Not what it used to be. Used to come here once a week. Service has dropped drastically since one of the managers left. Music was WAY too loud. Asked if possible to turn slightly down and was told no. I run an entertainment company for a living and am used to loud music. This was beyond that. We took our business to The Merchant and the food was phenomenal, service excellent and music at an appropriate level.

Food is mostly bar stuff but good. Dinner specials are worth it. Youngish crowd after 8pm.

Wish I could rate them a 0 star rating… The owner is a pompous ass hole… We used to go here all the time… 4 months ago my wife and I went there to have drinks and just hang out… We spent $ 20 on the juke box… As soon as we were done spending OUR money, the fucking snotty blonde bimbo bar tender went to the same juke box and spent a shit ton of money(which they hit«play next» on every song… As soon as a song I played came on she skipped it because and I quote” well it’s not what I want to hear”… Yeah fuck that… I bitched to another bar tender who gave me a $ 5 «refund»… ok skip a few months… Last month we went here again(after a couple months off because of the bullshit we went through the last time)… We ate dinner ordered drinks and were waiting for the«dinner crowd» to leave… Again I put $ 40 into the app for the juke box. And yet again the same bar tender went to the juke box(after I explained that we just put money in it)… I told my server that«hey are we going to be able to play songs we as customers want to hear»? Her response was«oh they didnt know you played songs as well»… Which was bulsshit because I showed them my credits and how much I put in there”… Again… Skipped the songs I played and THENTHEOWNER comes out and skips a song mid way through… Yeah it’s only a juke box but it is MY money I put in there… They need to put a sign on the box that says… «Yeah we work here every weekend and if you want to hear any music… We will pick the songs that only we want to hear so waste your money coz we’re fucking derpers and dont give a shit about our customers… Oh and«we’re scared of our boss» was the reason not a single beer wench said anything… A $ 149 tab and not a single tip was given… In fact we ordered a burger which was brought out just as we got our check and made them«eat the cost» of it because FUCK you that’s why… We take our business to Johnny J’s in Portage Lakes because Stormy is AMAZING!

My iphone6 was stolen here. This place could be the trendiest club in Las Vegas… what else is there to say when thieves target your phone?

this is my favorite bar — for reasons i’m not even sure of. i’ve been going to Johnny Js for about 3 – 4 years and have seen many people come and go there. some of my favorites are gone, sadly. Samantha and crew do a good job keeping up with, what can be, a pretty hectic circus. each night of the week is a special feature. the Thursday night steak dinner is my favorite(steak and 2 sides for 8 bucks — hard to beat that). Wednesday night’s $ 3 martinis can be fun as well — lots of flavors to choose from. i do, however, wish that they had weekly/monthly beer specials — something less expensive to drink. some of the other bars i’ve been to in Akron feature $ 1 beers. while not always the best available beers, it’s nice to have a cheap option to choose when you’re maybe trying to save a few bucks. they’ve also changed the menu a couple times over the years and have removed some of my favorite items — the slow-Moe pulled pork sandwich was great and i wish it would make a comeback. they also used to serve breakfast options but removed those items as well.

Otherwise everything is what you’d expect a bar to be. I don’t know why I previously marked it low. It’s a bar. Cold beer. Good deal.

My wife and I decided to stop there on St. Patricks day after hearing it on the radio station. We had a blast! The place was jumping around 1 in the afternoon and the food was delicious. We even got handed a couple of free beers. It is a fun atmosphere and must be really hopping in the summertime. We are definitely going back.

I ordered a Samuel Adams Cold Snap at Johnny J’s in Merriman Valley and it tasted horrible! I have had this beer numerous times and it is one of my favorites. The taste and the smell were foul. My 4 friends that I was with agreed it tasted bad so I told the bartender. She brought the manager and the manager’s response was very disappointing. She told me that the beer is fine and she would not refund my money nor offer me another beer. This is an example of poor management and not putting the customer first.

I haven’t been to many bars in Akron, but Johnny J’s is a good spot. The drinks are good and cheap. The food is also surprisingly really good for a bar. The bartender here, Trevor, is hilarious and good at what he does.

