The food was just ok, the tables were sticky, the water cups were dirty, the service was terrible, and to top it off… I was forced to pay a tip! I’m currently sitting in my car feeling sick after eating here.

I was super excited to try a new place on the Island with such good reviews. Tonight I stopped to pick up take out. I tried to order mu shu chicken, and was told they didn’t have mu shu chicken — so I asked if they did mu shu vegetables, and they said yes, so I ordered it. I got home and hmmm, no pancakes, no hoison… and a dish of plain mixed vegetables, with chicken. Tasty, but not what I ordered and paid for. I called them, and they said«sorry, too bad» but when I asked if I could bring back the food for a refund, they refused. Also, they no longer deliver. So sad. I had high hopes, and the food seems a cut above the usual Island Chinese fare, but I frankly felt really ripped off when they refused to make it right. Edit: They called back and offered to make it right. I’m giving them another star for that, because the food was tasty, but I won’t be returning — sending me home with a dish completely different than what I ordered is not something I can get past.

Kitchen of Alameda had been a welcomed addition to the Webster selection of food. Although many locals were sad to see the closure of Mama’s Chicken Noodle, Kitchen of Alameda has it’s own highlights that make patrons become regulars. This is one of the few places on the island that you can pick up roast duck or roast pig. Though the duck is okay(especially after you’ve had the duck at Gold Medal in Chinatown), the roast pig is definitely exceptional. It is a go-to order for my brother-in-law and sister when they aren’t sure what to order. I like their duck noodle soup since the duck and the broth are what really makes or breaks the dish. I also really like their house pan fried noodle dish. If you order it to go, they put the crispy noodles in one container and the sauce and good stuff(bbq pork, squid, fish cake, veggies) in the other. I’ve only eaten in once but the server was very attentive. For all my to go orders, they have always been done within a 10 – 15 minute time frame and ready for me when I pay the cashier. They also have a private parking lot on Buena Vista but it normally fills up around 6 pm on weekdays.

Really good, afforable authentic Chinese food. This place is our family go-to(we get carry out often). Don’t miss their salt and pepper chicken wings served with a ginger sauce on the side, chicken noodle soup or the combination seafood chow mein. They deliver. They have parking available. And the staff is super friendly. Enjoy!

Service is really great! I called in to make a reservation for 12 and they were very accommodating. Great people! I came in and they greeted my party and I, they were so friendly! We ordered two Peking duck, two shrimp fried rice, tofu clay pot with vegetables, two salt and pepper porkchop, crunchy noodles, and honey walnut prawns. It was all delicious and huge portions! MYFAVORITE was the duck, it was fatty and a lot of meat and it was CHEAP(19 for a whole?) other places duck would be around 30! This place was delicious! –1 star because they didn’t have much variety on the menu

We decided to come here since the restaurant we wanted to go to was hosting a wedding. Big mistake!!! We were seated right away but it took a while to place our order. We had to flag down the waiter. The table was so disgustingly sticky. The food was ok but expensive for what it is. The same food would’ve costed us less than half of what we paid here at a fast food Chinese spot. Definitely won’t be returning. Go to Burger King down the street instead! And another thing — we ordered soup. Most Chinese restaurant have someone dish it up for you with one arm behind their backs(not sure why.) Not that we don’t mind serving ourselves but we noticed they didn’t do it for us but they did for the table next to us. Why???

Rude is the only take away I can say about this whole dining experience from the wait staff. The two waiters are totally asleep on the job and their face, attitude and performance show they hate their job. When ask about the menu item, cannot explain even the simplest thing about their offering or how they prepare it. Member of my dining party have food allergy and dietary restriction so we asked just to be safe. If you don’t like your job then don’t do it. Menus, utensils and plates are thrown onto the table. After the food is deliver to the table, I can somewhat understand why their lousy attitude. The premade food was okay like the BBQ Pork was good(The only bright point in the whole experience). But anything they have to cook inside the kitchen sucks. Either the food product was about to go bad or was covered up with heavy sauce or garlic. There is so much to complain about this restaurant it is not even funny. The extra star is for the BBQ Pork. As far as attitude and value, it would have been negative star territory. Good luck.

Great price, really OK food, and only one mistake on the order… So, good, I guess? It’s just too cheap to complain, but lots of little irksome things. And who puts lettuce in fried rice?!?

Randomly stumbled upon this place tonight! We’ve tried a lot of Chinese Restaurants and by far this has been the best! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the table was sticky/not the cleanest. I’ll probably just order togo BUT I will be back!

I’ve had pretty good luck with the quantity and quality balance with the dishes here. There is a small parking lot in back(a definite plus in Alameda!) and tvs inside playing sports. A solid place to get some Chinese.

We come here all the time! Delicious food, fast service, good prices! We usually get some type of noodle(chow mein — pan fried, chow fun), salt snd pepper chicken wings, or won ton mein with roasted duck or soy sauce chicken. Old school Cantonese dishes… comfort food! There’s an early bird menus from 3 – 5 pm, certain dishes $ 5.25 plus a drink!

Finally, a good chinese restaurant that is super close to me. Granted I live 5 min from Chinatown, having to go through the tunnel each time sucks. With Kitchen of Alameda, it’s conveniently close with a parking lot and always very quick with take out orders. Their menu is pretty standard Chinese«comfort» food– jook, crispy noodles, won ton noodles, peking pork, mongolian beef, salt and pepper spare ribs. Rather than using junk mystery meat like other places, the quality and flavor seems to be better here. I haven’t had a dish I didn’t like, my all time fav is the beef tomato pan friend noodles, so gooood! I’ve only gotten take out here a million times and they’re FAST. I haven’t actually eaten inside so can’t attest to the restuarant itself but thumbs up for the food!

