I was here the other day and loved the food! I’m not vegan, but my best friend is, so we stopped in and got the sloppy Mac and chickpea sandwich and split those. It was plenty of food for the both of us! We got it to go. I can’t wait to go back and bring my 1 year old since we just moved close by. Filling, delicious, and I felt like I was being healthy! I will defiantly pick up some sweet potato cake next time because I regret not getting some!

5 stars because where else you going to go to in Akron for this kind of vegan-vegetarian. Not fancy and that is an understatement. Not cheap. Like a converted kitchen of a house — or something out of a movie about hippies or the 60s. But vegans and vegetarians have few choices and this is a high quality option. Hard to find so make sure you enter the address in your GPS.

I am so happy places like this exist. 100%-vegan restaurants are hard to find and this one is just extra special. The ambiance feels cozy as if you were in someone’s home. You’re automatically greeted with the feeling of familiarity and friendliness. If that sounds good, the food is even better! I had the falafel sandwich and without any hesitation– it was the best I have ever had. I absolutely plan to be back and bring as many people as I can with me. Places like this give vegan food a good name :)

Food was amazing, one of Akron’s best kept secrets. Great vegan food that a non vegetarian would enjoy too.

I love eating here. The turnip green soup is incredible. BUT the fried green tomatoes makes you want to slap yo momma. Yum!

Surprisingly fantastic and adorable all vegan café in Akron! Very strong hippy vibes had me a bit worried that the food would taste like cardboard, but I was pleasantly surprised. My ‘egg’ salad sandwich was delicious. Perfect balance of savory flavors with super fresh lettuce and tomato. The bread was clearly house made and was DELICIOUS. I had a bite of my friends black bean burger which was also really nice. We split a cinnamon roll for dessert-the best I’ve ever eaten in my life. They have several house made to-go items like cookies, kale chips, and granola as well. Service here was very warm and friendly. The two women working were lovely and nice to talk to. One lives on/owns a farm nearby! Very cool. If I am ever in Akron again, I look forward to returning here.

Ms. Julie has a good thing going here in her Kitchen. I had her Quinoa and Kale stew, which also had beans and sweet potatoe. Very tasty and a good spicy bite to it, which was unexpected but nice. Also included was a corn bread muffin that was dense and helped bring the meal together. I ended with a fresh ooey, gooey brownie, which was also very tasty. This isn’t haute couture cuisine, but when you realize that it’s all vegan, all organic, you realize what a tasty meal it was. And the popcorn. A nice way to wait for the food. Had some nice spices and I couldn’t stop eating it until my soup came to the table. It is a bit pricey at first, but portion size matched the price, so no real complaints there.

Kind of weird but quite good. This place reminds me of how vegetarian restaurants used to be … more like going to someone’s house for dinner than a restaurant. We were in town for family stuff and headed out but needed to find breakfast. My bf is lactose intolerant so typically vegan is the way to go just to make things easier. We got there early, and it was open but there was really nothing breakfast-y available so we got soups. They were both delicious and filling, along with the cornbread. Water in mason jars was a nice touch. We took lots to go since we had a 6 hour drive ahead of us — cookies, the kale chips, I can’t even remember what else. Everything was really good. Plenty for gluten-free and vegan diets. Bring cash as she takes credit but there’s a fee, and no tips on the card. Four stars because it didn’t seem terribly clean. Bonus points for the amazing ceiling paint job, which if anyone can tell me more about the guy who did it please message me. I’m serious! All in all a great place and glad we found it — if you are up for delicious vegan food and an unconventional dining experience, go here.

This place is Fantastic ! I had the great luck of traveling through Akron and spotted this place on the web. I stopped in and was greeted by the super friendly owner and staff. Had a chat with the owner and was so impressed with her spot on ideals for not just heathy food but a healthier planet as well. No GMO, No Monsanto, Investing in local farms and growing your own for the supply of food. I couldn’t agree more ! I sat down and was served up a delicious down to earth healthy locally grown organic vegan meal. Afterward I bought up a few of their select items to take home. Carrot cake, Goo a Balls, Buckwheat Cookies and their own homemade Kombucha. Everything was delicious ! All together this place has to get 5 stars in my book ! :-)

This is a great place to have in the neighborhood. The people were friendly and nice and the place was clean. It didn’t seem they had a lot of money to open this place but they used what they had well. I recommend this place for people who are calm and hipstery.

Excellent split pea soup just like my dad makes. And what I’d like to call a deconstructed stuffed green pepper dish was to die for too. Just go there you won’t regret it.

Discovered this place about a month ago and plan to become a regular! All I can say is if all Vegan food was as good as Ms Julie’s, a lot more people would become Vegans! I’ve had the zucchini bread, banana bread, stuffed squash, hempatti sandwich, and eggplant. Wow, what a taste treat each time. This is on the way to work for me so I’ll be stopping in frequently for dine-in or take-home.

Haven’t been to the actual restaurant, just ran into their stand at Howe’s Farmer’s Market. The kale chips were pretty good though! Looking forward to trying the restaurant. The people at the booth were friendly.

Good. Clean. Healthy. Great Peeps. Not at all what you’d expect to find in Akron. A tiny little slice of Berkeley vegan in Ohio. Who’d a thought.

Longtime fan of Ms Julie’s amazing waffles… they are a Howe Meadow Farmer’s Market institution. Getting to the store is tough for us… but I braved the highway trek and was rewarded with some awesome food. Salad Bar — great selection, super fresh, homemade Black Raspberry dressing! Potato Salad — super creamy and lots of pickle with potatoes cooked just right for both a creamy exterior and a firm interior. Rhubarb Salsa — just the right bit of everything… heat… sour… sweet… texture Brownie — the only low light… not my style… plenty chocolaty but did not like the texture. Strawberry ~Rhubarb ~ Apple Crisp — sooo much fruity goodness… nice crisp topping Parking is rough… the interior makes up for the exterior… either at the market or at the store a great source of great food!

