Someone on another review said the koi fish were being abused, but from my observation, they choose to cluster and get cozy with each other. I came here twice today. I really enjoyed the vermicelli with fish bowl… twice. It was lettuce, with sliced cucumber, cilantro, bean sprouts, onions, a big piece of fish, noodles, fish sauce. It was very tasty, obviously since I ordered it twice. They squeezed some lemon in my glass of water which was unexpected but I like lemon. The restroom was clean. Update Unfortunately I think it’s due to lack of patronage, causing slow turnover of food, but my son got a very bad stomach ache after eating the chicken the last time we went there. Stayed home from school the next day because it was still hurting. Too bad because I liked their food.

Got the runs when coming here. Knew it wasn’t going to be good because my stomach started growling in the middle of dinner. Ordered the porkchop, shredded pork, and egg over rice. Nothing tasted spoiled and I have an extremely strong stomach. Wife ordered the phở and my mother in law ordered the bun(vermicelli) with no apparent problems.

Would not come back here ever again. There were so many little flies flying around my food and the phở in general wasn’t anything special.

Vegetarian Phở: The Vegetarian Phở was not very good. The actual phở noodles weren’t too bad. The soup had no flavor. The vegetables weren’t cooked very nicely. Vegetables with Tofu, and a side of Rice: Good flavor. Actually enjoyed this dish. It did not come with rice, which should have been included with this dish because there is no way to each it without rice. Apparently a scoop of rice costs two dollars and it was not even cooke properly. It was hard and not very good, but it made a good match with the sauce. The restaurant was medium sized and not very crowded. We were the first ones there. The waitress seemed to hate us, but I am not sure. *Vegetarian meat is not Vegan

Horrible … Take a drive to Oakland for better quality dishes… Peanut sauce watered down with corn starch. Freezing cold inside the restaurant … Staff even wearing jackets and sweaters. Requested grilled pork chops … Received bits of pork. Not good. Won’t return… disappointing…

I continue to love the phở here. The broth is so smooth and tastes great. Like I’ve said before, the menu is gigantic. If you’d want anything vietnamese, I’m sure you could get it here.

Eaten here a couple of times and the food is OK Last time I was there I was looking at the ‘pond’ they have in the back of the eating area. I though it too stuffed with statuary to be really ‘tasteful’ and then to my horror two beautful koi struggled by. They were at least each a foot long and were swimming(unsuccessfully) through 8 inches of water, with only half an inch either side to move enough to stay alive. I dont know about you but this may me want to vomit. Called the Humane Society and the werent open, left a message but was advised by the police to do this Unilocal review… Seriously people do you want to eat in a place where the ‘décor’ is fish cruelty? Not me. YUCK! PS I really hope this doesnt send the owners into a koi destroying rage. Think I’ll check on them every day for few months until they get their act together

I love the Phở here. It’s one of the only places I get it. I like how you feel tucked away with the décor and dim lighting. Grilled chicken Phở is perfect for cold days or when sick.

Starting off a few things were a little rough. The menus had something sticky on them like none of them had been cleaned in weeks, service was«short» with responses, and when directed to a picture of an item we ordered it wasn’t as shown. But as for the food pretty mediocre but with enough sauce it came out ok. Nothing fancy but prices was the best part.

pretty good phở place. i guess they so successful they have multiple locations. i like this one. decent prices. big portions. phở is flavorful. make it spicy. turn it red. add lots of sriracha. only way to eat it. haha. never try anything else at phở places. just phở tai! im a happy camper. what makes this diff from other phở places is the americanized waiters. they speak pretty good english. good service. normally asian places only expect good food and bad service. but pretty good here. so i like. sometimes they close for weeks for family vacations so make sure you check to make sure they open.

Really great, reasonably priced Vietnamese food with a good atmosphere and attentive service. The phở is why I come here usually — its the best in Alameda in my opinion. But they also have good appetizers and rice dishes with a ton of options. I definitely reccommend coming here for dine in or take out.

Very good beef/rice noodle phở. Excellent broth. Many wonderful flavors… lime, cilantro, thai basil, bean sprout, beef, chili pepper. So abundant and satisfying! Also, very beautiful fresh spring rolls wrapped tight with pork and shrimp. Fast and friendly service. Will go again.

Ordered: Phở Tai(to go) Overall: Pretty good. A little oily, but full of flavor and super satisfied. Disclaimer: Anytime I have as little as a tickle in my throat, my go-to cure involves three things: lots of water, theraflu and some delicious, spicy, flavorful phở. Works every time. Started my routine today as a sore throat had me out of work. Stopped by Tu Tai 2 because it’s blocks from my house and I didn’t feel like going to my usual spot(Sidestreet Phở). The other Unilocal reviews were a little spotty, but I thought, «Why not?» The broth was delicious and full of flavor. As I got to the bottom, I realized how oily it was, but I still slurped it up. Steak was super super thin — which I love. They gave a hearty serving of hoisin and sriracha(mixed together). Please note: cash only unless the bill is over $ 15.

