OUTSTANDINGEXPERIENCE! I will use them exclusively from this point forward. Thank you.

These guys are great. I am very new to sailing and, even though I had done some research, was a bit anxious about purchasing a new main. Don was great in working with me through the process, explaining different options, and making recommendations based on my experience level, boat, where I will be sailing most of the time, etc. And, he was not making recommendations that drove up the price of the sail. Very honest, patient, and knowledgeable… could not ask for more. I look forward to doing business with these guys for many years to come.

The folks at Pineapple are great, I have nothing but good things to say about them, particularly after a recent transaction where they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. I am on my third set of Musto foulies and, by my last count, my fifth pair of Dubarry shoes and boots. all purchased from Pineapple. The folks here care that you are satisfied and getting the performance you are paying for. They are all sailors and know, only too well, what it is like to be on the rail in a 30 kt breeze with an ebb chop! That is what I love about small family businesses! Just try and get this level of quality and service from the chain stores. As for you Mr. «$ 180 sailing shoes!?» one-star reviewer… If you don’t want to buy the best don’t blame the dealer who cares enough to only carry the best! I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for. I used to buy cheap sailing shoes… and my cold, wet feet paid the ultimate price. $ 180 is not a bad deal… that is, of course if you want the best… if you want leather sailing boots that are water resistant and breath… if you want a sole that grips year after year,(wet or dry!) Sorry, but Dubarry are the best and the extra coin pays off every time I sail. If my feet could type they would be writing their own review… wait a minute… here is my left foot now.“dsj/csd’vanvndsnvS”(hmm…told you they don’t know how to type, I think he said…“Dubarry is good boots” or something similar) We should all thank our lucky stars that there are still family run businesses like Pineapple who are active members of the local sailing community and don’t peddle junk. Thanks Pineapple!

The issue that I had was with the purchase of a Dutchman system, that cost twice the quote and didn’t come with any instructions/assistance. On top of that it was a bad recommendation, as the leech is too big for a Dutchman. It was after I tried to get help with the product 1 year later that I received«the cold shoulder» and was basically told to do the work myself or pay some unreasonable fee to get the lines installed. The repair and battens were fine. Burning me on supporting the $$$$$$$ Dutchman is what prompted the single star. Hopefully this is more clear, as I don’t want you to think I’m an unreasonable customer. I was just *$#@% OFF at NOT getting support for a product that should have never been recommended for my sail. It wouldn’t surprise me that you don’t have a record of that interaction. I will say that was 2 years ago, and hopefully an isolated incident for your business. I’ve cooled off since then, and I can appreciate the attempt to clean up your record. So I’ve updated my review to 2 stars. You’re Welcome.

Anytime I need sailing gear, I first go to Pineapple. Kame and Sally never hesitate to answer my questions and they always bend over backwards to make sure I’m satisfied. Recently I purchased a Spinlock Deckvest from them. I had some unique issues with the PFD, all the result of me being bigger than I should be… wink wink. Kame took time out and worked out a solution. They also offered to make the straps longer, but instead I went home and took care of it. I’ve also purchase several sets of Musto HPX foulies from them. I still regularly race in the 10 yr old set. No leaks. No problems. It’s expensive but well worth the money. I would not hesitate in recommending Pineapple to anyone.

Great sailmaker, great folks, and the only sailmaker in continuous operation for almost 40 years. Have bought dozens of sails across 3 boats and over 25 years and wouldn’t do it any other way. Can’t go wrong here. Very helpful, designed and made right in Alameda, and you can even get the actual sailmaker who designed and built your sail to go for a sail with you.

Pineapple Sails is a first class organization. Kame and Sally are great. They always go above and beyond every time I deal with them. They have always been extremely accommodating and gracious. I have a hard time believing people having anything negative to say about them. The gear is expensive but well worth the $$. The sails are great too. Whenever we need repairs, they are efficient, thorough and extremely fair. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

I purchased a complete set of Musto foul weather gear from Sally at Pineapple Sails this past November…2009. After much discussion I decided that the MPX line, jacket and salopette would suite my needs… and $ 1000 later I walked out thinking I had bought the best from a local merchant who would back up their merchandise rather than from a catalog. WRONG! I’m an active sailor, roughly 150 days a year, sailing around the US, on and offshore. I was assured that this gear would serve my needs by Sally. By January I called to let her know that I was not happy. I was wet, cold and my chin was scraped by the collar which didn’t zip closed… By April I was done… went to the boat show and was passed of to the Musto rep who told me… well…that jacket really isn’t good for anything… REALLY??? $ 500 is pretty expensive for a jacket that isn’t good for anything, is not waterproof and requires 4 layers in 65 degrees. At this time the zippers are all broken, the jacket zipper opens from the bottom when I’m wearing it. The velcro doesn’t stay closed. I’ve been told to send it back east for evaluation and possible repair or replacement. That is a minimum of 2 weeks. What am I supposed to wear in the meantime? So…my 6 month old $ 1000 worth of Musto gear is worthless and the customer service from my local dealer is even more worthless. I received better customer service from the catalogs. I’ve written Musto and plan to complain vehemently. But shame on the local company that lets local sailors buy top dollar gear and doesn’t back up their merchandise when it falls apart in 6 months. God forbid I had purchased sails from them… EGAD!!! Stay away from Pineapple Sails…
