The best restaurant in Akron! Best antipasto salad ever!!! I’m going for Valentines day and I’m so excited, this place never disappoints :)

Looking for a local joint between Cleveland and Columbus, and Unilocal pointed this AWESOME old school Italian restaurant. Kids loved it and the price was great for the atmosphere. Staff was super friendly, and so was the families and couples around us. Great time will always make a stop when near Akron. Loved it.

You got to go to Luigi’s at least once. Then you will want to go back again and again.

Food doesn’t make up for the outside wait and awkward seating. Loud place, salad has way way too much cheese. And I got food poisoning. So I think it sucks.

This is the best pizza in Akron hands down. I’ve only had one bad experience one the many of times I’ve been there. I don’t know if I would recommend eating in there, just because it’s small, but man… If you want some good pizza, this is the place to go. It’s a little pricy, but it’s worth it.

This would be 5 if there wasn’t a consistent wait time of 20 – 45 minutes, and limited space to stand in line.

BEWARNED: they do NOT take credit cards. If they had low prices or were newly in business I still wouldn’t like it but might understand. But, in 2015, especially for a place that draws people here from out of town, it is ridiculous. Painful to go there sometimes when you see families waiting in line only to find that, sorry no credit cards folks. As far as food, not much of it terribly healthy but good. Good pizza for Akron style pizza.

My favorite pizza in the world! Their salads are huge. The meatballs are homemade and as big as your fist. Come early because the line goes around the corner. Bring cash because they don’t take credit or debit. They often have balloon artists for the kids on the weekends. A must stop in Akron

It’s good but for the expectations that were set, it’s not at that level. It’s good pizza but kinda an upscale better version of Pizza Hut and by that I mean thick bready crust and greasy. The pepperoni and mushrooms are what’s up for sure. But overall the pizza didn’t match the high expectations for it. And the service was good, not great, up until the waitress asked us to clear the table. I get it, it was full, but it was also a Monday night and we’d ordered two fill pies for three people, so a little unwarranted.

Love this place! Best pizza! Depending on when you go it could be packed out the door or you could walk right in. Delicious food.

Maybe Luigi’s is an acquired taste but i wasn’t a fan of their salad covered by a mountain of shredded cheese. Home made Italian sausage had a gamey taste to it. Lasagne was a mush of pasta and cheap tomato sauce. Only thing worth mentioning was the bread. Have no idea why the lines were so long. Prices seemed high for the quality and portion size. Service was very good however. Will definitely not be back.

Very disappointed. They hide all their food under a mountain of cheap shredded cheese. Lasagna was layers of noodles and cheese covered in spaghetti-o’s sauce. The floors were sticky and nasty. The benches were so dilapidated that we sat in holes. So sad that the quality has gone down so much.

Great pizza, but you MUST pay with cash. They do have an ATM there, but bring it just to avoid any issues. Salads are basic and tasty, but really… it’s all about the pies here. No matter what you like they do it to perfection. When in Akron this is my go to Pizza place!

Thick crust pizza the likes of which Pizza Hut can only dream. Struggled the last 20 feet up the hill to Luigi’s after a 35-mile towpath bike ride from Cleveland. Propping the bike outside, ordered a small sausage pizza for myself. When biting into the crunchy buttered crust, realized that the pie evoked childhood trips to Pizza Hut, complete with a pocket full of quarters to be burned at the slot arcade. Alas, no quarters this time, but realized that this was the taste that the Hut tries so hard to replicate. It was a similar revelation that the vaunted baked ravioli at Charlie Gitto’s(St. Louis, MO) had it’s flavor mimicked by none other than Chef Boyardee! Happily crunched down the rest of my pizza and caught the train back to Cleveland.

I have always loved this pizza(all the varieties) and recommend it to everybody. My parents would bring this home for diner since I was very small and I hope the restaurant stays around so I can eat their pizza until I’m very old. This place does get very busy around meal times so come early or supper late or just take a bunch of it home to share with your loved ones.

Went here for the first time after a friend suggested it and being from an Italian family I am always skeptical of «italian» restaurants because it never tastes truly authentic. The décor is definitely very old school, could use some updating if your into that kind of thing, but for me if the food tastes good who cares. You need to get here early… if your going for lunch you better be there right at 11 because at 1130 the line is out the door! I ordered the sausage and meatball sampler with a side salad. The cheese on top is the best, it makes their salad stand out from everyone else. The meatball and sausage in their sauce with melted cheese was delicious, I will say that I didn’t care much for the sausage, it was very sweet and didn’t have much of a bite to it but everyone is different. They do only take cash so don’t expect to use a card. Overall it was good, I had no complaints service was good even for them being busy and I will come back.

2nd time at the restaurant. Busy place but got a table for 7 without any issue. Server was super nice. Prices average for a pizza place with other things on the menu. Bread, spot on! So good! Garlic bread and salad, fantastic! Pizza I would give a 8 out of 10. I would have to say this about our visit. Everyone but two of the 7 got pizza, one of the guests ordered a pizza and is a vegetarian, ordered a green pepper and onion pizza, but when ALL of our food came out his had pepperoni vs peppers. Had to take it back, everyone was basically done eating and he got his pizza finally. I feel taking the one glass of wine off the bill for the mistake was odd. But whatever. Other than that, no complaints.

So the family and I were searching for a place to grab some food before heading back to the CLE area. We were starving after watching my high school alma matar girls softball team win the div 1 state championship!!! So enough about softball… you wanna know how the food was. Well let me tell you… it was freaking awesome. The couple ahead of us in line overheard us discussing that Luigis reminded of Mama Santas. The older lady informed me it was way better than Mama Santas… and she was close! ;) We ordered a little bit of everything… large mushroom, pepperoni, green pepper, and sausage pizza… baked cheese ravioli… spaghetti with meat sauce… an italian tossed salad and their homemade spumoni gelato! Dear god from up above it was soooooo good! Luigis is a must try kind of place. Its been there since 1949… so you know it has to be good! And one thing I want to point out is the service we had. Top notch! The waitresses there are not your young, still in high school type of waitresses. Our waitress has been working there for over 17 yrs. Im a firm believer in that the quality of service in a restaurant can make or break a place. Next time Im in Akron I will be making a point to stop by!

Best and most affordable Italian place in the neighborhood! The salads are epic with the stack of shredded cheese and delicious Italian dressing! I still have yet to find out where they get their shredded cheese. Go for lunch and you can get a side salad and a piece of pizza for under $ 5! What a steal deal! I grew up eating pizza from Luigi’s and I still think their pizza is the best around! Note: They are open late so check them out after a night on the town!
