My mom has lived at Sunset Home for the Elderly for several years. I searched for a long time, trying to find something in a good price range, clean and in a good neighborhood with caring and understanding caregivers. I found all that and more at Sunset Home. There is plenty of street parking which is definitely a plus. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how pleasant the caregivers were and how immaculately clean the house was and how it smelled fresh… or didn’t smell like some places did that I went to previously. I took a tour of the house and there is a nice front and backyard and the rooms are good sized and neat as a pin. Just a nice, good homey feel when you walk in. Needless to say, I got my mom in and she loved it! The caregivers are so patient with my mom who has slight dementia, doesn’t speak much English, is set in her ways and of course is slow moving. Meals are good there and they celebrate birthdays with a party and occasionally go out for picnics at the park during nice weather. I have to say it is a family atmosphere there. My mom loved how everything she needed was already anticipated for her. When I pick my mom up to go out for lunch or to a doctor appointment, she is dressed, any medication necessary is packed and she is ready for me! If you are searching for a place, I highly suggest you check this place out and give the owner, Eleanor a call. She’s a caring woman and it shows. Even if you think this isn’t the right place, not the right cost, not the right area for you, please don’t judge until you have seen the place or spoken with Eleanor. I had visited about 2 dozen places in the Bay Area so I knew what a gem I had found in Sunset.
