South Point Tavern

South Point Tavern is a nice little neighborhood bar. It’s got a great selection of craft beers (at least 50, I didn’t count) and good whiskey (maybe 20 or 30) and other liquors. It’s a very mellow place, not too loud. It’s classy but affordable. It’s nice and clean. The owner and bartenders are friendly and the cocktails are good.

It is always a struggle to find a decent little spot to get away for a beer following Akron family get together. This place is a chill little spot offering classic old-​fashioned cocktails and bottled craft brews. I enjoyed the Duclaw Sweet Baby Jesus and my favorite Belgian-​style tripel the Fin du Monde. The friendly bar staff were always ready to fill our never ending dish of Gardetto’s snacks. Only suggestions for improvements would be to offer draft beers.

Love this place. Fantastic drinks and within walking distance. We always feel welcome here!

Love this place! It’s a hidden gem. The owner and bartenders are so friendly and personable. They make a great drink. (Try any type of mule) It’s super clean and a relaxed atmosphere. I also appreciate that they support their community.

Here’s the deal: You want a beer, but don’t want to go to Applebees. And you’re too old to go to a bar downtown. You just want to be comfortable, have a damn beer, and not be surrounded by guys looking to fight and/​or get laid.
And you definitely don’t want to go to a coffee bar.
So what’s left? A hotel bar? Expensive. Some pretentious wine bar? That’s 20 minutes away. And you don’t own a BMW,
South Point strikes a surprisingly unique balance. It’s grown-​up but not pretentious. It’s very nice but not uptight. It’s like a really nice bar your buddy built in his basement where you can chill out and he has great snacks on top of it.
Disclaimer: I know the guy who owns it. But if it sucked I just wouldn’t say anything. So there’s certainly a modicum of bias to this review but not enough to skew it more than ½ a star.
But I did take the effort to post the same review on Google and Unilocal!so clearly there’s some enthusiasm on my part.

Great neighbor bar with a beautiful updated décor. They have a great beer, wine, and alcohol selection. The owner and his family work here and are very personable. Five this place a shot. It’s a hidden gem.
