’s quick service but great quality. I’ve ordered their udon, which is a pretty basic but«gets the job done» kind of entrée. I’ve ordered the chirashi/sake don, which was actually impressive, considering I had no idea what to expect! A good balance of good quality/good quantity here. No fishy smell, and no upset stomachs after eating their raw fish. Their rolls are yummy, and I’m surprised that they aren’t more busy. It’s kind of a small place but I think that it’s underrated. I have come here at least 4 times in the past month and half, and it’s always impressed. I personally think that this is like a hidden hole in the wall in Alameda.(I also love Sushi House!) It’s nice not having to wait in lines(ahem, afore-mentioned!), and having quick and attentive service as well.

I still stand by what I said in my previous review. My brother and I LOVE this place! They have happy hour specials too! On the happy hour, «Fantasy», «Deluxe Cali» & «Deluxe Crispy» are really good. VERY friendly and helpful staff. They have really cute shirts, and if you buy & wear them to their restaurant, you get a free fountain drink! Very good prices compared to other sushi restaurants.

I read reviews of this place and I wanted to try this place for myself. We stuck to the cooked dishes and have yet to try the sushi or sashimi dishes. As we were seated, we were welcomed by the cashier/waiter and he was very attentive. We ordered the two item dishes so we had the beef teriyaki and gyoza, chicken teriyaki and tempura and beef teriyaki and tonkatsu. We were served miso soup which was hot and hearty. The little daikons in the bento box were cut up in little pieces making it easier to eat. The price was reasonable for the two item special only $ 8.95. Their menu has a great variety of dishes, teriyaki bowls, donburi bowls, udon, ramen as well as all kinds of rolls. Chicken teriyaki was tender and juicy, beef teriyaki was sliced thin but alittle on the dry side but everything else was tasty. It looks like we have a new place for lunch!

Gave them a second shot. My mistake. Fish was warm, grainy, and most pieces in the chirashi were very fishy. Rolls were PACKED with lots of rice and not that much fish. Prices aren’t really that cheap. One star for friendly service.

The short: good place to get sushi for sub-$ 10 We were looking for a place where I didn’t have to pay more than $ 10 for an entrée. Lately, I’ve been paying more than $ 10 for food that’s not great, and I miss the days when the total came to less than $ 10. Well, here’s Yo Sushi. As you walk in, there are pictures of the rolls on the right wall. The pictures have little cranes to depict what kind of roll it is(raw fish, deep fried, spicy, etc.) Order from there for the rolls and head to the cashier to see the menu up above for options like appetizers, nigiri, teriyaki, noodle and rice dishes. There’s also a small version of the rolls menu on the counter next to the register. I ordered the: — Crazy Monkey: big roll with unagi, salmon, cucumber and rice that tasted funky and was tightly packed. I prefer rice that complements the inside contents, not create a flavor of its own. Not bad, but could use improvements to make it even tastier. Also fun and interesting to have kpop music videos playing on the tv. This is a place where you go up to the counter to place an order and pay, and then they’ll bring your food, though they didn’t ask for my name. I was confused because I later saw people paying after they ate… Service was speedy. The lady rang up my order fast and our food came out fast. Tip: Credit card purchases for orders above $ 10 only.
