Came here when they were in Oakland for EatReal festival and I tried this stand because of the BBQ Bowl. I ended up getting the curry bowl. Its white rice and chicken curry then its topped with kimchi. I could not finish my bowl they gave us a good amount of rice and chicken. I wish I would have had more Kimchi. Over all it was really good.

Got the Korean BBQ bowl. Hugeee portions. Went for the EatReal festival out in Jack London Square. I thought the meat was tasty, but they were of various tenderness/moistness. The smoky flavor was pretty nice. They easily got a long line going by having many racks out exploding with a savory fragrant. I felt like the bowl was missing something. There was a lot of white rice which made me want it to be seasoned or accompanied with some sauce. The chicken itself was missing a light coating of sauce.

Time: 2:08pm/77°F sunny Purpose: Scan of EatReal map as well as a walk through before deciding. Bombzies is one of those vendors that wouldn’t give up till everything is sold out. Line wasn’t long about 15+, but moves quickly. Thinking better now as line forms quick. Set-up: Two wide 6ft grill with wooden gate surrounding. Convention table with red/white checkerboard tablecloth, utensil/condiment, ad board, screen guard, metal rods with company signage on all four side, metal food containers, cash box. Staff: Young crew about 6 – 7 workers total. Girls in front doing order packing while guys in back doing grilling and miscellaneous. Can’t say no one wasn’t happy or not in the mood. I understand the weather ongoing for three days of hot and humid temperature. I don’t blame them if I was in their shoes same feeling. Quick n easy transaction mindset on chicken kabob. Girl handed me kabob politely ask for $ 5, I said no problem here you go extra $ 1 for you. Cleanliness: Grade A, grilling can be smokey and messy. When you look at the set up with equipment/supplies tells you a whole lot. They’re clean with separate water buckets use for dirty towel to grill cleaning. Eats/Drinks: Chicken kabob $ 5. It’s grill on site juicy, hot, but flavor wasn’t as great as I remember. Can’t say much here as flavor isn’t the same as chicken bowl I had in the past just minus the rice. Its my second time having kabob from them. It seem portions shrink a little too. Chicken pieces in the past cover the stick with about an inch left on both ends. Now it’s like 3′-inch seen. The only reason, I didn’t go with bowl was because of EatReal event. Saving room for more food. Main Features: BBQ chicken Products/Services: BBQ rice bowl, chicken kabob, baguette. Thai coconut curry, Korean BBQ chicken, lemongrass BBQ chicken. Follow them on Unilocal,Twitter, and FB. Punch Lines: Long line, better than average, pleasing flavors, limited choices, drool-worthy, well-seasoned, always buzzing, devotees, best cheap eats, can’t go wrong, casual and delicious, satisfactory. Tradeoffs: There’s really nothing going on here except for the smoke emitted from grill that draws people to line up. Their sell point is the smoke itself, don’t be fooled. Final Thoughts: You’re limited to one protein choice of chicken because of affordability and lock in prices. There’s no risk with chicken were as beef prices could be higher than expected. You eat what they grill that day, take it or leave it. They don’t care if you buy or not because lines will always be long.

Delicious! The food is super tasty & well seasoned! Plus the amount of food is more than enough. Definitely would recommend! You know the food is good if you had it earlier in the day & you’re still thinking about it later!

I recently had a rice bowl from Bombzies last night at Off the Grid SF, it was so good that I decided to write a review! Definitely not your typical teriyaki chicken rice bowl that your used to eating. Bombzies food has unique flavors that will have you coming back for seconds!

I just recently went to my Off the Grid at Fort Mason for the first time. Wait for it, wait for it. BOMBZIES is BOMBtastic. Yeah, I wrote that. I’d eyed, smelled and thoroughly considered many trucks and many full plates and bowls passing by. I settled on Bombzies, and was not disappointed at all. The sweet and savory BBQ over a warm bowl of white rice was amazing. My partner and I both each had one bowl. I finished every grain of rice and had a couple of beers. Their service is quick, efficient, and what can you say — Koreans know BBQ. Hope to catch Bombzies in various places around the Bay again and again.

