This dentist was very green when I first went to her a few years ago, and the composite she applied fell out almost immediately, and I had to pay for it again, she wouldn’t budge. I see that she has improved but was amazingly unprofessional by her rudeness, even though I was as calm and pleasant as possible. I ended up taking up with a different dentist after this awful experience —but not after I was honest enough to tell her that she must learn to be nicer and more«professional» with her patients in the future.

Once I got dental care I’ve been here multiple times. Friendly staff and my mouth feels the best it has been in years, it could seriously run a marathon.

I’m a paranoid mofo ! Especially with my health. I searched the entire East Bay for a dentist. I looked for 5 things. Education/Track Record Personality State of Practice/Number of patients Attitude of Staff Condition of Office/Equipment I literally would open my insurance provider directory, check the back grounds of each dentist online. If they had more than one complaint or pending review on the medical board, SCRATCH. If I called the office and the receptionist was rude, SCRATCH. Then I would visit the ones that passed unannounced and would tell the office staff I was a potential new customer and would like to meet the dentist. If they were rude, SCRATCH. If the office was ugly with peeling paint SCRATCH, If the waiting room had more than 3 people in it, SCRATCH. If the equipment looked like it was bought pre-1990, SCRATCH. Finally if I got to meet the dentist and he/she was nasty, smelled, had bad teeth, or was an ass, BIGSCRATCH. I researched over 100 dentists this way in the East Bay, put off tooth care for 1 year. Out of all those dentists, Dr Puen was the only one that made the cut. It’s a small practice. She’s the dentist, Her sister Jessie is the hygienist, and Heather is the receptionist. The are all wonderful. The practice is run out of the second story of an old Victorian in Alameda. Always parking on the street, never a wait of more than 1 in the waiting room, and it’s open late on some nights for working stiffs like me. Also it helps immensely that she’s hot ! Go to her, she’s a great dentist. If I end up having to move I think I might ask her to marry me so as to improve my chances that she’ll come with. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — - Concerning the 1 star review above… Hmmm. Let’s review some things shall we ? He has 3 reviews, he joined in Feb 2008, and seems very whiney. «Thou dost protest too much» Maybe he wasn’t loved as a child, maybe Dr. Puen politely deflected his improper advances, or maybe he’s just bitter about being picked last in dodge-ball. I say ignore the review and visit her to see for yourself.
