John S Knight Center

Even though I grew up in Akron, my only experiences with the John S. Knight Center have really been with Festival of Trees.
The Festival of Trees is a great way to spend a few hours near the holidays. Admission is free. It’s a collection of more then 200 trees, all decorated and donated, with the proceeds of their sales benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised each year for this important cause!
The trees themselves are beautiful. Going to the festival always makes me feel like it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Last year, we went and saw a tree made entirely of LeBron’s shoes; so awesome!
It can get a little cramped, admittedly. The biggest room with the trees has a line-​like system and sometimes people are going the wrong way, children are screaming and crying, people are bumping into you if the line isn’t moving fast enough.
But overall, definitely worth a visit, at least once!
