Enjoyed another delicious meal at Edgar’s last night. Amazing food! It’s hard to choose what to have because the selections all sound so delicious. I had the grouper and I’m not sorry. We had a party of 6 and everyone loved their meal. I agree with some of the reviews that say it’s nothing like Crave and in my mind, that’s a good thing. The menu has SO much more to choose from and I personally think the food is not only considerably better, but the portions are no comparison either. You will not leave Edgar’s hungry! Don’t miss the risotto stuffed pepper appetizer! I would give 10 stars if I could.

Amazing food, good prices and a great wine selection! Chef Glen’s attention to detail on every dish is outstanding. This is truly my favorite dining experience in Akron! The grouper and seafood salads are more than worth the hour drive to this restaurant. My husband loves everything from the smoker. Glen has perfected his craft of smoking and you can’t go wrong here!

Really good flavorful food. My most recent visit was for the The Sunday Pig Skin Buffet. The barbecue brunch was delicious.

Went here for our 2nd anniversary. Our service was exactly what we needed– all of our needs were met from our knowledgeable server Tamikia, food was awesome, drinks were great. I had the pork chop and my husband had the French dip… would recommend both!

Me and my husband had a great time very friendly staff good food, next time well sit on the patio. Edgar Burger was juicy and delicious, but I didn’t care for the twice baked potato, but fries where great. My husband got a lemon drop martini, I should’ve stole, my Mojito was good but their«house grown mint» was a bit over powering. Over great place can’t wait to go back.

A group of us(4 women) went to Edgars to celebrate a birthday. We had been there on several occasions because the food is, simply put… amazing! The is the ONLY reason we go back. The service is consistently bad… seems to be getting more lax. We waited over 15 minutes after being seated for someone to bring a pitcher of water and 4 glasses. All set on the side of the table. After we each grabbed a glass and poured our own water, we were asked if we would like something to drink. We ordered our beverages and asked if we could put in an order for appetizers at the same time. We were told«just a sec». She brought 4 plates and a bread basket. all set on the edge of the table. About 10 minutes later. Our drinks came in about another 10 minutes and then we were asked if we were ready to order. I said yes… for appetizers AND we should place our dinner order as well. We had been there almost an hour by that time. Our apps, and salads came about the same time. The meal was not far behind and then the waitress kept asking if we were finished with our app and salad plates. All of a sudden she was in a rush to clear the table after basically ignoring us prior. I don’t get it. If I get hungry for Edgars again, it will be takeout and I don’t have to worry about a tip for extremely poor service!

My husband and I always talk about trying this place, but never could figure out a good time to go. We finally went and I wish we had tried it earlier. The complimentary bread was very good. They charge for refills but the first helping was very generous. I had the pulled pork Cuban salad. It was delicious. The chef smokes his own meat and the pork was so tasty. The cilantro vinaigrette complimented the meet and the other toppings perfectly. My husband had the grouper salad which he enjoyed but did not think the saffron vinaigrette was very good. Unfortunately, the service was pretty slow for a week night. My husband ordered a beer and the waitress forgot to pick it up from the bar for 15 minutes. I can’t really hold this against them too much as there was a large party on the patio.

We decided to go to Edgar’s after seeing a review in an article on the 15 greatest restaurants in Akron. It did not disappoint. Prior to our experience we read most reviews available on other people’s experiences at Edgar’s, and went in with average expectations. However, it was anything but average… try amazing! First off our server, Tamikia, was splendid! She was polite, attentive, and extremely pleasant. I cannot write enough about how great her being our server made our experience! Second, the food was absolutely spot on. I’m talking flavor, portions, and price. I ordered the smoked prime rib and she ordered the grouper salad. Sweet mother of God… that prime rib! Anyway, my compliments to the chef and his staff that night. They did a spectacular job preparing the food. Third and finally, the environment was welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. Although the air conditioning was possibly on the fritz, it was a nice atmosphere for a night of casual Friday night dining. I almost forgot the drinks! We ordered two Irish mules(Jameson, ginger beer, and a slice of lime), and not only were they delicious, they were strong. Thank you! A stiff drink is always appreciated. We will absolutely be returning and thank you to the staff at Edgar’s Restaurant! Truly a diamond in the rough.

Where do I start? Great menu! The asparagus wrapped in prosciutto with goat cheese and candied walnuts were outstanding! I had the black grouper special that was perfect with flavors and preparation. Girlfriend had scallops which were tender and cooked perfectly. Desserts are made by local bakery. Lemon blueberry marscapone cake was delicious. Good wine list. Eclectic menu and clientele. Had live music too on a Saturday night. Good prices too.

One of my very favorite restaurants in town! Their fish tacos are the best in the land! Went to California and anticipated great fish tacos… nothing compared to Edgars! Always a great menu and quality food… off the beaten path and delicious!

I eat here frequently however, I just ate here on March 24th for my birthday and I was very disappointed. I ordered the stuffed pork chop which is usually delicious and it was under cooked and the stuffing was dry. I still love the restaurant but I hope this was an isolated incident. Would really hate to look for another favorite restaurant.