SAYWHAT!!! A vegan spot in Akron? Me and the homie came here after hitting this dirt store down the road. I searched Unilocal for any restaurant and this spot came up second. SCORE! I had the black bean burger. They cut it and serve it longways(lol) on a pita type bread. It was topped with the fixings. The homie had the chili mac. I wish I would have got that as well. Most vegan mac n cheese is pasty, or something is just not right. At Ms. Julies, they got it right, creamy, not pasty with the flavors on point. It was just bomb. My homie said he has went back just for that. He lives in the area and was unaware that Ms. Julie was in the house. I’ll be back when I’m in Akron.

Seriously… ignore the locale. Ignore the little plaza this place is in… because it is the BEST! You must get the«sloppy mac» and a brownie. I have cravings for Ms. Julie’s food and will always go out of my way to buy some of her goodies when she’s selling at farmer’s markets in the area. A little pricey, to be honest(lunch for three was over $ 50) — but well worth the price. Friendly faces, delicious food, yummy little treasures in her freezer too(get the banana pecan waffles and put them in your freezer for a Sunday morning). Can’t say enough good things about this place!

I SOOOO badly want to love this place. I really do. Being a vegan and this being the only actual vegan restaurant in the area, along with the fact that so much of the food is locally sourced, you’d think it would be a no brainer to give this place 5 stars. I was ecstatic when we found this place. Literally, we rushed out the door to try Ms. Julie’s kitchen. A menu that’s on rotation based on what’s in season. Score! Yummy looking fresh baked vegan goodies. AWESOME! Cute and quaint decorations, local produce for sale. Yayyy! But, sadly, all of the pros don’t out weigh the cons and those pros were mostly smoke and mirrors. Visit 1. The superior service(which we have only received on this very first visit) made up for the subpar food. The people working there that particular day were awesome and engaging. We chatted with the friendly staff from the time we stepped foot in the door until we left. My husband and I tried 3 things from the menu and split everything. Split pea soup: really good. Had a little kick to it and was yummy. No complaints. Two sandwiches, a fake«McRib» sandwich and something along the lines of a spicy black bean burger/sandwich(I can’t remember the exact name). Both sandwiches were just, meh and a bit on the disappointing side. Nothing special about them and I could of made them much better at home. We decided to give the place a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh try. Each time the service was beyond rude. Snooty and just, I don’t know, rude! We kept trying different things on the menu hoping we’d hit the jack pot, and nothing was ever close to being good. Just sub-par vegan sandwiches and unimaginative dishes. The«fresh» baked goods have been anything but. Everything I’ve tried from their baked goods selection has tasted stale, hard, and clearly was NOT fresh. Plus, each time my husband has eaten here he said it gave him a horrible stomach ache. We once called to ask if they had a particular beet item on the menu that day and we were told yes. We were there, literally, 5 mins later and we’re told(again, very rudely) that they didn’t have it because they ran out of the cheese. So, um, can we just not have cheese on it? We only went to try this item, and were annoyed with the employees lack of, well everything, so we just left. We’ve also called asking what all was on the board/menu for that day, and the women that answered, who I’ve concluded is the owner, was straight up not pleasant. She responded as if my call was such an inconvenience and spoke to me like I was an idiot for even asking. «I have no idea since I’m not even there! I’d assume… yada, yada, yada… But I don’t know.» Ummm, okay then. I once stopped in for a bowl of soup to go and the girl just gave me a face and asked«do you want ME to heat that up?» Ummmm, yeah, it’s SOUP. Sure, I’ll go back for the split pea soup, because it really was good. But we won’t be going multiple times a month like we would of hoped to when we found this vegan spot. I hope they massively step up their game on both the food and the customer service. It’s has potential to be a great little spot, but it’s falling really short on so many levels. So disappointed :(

I don’t usually write many reviews, but I felt like I needed to contribute something after reading the first review. There is not much to NOT like about Ms. Julie’s Kitchen. A small cozy restaurant filled with very friendly and smiling staff that cook and serve awesome food. A true diamond in the rough, this is the type of restaurant I’ve been missing in Akron. When it comes to restaurants in Akron that use all local organic ingredients and all vegetarian and vegan cuisine — Ms. Julie’s Kitchen is unrivaled. After having the Spicy Black Bean Burger and the Hempattywich, both of which I’d highly recommend, I just can’t say enough good things about Ms. Julie’s Kitchen.

I first met Ms. Julie at the Howe Meadow farmer’s market. Her homemade peach spelt waffles and pumpkin bread absolutely send me. Her life story is fascinating, too, and she’s happy to share it. While at this market, I also met a couple of gals from the Plant Kingdom bakery. Their hemp bars and goo balls made my tastebuds dance. At one point, they even broke out hula hoops! To my delight, I found out Ms. Julie sells Plant Kingdom products at her store. One afternoon, I ventured out to find the goods. and almost missed it. The shop is located in a sort of strip mall next to a pizza place. When I walked up to her storefront, I was greeted by a young girl shucking corn and an older gal manning the counter inside. Everything on the menu sounded amazing! Ms. Julie has a Facebook page where she writes about her homegrown organic produce and all of the things she cooks and bakes(all drool-worthy!). The store was dark and the flies were abundant, but I’m just curious enough to come back and order a sit-down meal.