This place is a restaurant serving alcohol in the guise of a bar serving food. The menu extends beyond the normal burgers and fried stuff to include salmon and several other less common/healthier alternatives. My wife got a Gyro with fries, and I got a steak salad. I was surprised at the generous number of slices of gyro meat that were in her gyro and the fries were fresh cut and tasted as though they were fried in peanut oil. Exceptional for a bar… er… restaurant! The steak on my enormous salad was PERFECTLY done, something that half the steak houses out there seem unable to execute. The salad greens were iceberg, but not from a «Bag-o-lettuce», with a generous amount of cucumber and tomato along with a fair amount of finely shredded colby cheese. They brew their iced tea, but had not yet done so for the day, so sodas around. Service was spot on! The waitress could walk by our booth at full speed, grab an empty cup without slowing one iota, and have it back filled in under 30 seconds! And the empties never sat for long! Even the water glasses which seem to become invisible to most waitstaff once they hit the table! Where’s my cloning machine when I need one? Although we didn’t try them, they have a «one from column a one from column b» luncheon combo selection with a nice variety in both columns for $ 6.99, guaranteed ready in 15 minutes on weekdays for the work-a-day crew. Beats the begeesus out of any place sporting a drive-thru window for value, and one gets table service thrown in as well! There are several locations. probably one near you… try ‘em! Wednesdays are $ 3.00 martini nights for the ladies. Too bad Halloween falls on Friday as a little trans-gender dressing might otherwise be on the table!

Some things never change at Johnny J’s. Consistently good food, consistent slow/inattentive bartenders and loud drunks yelling at each other. If you are 25 and under it is tolerable, over 25 or not drunk… not so much.

Overall, meh. I think one older guy next to us said he just come for the T&A. Some of the girls who work here are nice, but a lot of them seem really young and inexperienced. They have a few good beers. I would say their best attribute is their bloody mary bar on Saturdays. I used to never eat here(unless for drunk food purposes) and they now have better options in the last few months. This bar is probably just more appealing to men than women haha

I can’t tell you much about watching games or events here, but I’ve had many a fun night out with friends for drinks! The inside is nice from what I could tell, but I spent the majority of my times there outside on their patio. When I was a smoker, this was the perfect bar because of their outdoor seating and service. First things first, the drinks. We tried so many different shots and cocktails there, most as per recommendations from the waitresses. The shots always went down smooth and were super fun(Grape Blow Pop, anyone?), not to mention yummy! Next, the food. Typically, you don’t expect much out of bar food, right? This place sets the bar high! Delicious finger foods and appetizers. I remember the chicken fingers were especially tasty. At one point in time they even used to have a bowl of Lucky Charms cereal on the menu. I told you they were fun! Lastly, the staff. All of the girls who wait the tables are super sweet, friendly, and want to make sure you’re having a great time. Like I said earlier, they give great recommendations if you’re not sure what to get or where to start. Just give them an idea of what you like and they’ll give you some options. I’ve always had a LOT of fun here. Not once have I been disappointed!

We came here for a bachelorette party. We weren’t the only ones with that idea… I think there were at least 2 other ones there that night. Overall, I’d say the clientele is 21 – 25 on a Saturday night. Made us feel a little old, but hey, it’s a college bar, right? Everyone was chatty, nice and we got our beers quickly. What else can you ask for?

Johnny J’s is definitely the best place to watch the game. Any game. They have a million flat screens. I love Browns Sundays on their patio in Fall and Indians games in the summer. The food is pretty good and they have a huge menu. Taco Tuesday is the best. 99 cent tacos? For real? Count me in! Their drinks are reasonably priced and well prepared. Thank goodness, because it’s easy to stay there and drink for a long time. I have proven that a number of times. I am always so exited to see how small my bar tab is. Great crowd in the afternoon and evenings. I usually split around 8pm(unless there’s a game on) when the crowd gets a little«youthful» and the backless tops and Uggs start outnumbering the jerseys. I am sure it’s a blast. Just not my cup of tea. Probably time to head up the hill in search of jeans, t-shirts and flip flops…
