Do you need a strong sound system to move you? This club has the stellar system that makes you feel like you’re front and center at a concert hall. *Try the Bartender’s signature drink to get you ‘right’! *DJ Electro puts the work in to keep you on the dance floor! *Security keeps the drama out! Trifecta!!!

Went to this place with a friend after dinner just out of curiosity. This place give Webster a bad name due to their customers who are immature, loud, drunk and obnoxious. The staff were nice but the patrons made the experience horrible. The music was way too loud and the place got hot inside to the point it become uncomfortable. There were patrons outside showing off by yelling and screaming without regard to the people who live on Taylor Avenue. I suppose people who live on that street dread the weekends. I feel really bad for the employees at Nations which is located right next to club as they have to put up with the extremely loud music to the point the building vibrates and obnoxious customers. If you are looking for a classy place to dance and just have a good time without drama, this place is not it.

This food truck is the best Jamaican food in the bay. Plantains are succulent. The service is amazing and the guys in the truck are super hot. Definitely coming back!!! 5 stars! Six if I could.

Lord, when will this place close! Again the scourge of the earth was out last night. It was hot last night and boy the heat brought such stellar patrons out of Alameda’s Island Paradise club. They were taking over Webster and Taylor, not letting anyone pass, trying to fight anything with a pulse, and every word uttered needed to be censored. The security people who«work» there are worthless. Went to get a burger at Nation’s next door and barely made it out without an altercation as the female patrons are so insanely juvenile and jealous that if their hookups look at any woman under a size eight, they lose their minds. These trashy people make Alameda super ghetto, they have zero respect for the people who live and work here, and clearly themselves. If you have any kind of respect or morals stay away from these less than human parasites. Really wish I could give a — 200 star rating.

IPC has been around for a while, first time I went was back in 07 or 08. Pros: good vybes, drama free(Alameda police don’t play), management, & Bartenders are cool, strong drinks, decent music mix, bathrooms are decent(but small). They also have many different reggae/dancehall artists that come out & perform(check the calendar/site). Cons: Small place, small dance floor, no air circulation(once it’s crowded).

Nice staff. .. that’s the only pleasant thing I can say. The DJ sucked!!! If you say it’s Reggae night PLAYSOMEREGGAE. .. all we got was obnoxious dancehall & reggaton all night. How about some Peter Tosh, Alborosie, Gregory Isaacs, Bres Hammond. .. ANYBODY with the last name Marley??? Yes, after I gave him a list he played 2 songs but dang we were meeting people and had to wait when we just wanted to go listen to some REGGAE.

Cons: Small place, crowded when it gets packed, drinks go for $ 10 and up, small dance floor, not a lot of tables, tiny bathrooms Pros: nice staff, good music selection most of the time, you can find your own space to dance of you don’t want to squeeze in on the dance floor, drinks are strong, people are chill most of the night(I leave right before closing or as soon as it closes, no hanging around afterwards). Saturdays is older crowd less people but happy vibe. They’re just there to dance and get out of the house. I actually had a better time with the older crowd(45+) than the regular Friday night crowd(no guys constantly bugging you).

What a blast! Went there on a Friday night with the Ms and had a great time. We love Reggae and the atmosphere that comes with it. Many may be put off by the low tech décor or the bathroom that is way to small for most, but other than that, this place rocks. The bar is not top notch but met my drinkin needs. Beware! the music is loud as hell. My ears were ringing for days and my legs were sore from hours of dancing. Happy i went and will return. Ladies, no outfit is to risky here no matter what size you are.

I was really speechless at some of the reviews Ive seen here… I just LOVE to dance, I LOVE music and I know how to have a good time just about anywhere I go. sure, going to perfectly decorated club would be sweet but Ive gone to some«up scale» places and had a horrible time. Yes, the crowd is older… its small. there is a 2 drink minimum… the bathroom is the size of a closet and the music might be a lil out dated sometimes but DAMMIT after a full work week of dealing with drama this is a nice way to un wind, at least for me. Ive gone to just about every club in the dt oakland area that plays reggae and had a good time at each one. I dont pay attention to the weight or age of some of the ladies in the club or what they do after it lets out. As long as no one disrepects me, everything is everything! I would like to warn ya about the drinks tho, Im no lightweight but i will admit that I have to nurse these drinks. I normally can get away with 1 and a half on a good night. Being that I have to drive all the way back to the south bay, I usually chug water or fill up the rest of my tab with red bulls. bottom line: Me and my gf can come and«oil our spines» for $ 5 bucks on a friday and get on with the weekend after. Im not 21 anymore, so I dont hang out after this place lets out. cant comment on the foolery that goes on after 2 cause Im running to my car:-) hope this helps lol…

Come here if you like morbidly obese ghetto turd nuggets. I wish the city would shut this place down. It blasts way too loud crappy reggae, hip hop, and RnB. You can hear it up the street! After all the fatty boombalattys get nice and hammered, and worn out for dancing for 45 seconds… they migrate next door to refuel their fatty boombalatty fuel tanks with some more lard infused goodness from Nations Burger. I love Nations! I was there for a delicious java shake, and of course it was filled with these pre mentioned scum bags stuffing their fat faces. While waiting for my shake, I see a booth with 3 people. One pukes on the floor under the booth and it STINKS! What do the other 2 turd nuggets do? They continue to stuff themselves while their toes soak in their friends vomit. They dont get up, or ask for help, just continue grazing like cattle. It smelled so bad, I had to wait outside for my shake. The most insane part of this place… THEYCHARGE A COVER!!! $ 10!!! Pure Insanity!

