Sumido is a highly recommended instructor. He’s patient, engaging and manages his class extremely well. The class and Capoeira in general has a great blend of martial arts skill, discipline, acrobatics, music, singing, Brazilian culture and fun. Our son has been his student for 3 years and loves this class. Not only does he learn these amazing skills, but he gets to use it to challenge and play Capoeria with his mates. My son has taken many classes, kung fu, soccer, baseball, gymnastics and this is by far his favorite. It’s not just a class, it’s a community and a cultural experience. Try it!

My daughter has been taking capoeira for many years with Capoeira Mandinga. Instructor Sumido is an amazingly thoughtful teacher of young people in capoeira. He is skilled both at the art of capoeira as well as the teaching of it. He cares so deeply about making the learning of all aspects of capoeira fun, age appropriate, engaging, educational and physically appropriate. He takes young people and their learning seriously — which is not true of so many adults. He listens to young people. Sumido’s classes are appropriately challenging, thoughtfully designed, welcoming of all levels(including parent /kid classes!) and of course, fun! Check out his classes — you will be glad you did! :)

Everyone should try capoeira! It’s a combination of martial art, dance, music, singing, brazilian culture, a good work out, and it helps build a fun community. The classes are directed to all levels and ages so everyone feels welcome.