As a vegetarian, I am thrilled that they have such a substantial vegetarian sub-menu. However, when I visit with my meat eating friends, I find that I have gotten less variety and quantity of food but pay as much as they do. The vegetarian prawn and tofu hotpot is all brown, does not look appetizing. The flavor is rather one-dimensional. The banh mi is more expensive than most places. Bottom line: not a good value for vegetarians.

Came here on a whim and so glad we did. The phở was delicious. Love the broth. Good portion for the price paid. Around $ 8-$ 9 for a bowl. Just one size. I especially love the vermicelli bun dishes. HUGE portion with plenty of grilled pork. Must get. Egg rolls were good too. This place is not busy at all. Other reviewers are right about the loud owners but that doesn’t bother us. At least the food & service were good. That’s all it matters. Also glad it’s not too far from where I live… will come back again.

Cool spot when your looking for some quick Vietnamese food and don’t want to travel to Oakland. Food is good, service is good and the restaurant is clean. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 is because I am spoiled to the Vietnamese food in Oakland which is just as good if not better at much lower prices. If you take away the fact that I’m being a cheapskate over a few bucks, then this is a good spot to go to.

Authentic beef Phở! Love their sugarcane shrimp &BBQ pork over rice is delicious. Imperial rolls are good, not greasy but more Chinese type wrap than other Vietnamese places, but i really love any type of fried egg roll. We love love love the owner, she is one hardworking lady that Ms. Sabrina. For the last 3 – 4 years, she always remembers to pack our son a non-spicy sauce for his phở… and just the most genuinely kind soul with a great smile & warm welcome. This is another Alameda gem.

Came in here for lunch with the bro on the day I was moving… so to say that we were both starving… was an understatement… The place is dark… like really dark even for an afternoon! It doesn’t really scream«come in!» I mean it looks so mysterious from the outside that the bro didn’t even know that it existed to begin with! We came in and thankfully other people were inside eating… there was only one lady that was working… and it got a bit busy since it was lunch… and it took awhile for her to come get our food. Food: um… I ordered the grilled pork platter… and it was swimming in oil… yeah… I mean wow… wow. I picked through it… but was definitely turned off with the oil. The bro got phở and it he said it was just okay… there were barely any meat in there just noodles. Service: remember the one lady… in the middle of our lunch… another lady came in and oh man… attitude galore! At that point — we just wanted to get the hell out and probably never come back. Go at your own risk… from the sounds of it… it’s a hit or miss it depending on what day /what night /who’s serving and probably who’s cooking! But remember… there has to be at least some consistency in there…

Let me start off by saying, my only experience w/Vietnamese is my crush… JK!!! I have eaten Vietnamese food in San Jose, SF, Oakland, LA, Westminster, Garden Grove, Fountain Valley and San Diego, so I hope I know what good Vietnamese food tastes like. I came here w/my Mom, sis and niece for lunch and we ordered: Goi Cuon($ 5.50) — The shrimp was nice and fresh, but the sauce lacked the flavor I am accustomed to in So CA places: 2 Stars Phở Ga($ 7.50) — My niece said the broth was really good and came w/a ton of chicken and noodles: 4 Stars. Phở Ga Nuong(7.95) — Again the broth was really good. The grilled chicken was nicely seasoned and the meat was tender. The noodles were fresh, chewy and plentiful: 4 Stars. Tom Rang Muoi($ 11.95) — Salt/pepper shrimp. The shrimp was fresh but the seasonings lacked the punch I am accustomed to for the same dish at Chinese restaurants: 2 Stars Bun Ca Nuong(8.25) — This dish had a nice portion of fish that was fresh and nicely seasoned. The vermicelli noodles were nice and soft and the portion was quite large too: 4 Stars. My sis indulged and ordered the Che Dau Do(for you Filipinos out there, it is kind of like a halo-halo) — a dessert w/shaved ice, candied fruit and all kinds of other things that are bad for you. I had a taste and it was pretty good — a little thinner compared to a halo-halo. But my sis really enjoyed it and she eats as much as me. BTW, she is more than a foot shorter — LOL: 4 Stars. This place was good in some respects, and not so good in others. However, the service is good and the ambiance is nice. It is a good alternative to not driving to Oakland or SF. I will def stop by again when I visit my Mom in Alameda(adjacent to Oakland).