So I’m a big fan of reggae and dancehall… I always attend Reggae Thursdays(NO, that’s not the real name) at Air Lounge, so when I heard about this little piece of reggae«paradise» I was excited. Fast forward to 11:30PM Friday night: the DJ’s(yes«DJs» because there were at lease 14 people in there) have ADHD and can only play the first 16 bars of every song, the crowd was a little«older» than expected and on top of that, there’s a two-drink minimum to sit at one of their awful little tables! On TOP of all that? Their drinks start at around $ 11? Umm hello? The interior is clearly from 1985 and the waitress is an old Bop if I ever saw one. Bottom line: me was no feelin the riddim. Bomboclat.

Good atmosphere. Friendly people. Can get really really crowded. It was an obstacle course just getting to the bathroom. The place is set up with a few tables on one end and the bar on the opposite side. There is narrow pathway that gets really crowded and makes it hard to move. If you have a table or bar stool you’re golden. If you don’t… Good luck. Prices are like any other bar.

Reggae in Alameda? Nice… My first time there was 5 or 6 years ago. I love Reggae so that with alcohol will usually keep me happy. The place is small, but cozy. Most of the folks that go are very regular. I have not been in years and went back this year and saw some of the same folks. My only issue is the place is just plain dirty. Carpet is stained beyond cleaning, walls are dirty and need painting and the place needs a MAJOR upgrade or just some cleaning. Guess they don’t want to spend the money. They are only open on weekends which I’m assuming is enough for them. They do now have free comedy from 8−1opm on Fridays which is nice. I say check it out every now and then, but it would be nice if they fixed the place up or changed the décor a bit. Not much of a selection of adult reggae spots around where there not shooting or fighting nowadays. Friday is $ 5 for ladies and $ 10 for me. I think Sat is $ 10 and will go up on occasion to $ 15 later.

i dropped in here out of curiosity during the webster street jam. there was loud hip hop/reggae music playing. only person present was chomping on something. i looked for drafts, didn’t see any. the bartender was busy with something, never acknowledged me so i left after i few minutes. noticed a tag on all tables states $ 20 is the minimum for a charge on a credit card. not that hard since their specialty drinks run $ 8-$ 9. barnotes: –seems to be a cover charge of $ 15 in the evening.

I have been going to IPC for years and always enjoy myself when I am there. The $ 15 cover is just too much, though. When I am in the mood for a house party setting with a friendly staff and great drinks, I will fork out the cash. The music, which is mostly Caribbean(not necessarily JAMAICAN) is familiar and wonderful to dance to. U will be sure to hear the classic Reggae, Soca and Calypso tunes with a Sprinkle of Hip Hop n R& B but if you are looking for more up to date music, this may not be for you. As for the comments below about the«big girls»: WHy is it so wrong for a full figured women to enjoy herself where she is asked to dance? Everyone needs attention and deserves to get some love. That respect is shown to everyone who goes to IPC from the door to the floor.

If you are a Reggae fan check out IP on a Saturday. I love them for being consistant with the music, vibes, and strong drinks. For me and my girls it is a nice break to go out dancing where some one actaully asks you to dance. As for some of the other reviewers who insulted IP’s crowd — TRUSTME they don’t want you or your nasty judgemental selves in the club. *I take away one star for charging such a high cover — but I paid it didn’t I.

OLDSKOOLJANKY is the best review I can give this place. I so agree with Rosie’s evaluation… OMG and they have the nerve to charge $ 15.00 at the door. WOW for real? I am 40 and realize that any place I go will have my age group which is what I look for but these folks where 50 stuck in 15 yr old mentality and the qualifcations is Over weight & Broke down and I dont know what else to be a part of the crowd… NEvrr ever again I am so mad I paid $ 30.00 at 1AM to walk up in there and have a drink. People where humpin so hard on the dance floor that one chick had to put her hands on the walls to keep from slammin her face in it while some dude who was dancing with another chick both fat walked up on her and grind so hard on her she was bouncing on the wall, WOW AINT you grown …

Are you a goat herder looking for a good time? Perhaps you are a cranky 300 lb «cougar» looking for that special someone? meoooowwwww. Or possibly, you need a place to sit and gawk while Nations’(next door) finishes your burger? If you answered yes to any of the above three questions, Island Paradise is your spot. If not stay away, far far away

Top Ten Reasons To Kick It At Island Paradise 10. They play Jamaican music videos that you can’t find in the States on TVs placed around the club 9. Multiple seating options for just-drinkers, cupcakers, booty-oglers, sit-and-swayers, and can’t-dancers 8. The phone message refers to the club as «The premier International Meeting Place in the Bay Area» translation… African Club 7. Good lighting and leverage for my trademark wall-dancing 6. Great mix of dancehall, reggae, calypso, samba, and soca 5. They let my friends bring in my birthday cake 4. Like myself, the club has an inflated self-esteem that causes them to charge $ 10-$ 15 for a really great $ 5 club 3. I battle danced with some territorial lipstick lesbians who later hit on us next door at Nations. 2. There’s a Nation’s Burger next door 1. DJ Electro is hot and gave me shout-outs on the mic all night cuz it was muh birr-day. Okay, yes they charge too much but Island Paradise is perfect for a girl like me who wants to dance all night to good music surrounded by multiple variations of brown persons and pretend for a few hours that I’m back in the shebeens of South Africa. .. then get a veggie burger at Nations and get the hell out of Alameda. Shout out to Baseemah R. for kickin it hard with your girl on my bday.