I saw someone compare this place to d.b.a. And crave. I’m sorry but it’s nothing close .dba and crave are edible, Edgar’s is not. This place is like a glorified Perkins, service was terrible, tables were sticky and the food was like it was microwaved. I’m still very confused how the quality of this place is compared to dba and crave.

The food here is always wonderful. Service, however, is hit and miss. We reserved our table early this afternoon, but I was disappointed to see that we were seated in the bar rather than the dining room. Our server was inexperienced. He neglected us all evening. However, management is top notch and made things right. We will give them another chance, but with another server.

Amazing Fine Dining in West Akron! The food is to die for and the ambiance is great as well! My favorite is the Smoked Prime Rib, or the Creole a Stuffed Pork Chop. The service is stupendous, just an overall great experience. Fyi: you will have leftovers as the portions could feed 2 – 3 people!

Funky, Local, Friendly. From BBQ to Cajun to Gourmet specials, this is the place. Farm to Fork philosophy at Edgar’s. Chef Glenn Rocks It! Hidden in a Golf Course, plenty of parking, Patio seating, Fun Bar, Refined Dining Room. Attentive service. What’s not to like?

Did not live up to the hype on Unilocal. This place reminds me of Crave and D.B.A. – creative-sounding dishes that are unfortunately not well executed or balanced. I had the oxtail, and my boyfriend had the stuffed pork. While both portions were huge, the meats were very dry and the flavors were one-note and bland. The décor(including the carpet) on the outdoor dining area was also very outdated. I was not impressed and won’t be returning.

A public golf course. West side of Akron. Getting off 77 at Copley road. Driving through the kind of neighborhood you’d not want to find yourself in after dark. This sounds like a recipe for a disaster of a meal. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Welcome to Edgar’s Restaurant. Attached to the clubhouse of JD Good golf course, this Is my «Pleasant Surprise» winner for 2014. We arrived to find a casual upscale atmosphere, and we were seated on a patio overlooking the finishing hole. Beautiful view on a beautiful evening. Promptly greeted and offered a carafe of water, and small loaf of local artisan bread. It was tasty. Like, really tasty. We ordered drinks and dinner, and awaited for their arrival. First came the salad, dark mixed greens with mini croutons. I ordered the white French dressing which was outstanding. Next came my entrée. The creole stuffed bone in pork chop. They get their proteins from Duma Meats in Mogadore, scoring them bonus points in my book. My chop was huge. As in, this hog must have felt picked on as a piglet and bought a gym membership, huge. It was stuffed to the gills with a creole crabmeat. Overall, very flavorful and tender. Crabmeat was solid. It came with smoked asparagus and a German style potato salad. Both were divine. At $ 22, it was a bargain as this will be my lunch tomorrow. I was far too stuffed to order dessert, until the tray came out. Five minutes and one baklava cheesecake slice(and a sample of my Moms lemon berry cheesecake) later, I was on my way, a fat(ter), happy man. Overall, this place is a winner. Excellent food, competitive pricing for the quality, and an excellent ambiance to boot. To top it off, the executive chef came out to ask how we enjoyed out meal. A delightful find in a very unexpected place. Well done Edgar’s.

Four of us for dinner — here’s the story… We made a reservation for a Tuesday evening dinner with a booth in the bar. When we arrived we were seated in the dining room. Hmmm. When our salads came we found the dressings were thin and tasteless. One of our party commented«you basic stuff out of a bottle is better.» Our food took forever to arrive. We wished we had timed the process –but agreed we should not have had to do so. We were told there were a lot of people off of the golf course. The grouper salad looked great. But, the fish, although hot, was soft and very«mushy.» It was about the biggest piece of fish I have ever seen served. Was it really grouper? Maybe, But if it was, the restaurant probably sold it a financial loss — likely? Regardless, it was not good. The vegetable pasta looked good, but was a bit bitter. So, here’s the basis for the rating: — Service: 3.0 — Ambiance: 3.5 — Good quality: 2.0(generous rating) — Food quantity: 4.0, maybe a bit better — Prices/value: 2.0(would have warranted a 4 or better if the food had been good) We can’t think if a single reason to go back — and likely won’t.

Another one of Akron’s hidden gems. This place is fantastic!!! Located at Good Park golf course in west Akron. This course has been in my family for years. My grandfather worked there for years up until he died(they even have a memorial for him on the 4th hole) and now my uncle works there. So when Edgar’s opened we couldn’t have been more excited. It’s brings so much to the golf course The food is 5 stars — no matter what you get! Last night, we celebrated my moms bday — for appetizers we had hog shanks(deliciously amazing, meat is so tender falls right off the bone) calamari, beef tips, and stuffed banana peppers. Although we were pretty full after those apps, we still ordered dinner and everyone cleaned their plate. From fish tacos, to lover and onions — everyone was pleased and stuffed! The staff is the best part! So personable and accommodating. The live music on the weekends is a nice touch. Finally we rolled out of there in a good coma, but we will be back, we always come back!!! My tip: go eat there!!!