As far as neighborhood restaurants are concerned, this traditional Chinese restaurant has it down. The dishes on their regular menu is relatively basic. But great thing is if you call the owner Timmy, he will customize your menu for you! You can order special fishes and Australian King crab when in season with advance notice. That is awesome! Last night, we were their for our traditional Chinese New Year dinner with the extended family. It is customary for the Chinese to celebrate as a family at the end of the year and the beginning of the year. As all the adults were handing out their«lycée», aka red envelopes with cash in it, the food keep rolling out! So good! My two favorite dishes were the free range chicken salad and the steamed Dungeness Crab over sweet rice. My kids are it all in minutes. Besides the food, parking is also very convenient. The once complaint I do have is the service. The waiters and waitresses are definitely not your typical 5 starred restaurant service, but then again we are not at that type of a restaurant so I’m ok with that. Bathroom? Not fancy but doable. With that said, definitely a go. Check them out. Bön Appetit! Until next time, ciao!

I found the service and food to be more than adequate. It is clean for a Chinese restaurant and service is no frills but that’s OK since there’s no mandatory gratuity for a large group like at more fancy restaurants. If you’re unhappy with the service, then you’re just hard to please. No matter how hard you squint, Alameda will not become SF. So, please return to your perch atop the peninsula, the East Bay might just be too down to Earth for you. Back to the food. The portion is not as big as I expected, but it’s good for the price. This is a Chinese BBQ diner. As such, people should not expect the most authentic or best tasting dishes. You would hold their BBQ items to a higher expectation. In that regards, I found the BBQ items to be comparable to other BBQ restaurants and superior to supermarkets. I would consider returning the next time I’m in Alameda. +1 Star: Friendly and efficient staff, clean tables and environment. +1 Star: Easy parking in back +1 Star: Good tasting food, way better than Panda Express +1 Star: Price. You can’t find more authentic Chinese or better value in Alameda. Chinatown, which is a short drive down Webster, is serious competition for this place. However, they take credit cards so if you don’t have any cash this restaurant is worth checking in.

The food here is ok. The duck wonton noodle soup was filling but didn’t have any flavor. Their chinese version of the bento had broccoli, kimchi, salmon, rice and orange. The salmon was deep fried and did not specify if you wanted deep fried or grilled and the rice was a bit over watered. I’m not saying that everything on the menu is bad. Now the orange chicken was very delicious and a must try if you ever eat here. The servers weren’t attentive. We needed to get their attention for more water and napkins.

1÷18÷15: This is an update to my previous review where I expounded upon the virtues of having Truly Authentic Chinese within the neighborhood of the Alameda, where such food would be very unexpected. Well, I’m over the revelation that such a thing could exist there, and still survive – now I find that it is quite the possibility that I would be a «regular» there, and thus I probably really should be more realistic… the food is good, but nothing special when compared to peers outside that island city… 1. B.B.Q. 2 Items(with Roasted Pork and Roasted Duck) $ 11.95: The term«roasted pork» can be confusing in Chinese restaurants as it could either mean the reddish dyed«bbq pork» or the fired to a crisp hanging-in-the-window side of pig with the crisp skin. Well, to diffuse the confusion, I am happy to report that their definition is indeed the awesome hanging pig with crispy skin! In this case the pork has perfectly fried skin – not hard like some places, and still light but crunchy. The problem was that it was cold. The duck was good too, but pretty typical. Also a little cold. The duck I don’t mind so much, but fried stuff really needs to be hot to be great. Also, $ 12 is really expensive for this type of combo found in many Chinese restaurants, but usually it’s closer to $ 8 – 9. So… 5⁄10. 2. Braised Lamb in Special Sauce $ 9.95: This would be the same dish found in many other Chinese restaurants under slightly different names, often as a «hot pot.» It would be lamb with fatty skin braised in a greyish slightly chalky soup. Various tofu types would be used, but in this case«tofu skin» is used, along with water chestnuts and some other vegetables. Tastes like most other places, with a good portion of meat to vegetables. 5⁄10. 3. Beef with Bean Sprout Chow Fun $ 7.95: Pretty typical. Marinated sautéed sliced beef with the ½″ thick and flat rice noodles. Cooked pretty well, but slightly under-seasoned. A good helping of the house hot-chili sauce helped with the flavor. 5⁄10. So, got some traditional Chinese dishes today and it was all pretty average tasting. Nothing offensive, nothing wowzers. Probably gonna come here pretty often because it’s convenient. Hmmm… it also just occurred to me that they didn’t give us the free awesome soup I had from last time. Perhaps it’s only a weekend thing? Dunno. 3⁄5. #chinese

For hearty portions, this is a good spot for lunch or snack. We ordered #148 Beef and Soft Tofu over rice, Sauteed Pea Sprouts, Scrambled Egg and Shrimp Satay Sauce Chow Fun, #137 Roasted Pig over rice, and Watermelon Juice. All very delish! The roasted pig had no bones and very lean, melts in your mouth!

The food came out super fast, but was not super good. I had beef stew won ton soup, and I didn’t like the egg noodle too much. The wontons were good, but the beef stew seemed artificial. The house special noodle soup was nothing about beef and fish balls with egg noodles. The scallop egg fried rice was not bad, but felt like it had a bit too much oil and grease. The greens with garlic was ok, but super oily though and runny. Overall, it was fast service, but not my favorite.