OMG was I ever so glad to order a chicken barbecue skewer Korean style. I questioned whether that was enough food. Well it was more than enough!!! Like WOW! It was so plentiful that I felt full a majority of the day! It was very flavorful sweet with a tiny bit of heat. Plus it was so succulent, juicy and humongous! This business had a food stand at the SF Nihonmachi street fest held in Japantown. I walked by it earlier in the morning & checked it out on Unilocal. It had a strong score of four solid stars & I decided to give it a try. They placed a sample of the BBQ meat in a bowl and in a roll. I wasn’t that hungry to get either so I went with the skewer. So glad I did. Initially you do have a choice of either Korean or Vietnamese style but lately I’ve been craving Korean food. That was the best chicken BBQ skewer I ever had. My HB got the bowl & his meat had way too much heat! Yikes!!! I would have given five stars but the gal who helped me was not nice. When I asked for a plate she just gave me a piece of foil like don’t ask me for a plate look. Like wow. Next time my HB will do all the ordering. Lol! I’m not sure if we will run across them again but I would definitely get that skewer again even though I personally don’t like eating off skewers as they can get messy! Well especially theirs because the juice from the chicken is all over the place! Don’t pass on this one! You won’t be sorry!

Got the korean baguette. There was a lot of meat(which you would think is a good thing) and the bread was very thick. So with each bite seems you’re getting either all meat or all bread. I wish it had other ingredients like lettuce or something. I regretted not getting a rice bowl which looked pretty good seems to be more popular.

Tried this place at the eat real festival. this was the longest line there was at the eat real festival and we saw a couple of people walking around with the massive amounts of meat on their rice bowls. Now portion size was insanely large. got tons of chicken on a bowl of rice for 8 buks. but my issue is with the cook on the chicken, and there was no sauce on the rice. the chicken was flavored properly, but the chicken tasted a tad under cooked and got some chewy pieces. And without any sauce on the rice was just plan, and it was very difficult eating the enormous amount of chicken and then by the time you got to the rice there you were out of chicken. if they just but the sauce they put on the bbq on to the rice or gave it to us on the side, i would have given this a 4 star. would i go back here again, well maybe depending on what my other options are. but wouldn’t be my first choice.

Eat Real 2014 Menu: Flavors: Korean BBQ: Sweet w/a black pepper kick Lemongrass BBQ: Soy-based citrus flavor Thai-Coconut: Creamy curry flavor Style: Chicken Kabob: $ 5 Chicken Rice Bowl: $ 8 Our Order: Korean BBQ Bowl Lemongrass BBQ Skewer Thai-Coconut Skewer The wait for this vendor was among the longest at the Eat Real Fest. Gotta give them props though since they moved the line along at a decent pace. As we’re standing in line, I saw them constantly cooking chicken, but by the time we got to the front, the food was cold. I’m not a fan of cold chicken. =/Since the food was cold, the sauces were thicker than they should be(nearly paste-like on the skewers). The flavors were very robust and enjoyable though. My friend’s Korean BBQ bowl had a ton of kimchi & rice and not much chicken. The kimchi over-powered the Korean sauce unfortunately so can’t really comment on the sauce. Good flavors but a bit expensive for what you’re getting though.

– Eat Real Festival – SOMUCHMEAT. These guys had four whole BBQ grills set up, blanketing the open area with smoke. Delicious, asian-spice inspired smoke. The long line in front of their stall seemed to prove that their olfactory marketing worked. You can get an extremely generous portion of chicken on a skewer for $ 5, or a rice bowl for $ 7 or $ 8, I forget. I opted for the skewer and it was easily the best«bang for your buck» at the festival. I got the Spicy Korean BBQ, though there was also Vietnamese lemongrass and Thai curry. It was filling, covered in delicious sauce(not actually spicy though), and dripped everywhere. It also came in a hastily wrapped foil, which ended up leaking sauce all over me, but hey, its a festival and people are busy. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for their shack again. It was tasty.

