Okay, I stand corrected… I was hungry and I decided to give Olé’s another try. Had a really cool waitress named Delores, who is very down to earth. The other three waitresses were very pleasant as well! Had the Tiffany omelet with spinach, ground beef, mushrooms, grilled onions and American cheese… I ate that wholllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllle omelet! It came with a side of very creamy grits, toast, and I had a hot chocolate(with a mountain of whipped cream) and juice to wash it all down. I will definitely be back, but I will avoid going there on the weekends from now on.

«Waffle House is just right around the corner» said no one ever in the Bay Area. When asking about where I could get a late night bite, my employees laughed at me. One of them told me there was a place on Alameda that served waffles. I was intrigued. After explaining to them the difference, my heart sank knowing there was not one around. Then, sometime last week, I decided(since I got out of work at a decent time) to come here for breakfast. I had never really been on Alameda, so I was glad I got to drive around and see the cool little downtown shops. When I saw this place looked like it came off of Main Street in Memphis, TN, I was excited(FYI, if you have never been to Memphis, I used the reference as to the amount of vintage neon signs that still light up the area) to try the place out. I was hungry, I probably could have eaten one of everything. I didn’t get a waffle though(damn, they were expensive, like they use gold leaf batter or something!). I got something that I have never had before that stuck out– a Texas omelets– which was covered in chili. It came with toast and hash browns. As I was waiting, I noticed this place reminded me of an old school place back in Alpharetta, GA(where I grew up) — called Alpha Soda. That kind of made me home sick. I definitely appreciated the atmosphere here– my favorite part about the visit. When I got the food, I was excited to dig in. My coworker got a bowl of chili. He made a comment how it tasted like it came from a can. After trying my omelet, I knew exactly what he talking about. It technically killed the flavor of the eggs. I was starving, so I ate it all. Unfortunately, it was still disappointing. The hash browns were OK(I should have gotten more of those), and the toast was the best part of the meal. Helped me get the chili taste out of my mouth. It was time to go, so we got the check and paid up front. It was $ 40 for a disappointing breakfast. I had to apologize to my company for putting that money towards a bad cause. I guess you live and you learn… Maybe I will come back some day to see what the $ 9 waffle is special about… The service was friendly, but kind of sporadic. It seemed everyone who worked there was a zombie… Maybe they had a case of the Mondays… Also, I noticed they only had street parking, but not knowing the area well, I am sure there has to be a garage or a surface lot nearby. Since It was MLK day, the metered parking out front was off…

I always have raved about the breakfast experience but lately the food and coffee has not been up to par. Maybe just a temp glitch I hope. The attention to detail has not been reflected in the food served.

I love this place, been coming sense I could remember. Food is always bomb but a little pricy and the line is always long, so come early am on the weekends.

Atmosphere was definently vintage and very eccentric. Staff were quick and friendly but we found the price of a 2 person breakfast to be a lot for some waffles. Nothing to rave about food wise. Staff is definently great! Pricing is over priced but many folks come into this place.

Just your average diner. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here, the food is okay but that’s why people probably like it here because it’s simple, basic, and normal breakfast food. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and it was mushy. Usually if done right, it should be served crispy with just the right amount of gravy to not soak all the way through. Also, my hashbrowns were soft which is my biggest pet peeve. Soft hashbrowns=deal breaker.

I can see why this place was so famous. I hear that people line up around the block. Being that its in Alameda, its one of the only shows in town. My family totally enjoyed everything about their breakfast. I had a pecan waffle that was good and I ordered a side of corned beef hash. Being that I don’t like onions I was pretty disappointed that it didn’t mention it in the description on the menu. So that was the only strike I have against this place.

Absolutely delicious food with excellent service!!! There was a long line of people waiting for a seat but it is so worth the wait. Didn’t wait too long after we were seated to get our food. This place is the best! People never stopped coming and to me that says a lot!

We expected a line because it was a popular breakfast day(aka the weekend) so no complaints about that. Boyfriend ordered the Chicken and Waffles(not on the menu but you can order it) and waitress said it would take 20min to be ready. Exactly 20 min later and food appeared! Chicken was very tender, waffle very crisp, boyfriend very happy. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, hoping to get a taste of my Texas favorite. Not quite the same… not fried enough maybe? The accompanied sauce was deliciously on the right track though. Service was great, despite the hectic morning and the amount of hangry people waiting near the door, our waitress was friendly and attentive to our entire experience.

It’s not bad at all, tried all kinds of sea foods for the first time and it was awesome, you can even ask chef to cook stuff for you if you feel like its not cooked enough I’d definitely visit this place again.

You need to come here although there is no need to wait. It’s like going back in time so it’s more about the nostalgic experience than good food. I will be back. Chicken Fried Steak. This is good and you should get it. I do like a good CFS and this was definitely a great choice. The gravy was the perfect consistency and, for me, only a delivery assistance device for the meat. The hamburger was boring and devoid of flavor and just a bit on the grisly side. The breading was just right so I can get over the meat. Pecan waffle. She got the waffle and unfortunately killed it with syrup. She did say that, even through the syrup, it was very pecan flavored. Almost too much so but that fits the period. Service: Excellent. We were immediately greeted and told to find an open table. When we did sit down everything very clean. I think that if you arrive when it’s crowded you may have to wait outside so don’t come on a rainy day. The coffee was not the best. I’d suggest going to Starbucks first. It isn’t bad like St. Francis Fountain in the Mission but I’ll get water next time.

