The staff were friendly and honest. The salad ingredients were freshly prepared including romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, radishes, and guacamole topped with pork carnita and home-made guacamole salad dressing. Good quality and healthy in downtown Akron across from Lock 3.

El Gato is right next to Lockview so it is the perfect downtown location tucked away on main street. I ordered tacos which were very cheap at $ 2 a piece They were small but very tasty and a nice way to try all four types of meats offered(carnitas, steak, chicken) She had a burrito and said El Gato has bottles of Brooklyn Summer Ale even in the winter and because this is my all-time favorite beer this alone means I will be back. They also had 20 or so different types of other bottled beer including several Mexican beers. The atmosphere inside is cozy and intimate. While the seating area is small but more than enough space to have quiet meal. The setting inside is kind of similar to Lockview with black and white movies and the extensive beer list. The service was very good and the establishment was very clean place. In fact the restrooms were immaculate print — I guess we’ll see how long that lasts. will definitely back, next time will try the disco fries. Draw

Had two delicious meals there, and it was efficient. The staff was very polite, but not phoney. The art and the atmosphere compliment the simplicity of the food.

i’ve been there twice now. the bowl just was ok, but today, toady i had the fries, and they were amazing. Guac and potatos is kind of a surprising combo, i also added steak, and it absolutely blew me away. I’ll be back.

I really wanted to like this place, because I’m a big fan of The Lockview. The staff is really nice and helpful, and the restaurant itself is really cool. I love the red paint, and all of the lucha artwork. But the food is bland at best. I had the chicken, which was good. But the beans were bland, and the salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. And $ 3 for a Jarritos or a Mexican Coke is ridiculous. If you’re downtown and have the taste for Mexican food, check them out. I think i’m just spoiled by places like La Loma and Rancheros Taqueria.

I will give it more than one chance, but disappointed with my first stop. The chicken was mostly burnt in my bowl. Otherwise it was okay, great portion for the price. Also got chips which were really salty. Looking forward to trying something else and the disco fries. Friendly service and a different type of atmosphere that’s pretty cool.

Man their burritos be hittin and those disco fries bang! I really like the atmosphere there too. I have seen complaints on here about the street tacos being small… Idk what street tacos ya’ll have eaten but I’ve never seen them get any bigger, plus they’re 2 bucks so quit complaining. Only issue i had really was i had a bit too much rice on my burrito and they dont have fountain drinks but really who cares. Looks like they’re going more for a different feel and they dont seem like a fast food restuarant. Don’t go there trying to compare it to chipotle cuz guess what… Its not chipotle! It’s a brand new place that could use a few minor improvements but honestly i like it and I’ll go again for sure.

Unless Desperado, El Gato Goro Somewhere Elso. Very little meat in the burrito and had no more flavor then Taco bell for double the price. A sad Chipotle clone.

I tried the el gato burrito. It was just ok. I was expecting something a step above places like chipotle, hot head, or Moes Southwest, but instead the burrito was a step below. I was hoping for something that was a bit more Chef Inspired, more creative.