Discovered this vendor at Drake’s Brewery 25th Anniversary Celebration. Fantastic huge sandwiches and rice bowls of delicious BBQ. Spied a guy diving into this huge BBQ sammy. Around a mouthful, he directed me to Bombzies. I had the Korean BBQ Chicken Rice Bowl, topped w/kimchi. FANTASTIC! As I wove through the crowd, with bowl in hand, I passed along the same directions I had been given. If you see Bomzies, make a beeline. Won’t matter if you are hungry, or not. Your juices will start to flow when you get a whiff of the smoke and an eyeful of their wares.

Had the thai coconut curry chicken over rice. Large pieces of dark chicken meat with coconut flavors, not very spicy but flavorful. They give you kimchi on top of it $ 9 for a bowl, really large bowl. Super friendly staff !

I went to Rock Wall Winery with my friend for the Holy Mother Trucker event to celebrate Mother’s Day. After perusing the food trucks, we decided to have Bombzies. The chicken on the BBQ just smelled so inviting but the line of about 20 people was not. It was by far, the longest line at any of the food trucks there. Once we got to the front of the line, the lady who was taking orders was extremely friendly and quickly got us our food — Korean BBQ chicken on a baguette($ 7) and Korean BBQ chicken rice bowl with kimchi on top($ 8). My bowl was very filling and the chicken was fresh. I loved how the flavorful sauce seeped into my rice. My friend, however, was not quite as impressed. Although she enjoyed the chicken as well, her baguette was stale which ruined the experience for her. This is a solid food truck to go to if you’re hungry and the smell of cooking chicken will attract you. I was between 3 or 4 stars because of the baguette, but since I enjoyed my meal I stuck with 4 stars.

I had the chance to try Bombzies BBQ a few days ago at OTG Fort Mason and I was not let down. The food vendor specializes in grilled meats, specifically BBQ chicken prepped Vietnamese and Korean style. The menu is simple and only offers a few choices, such as Vietnamese BBQ Chicken, Korean BBQ Chicken and Lemongrass BBQ Chicken. You’re given the option of a rice bowl or served on a baguette or as a kabob. I went with the Korean BBQ Chicken in a rice bowl for $ 9. I chose the Korean rice bowl because of the added kick in spice in comparison to the sweetness of Vietnamese style. You’re given the option of adding kimchi free of charge and I went for it. I didn’t think I’d be all that impressed with a rice bowl with chicken, but once they handed it over it looked pretty damn good. The chicken had great flavor and their Korean spices really took it up an extra notch. The meat was tender and soft and went perfect with their jasmine rice and kimchi. I do wish that their baguettes were warmed or toasted on the grill rather than a cold roll. However, I’m pretty sure it’d be a good side with the rice bowl. If you think a chicken rice bowl sounds pretty plain, think again; Bombzies delivers.

I found Bombzies purely by chance as the Millbrae Japanese Culture Festival and was quite excited to try it. Whats not to like about meat on a stick after all? The stall setup is nice as you can see them grilling the meat on a BBQ at the back of the tent and they then keep the meats warm in one of those metal buffet containers. I decided to have the Korean BBQ Chicken in a French Baguette( ) — $ 7 to share with the Hubby because I love me some Carbs with my meat. The Chicken had a bit of spiciness to it but I found it to be quite dry and immediately regretted getting the bread with it and ended up just eating the chicken alone and dipping the bread(which was pretty good) in my leftover curry sauce from Japacurry. If you don’t fancy the Baguette you can get it over Jasmine Rice and they also offer Kimchi on the side. I feel they would benefit immensely by offering some kind of additional sauce, maybe even having heated sauce in the buffet warmer so the Chicken absorbs it making a little juicier. Since adding my photo’s to this listing I noticed there is also another one( ) One for each side of the bay? More reviews can be found there.
