What an amazing few establishments in town! The entire menu from top to bottom is just fantastic. By far the basement has me addicted to double grilled wings! The shrimp quesadilla is also another wonderful menu item.

It was not the service or the drinks that drove the subpar experience, it was the 45 minute wait after a golf outing along side receiving an extereme rare steak which was requested at medium rare that insinuated a terrible experience. The result of the steak was pure rubber to which it required to be regrilled and finally turned out inedible. Upon a 45 minute wait, the experience at The Basement was upon the worst I have received in the country in the past year. Upon traveling across the nation for work this past year, the wait and the output of the food was deplorable and amongst the worst experiences. The only reason I will return to this chain is the sole interest of my friend; amongst myself I will not return.

The sports bar of sports bars. Nick is hands down the best bartender in the world, and I’ve been to the world. The rest of the crew is also rockstar status. Each Basement serves a VERY consistent menu with a very inconsistent crowd. Waterloo is THE sports bar… while the lakes one a quite a bit younger, dancier, nakey-er crowd. There are a few more Basements, but these two are driving distance if you prefer one crowd to the other. To the poor chap who got the soggy onion rings and burger with mushions… Give it another shot. I’ve been here 500 times and the food has only disappointed me 3 times tops.

Stopped here for a quick bite while my wife’s car was getting an oil change. Basically a sports bar with far more flat screens than one can shake a stick at! t’s deceivingly huge inside, being at least four times as deep as it was wide, so the street impression of tiny falls away as soon as one enters. Old music videos were playing on 20% of the screens and the music was blasting. Kinda fun to see Stephen Tyler before the wrinkles took over! The waitress sang along upon occasion,(off-key), to enhance the entertainment experience The menu is typical bar fare. a half dozen or so non-sandwich entrees, and burgers and fried chicken sandwiches galore. I got the fish dinner and bought up to onion rings, the lady got a cheeseburger with sauteed onions and fries. The onion rings were soggy greasy nastiness, the product of freezer-to-fryer fare combined with a fryer operating at too low a temp! The fish was ok, pre-breaded straight from freezer to fryer. The burger seemed sizeable, and was adequate. The fries seemed overdone, but no real opinion was offered. The burger came without the sauteed onions, but WITH sauteed«mushrooms», which sounds very like«onions», I guess. Unfortunately the lady DESPISES mushrooms, and they were under the once-melted-then-congealed cheese, so she was trying to pry all of them off and dispose of them, losing most of the cheese in the process. Neither she or her manicure appreciated the job. I As the only waitress in the place was the barkeep, although it took a good while to get menus, once the ball began to roll, the service was adequate-but-remarkable-for-the-circumstances, so kudos to the waitress/barkeep! The food did not say«Come back soon!», and I doubt that we will!