Overall, a pretty good place to grab waffles. We both had a waffle with bacon and eggs. It was all very good. The waffle was big and crispy, the eggs were cooked well, and the bacon was a little crispier than I like it, but it was also fine. The seating situation is a little odd as there is no hostess or seating list. You just kind of stand awkwardly in the doorway and wait for the busboy to call out the number of people who can fit at the tables he’s just cleared. The staff were polite, and seemed to have good systems down to get everyone in and out in a reasonable amount of time– especially as a line started to form out the door and down the street! Again, nothing to write home about, but not terrible either. Just a nice place to grab a waffle.

This is a late review, I ate here in February for breakfast. When I pass by Park Street during brunch time, I always see a long line outside the store. This made me have high expectation for this place. However, I was disappointed. The servers work at snail pace, we stood near the door waiting to be seated for over five minutes when it was not even busy. After we were given the menu, nobody bothered to take our orders, instead, we saw the waitress chatting to a customer from a nearby table. Finally, after almost ten minutes of waiting after we have decided what we wanted to eat, the waitress finally approached us and took our order. I had ordered a waffle with fresh strawberries. She then proceeded to ask me if I wanted whipped cream on mines, which later turned out to be an extra cost on the bill. Food took forever to arrive, for something as simple as a waffle. The only reason why this review is two stars and not one star is that the food itself is pretty decent. The waffle was crisp but soft in the center. The strawberries were sweet. However, I thought that the service provided could be so much better. I felt like what we encountered was not justified for what we paid for. Will not return in the near future.

Friendly service in a diner atmosphere. Had the French toast plate with linguisa and over easy egg. I was impressed with the French toast, I have to say. I actually would’ve finished it if I weren’t trying to undo the damage I did with holiday feasting. Loved the fact that the syrup is served warm! Coffee was better than I expected. If I had a craving for French toast, I would return. If you enjoy a laid back, no frills breakfast place, this will hit the spot.

Now I know why there are lines out the door! The waffles are fantastic, portions are ample, and the wait staff are attentive in spite of the crowds! Bacon is delicious — slightly smoked and meaty. Diverse staff and clients — makes for a warm, welcoming environment.

If you like waffles that are lightly crisp on the outside and melts in your mouth you’ll like Olé’s Waffles! I’m a So Cal gal but every time I visit Nor Cal I always stop by Olé’s before I leave. I always order the Waffle Combo which comes with 1 egg, bacon or sausage, and of course a waffle! I love this combo because I get a little bit of everything. It gets very busy so I just sit at the counter.

Went here with the family on a Saturday morning for a late breakfast. I heard this place was very popular, and from the line out the door I’d say so. The wait was a little long, and you’re seated at the the next available spot based on your table size. We were a table a 6 so we had to wait a while, that was the only thing I wasn’t a fan of since it was really warm out. Once inside it was also a little warm at first as we were seated in the back room which is open to the kitchen. But conversation over good food, made me forget about that. I really like the fresh orange juice, as you could see them pressing oranges in there large juicer. That’s near the front of the restaurant when you walk in. And the food for delicious, and everyone left full. I would definitely go here again if in the area, not sure when that’ll be as I live in Sacramento and was visiting my brother and sister-in-law. Who live in the area.

This place is delicious! Small little old school diner feel to it. There’s typically a line outside(first come first serve basis) so plan accordingly. Plenty of street parking within 1 – 2 blocks from this place. The waiters were very friendly and was in no rush/pressure for us to order right away. After ordering, the food came within 10−15min. The food was amazing. My girlfriend and I ordered a lot of food and almost ate it all. Their pancakes were nice and fluffy and topped off with warm syrup, perfect. The hash browns couldve been browned longer, they were a bit soft. Overall, this place is an awesome place for brunch! Definitely coming back.

I love Olé’s! This place has been around forever and it hasn’t failed me yet. Sometimes you have to wait in line to be seated, but the line usually moves pretty fast. If you sit a the bar you don’t have to wait in line, but you do have to get the courage to cut the front of the line to go inside to see if there are any seats at the bar. Soon as you’re seated someone is ready to take your order for drinks. I always get coffee here because hot coco doesn’t have free refills. The orange juice is freshly squeezed :-) . Yesterday I ordered the Waffle combo with Strawberry and whip cream with an extra sausage patty. The waffles are wide, but they’re flat like a pancake. The waffles with the combo is fine because you have the eggs and the sausage to supplement the size. I wouldn’t order the waffle along because its just not enough food. Their menu has traditional american breakfast and lunch, and its made hot to order. Olé’s is a diner that has the real homie feel. You can sit at the counter and watch the guys get bizzy on the grill and hear the hussle and bussle in the kitchen.
