Customer service is not trained here. We waited over an hour for our dinners while multiple tables that came in after us dined and left. When asked, the server said it was because we had a group. The groups that came in after us totalled a larger number than our group. Once the food did come out they had brought the wrong potato for one of us. Versus giving them the plate with the potato and bringing out the correct potato, they removed the potato in the dining room and sat the plate down in front of them. The food actually tasted good, but service was awful! Won’t go back.

Our neighbor and her daughter invited us to this restaurant on 3⁄25. It’s a nice place and the food was good. The bathrooms are clean, nicely tiled with cool glass sinks and a trough faucet I found to be a welcome change from the usual standard plumbing one finds in restaurant bathrooms. The décor, at least what there is of it, is sparse. I guess the owner just likes painted walls, simple window trim, a few framed posters and basic wood tables and chairs and wasn’t really trying to re-create Italy in her dining rooms. There’s a good amount of seating and plenty of room between tables. Based on my experience I would return but with the hope of not getting the same server, an elderly lady with a bit of an attitude who should consider what comments she makes to customers. I’m going to list a few things I did NOT like, in the hope that the owner will read this review and use it to make improvements. First, we were sat in the main dining area, and there was white paper all over the floor around a large table adjacent to us: straw wrappers, pieces of napkin, etc, and the entire time we were there, NOONE attempted to pick it up. The staff just walked over it like it wasn’t even there. I really do not like to eat my dinner while I have to stare at garbage on the floor. This could have been picked up in 3 seconds by anyone who worked there. Even the owner, an elderly lady dressed in red when we were there, acted like it didn’t exist. PLEASE, you own a restaurant. People eat there. The floor should be kept clean. There should not be garbage on the floor when people are eating. Second, when someone orders the all-you-can-eat fish and you’re the server, and you ask the customer if he/she would like more fish and the customer replies, yes, 4 pieces, DONOTASKTHECUSTOMER: OK, YOUCANEAT4PIECES? It is not the server’s place to ask the customer if he/she can eat the number of pieces he/she requested. It’s the server’s job to just bring the customer what he/she asked for and that is it. Just for doing this, I shaved money off the tip. I don’t appreciate being treated like a 5-year-old when I am an adult and paying for the check. Watch yourselves, servers. Always be kind and treat people with respect. Third, there was a mishap with my baked potato that was actually kind of comical. The server brought sour cream and what I thought was butter but what was really tartar sauce for the fish. Without my glasses on, it looked like butter so I put it on my baked potato. Imagine my surprise. The owner did bring me another potato but did point out snidely that it was clear that it was tartar sauce because of some sort of specks in it. Ummm… NOTWITHOUTMY GLASSESON, ITISN’T. ITLOOKSLIKEBUTTER. But I thank the owner for her unnecessary snide comment. Maybe someday you’ll make an innocent mistake and someone will respond to you in a similar manner. Lastly, service was OK, but often our server would disappear and we had to wait an unreasonable amount of time for her to get back to us for drink refills, napkins, even the check. It was semi-busy but not so busy that we had to wait as long as we did. I think if we had had another server, we would have seen her more — and sooner. This restaurant has been around for a long time. Overall, I think it’s a very decent place. I would go back but I think there is definitely room for improvement and they are all simple things. I would rate it 3.5 but I’ll round up to 4 because we ordered the butterscotch pie to go and it was delicious.

First time guest, last time guest. Good lake perch. That’s about the only nice thing I have to say. We got sat, waited 15 minutes till the manager said ‘oh no one’s helped you’ a server told us she forgot to tell anyone, but she did nothing to improve the situation. Dispite acknowledging our long wait we still waited about 4 more minutes to get someone to help us. I asked for no lemon in my Ice tea, got lemon. My boyfriend got his salad, no dressing. We had to wait about 7 minutes till we finally were able to get ranch. Maybe if they would of said sorry or anything but ‘oh’ for leaving us waiting so long I’d be more understanding. Shame I like to support my local small business. This was disappointing.

I lived in a townhouse down the street from Rose Villa for 5 years. One evening during a snow storm when I couldn’t get my car out of the driveway(loser landlord) I hoofed it to this restaurant in nearly a foot and a half of snow. This was my first visit and I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff. My husband and I opted for Rose Villa last weekend to watch the Ohio State game and grab an early dinner. We sat in the lounge which is dimly lit and cozy. While we were there a large party was in the adjacent room celebrating an older woman’s birthday. The party room has french doors and TV sets(which I guess increases the likelihood of men attending any function). What struck me was the kindness and special service that the waitstaff extended to this party(and especially the«birthday girl» who was wheeled in in a wheel chair). I ordered red wine and my better-half ordered a seasonal beer. We shared spicy crab balls and steamed little neck clams for appetizers. Wow! The crab balls were akin to sauerkraut balls with an extra kick… delicious! For dinner I had the Octoberfest Sampler with keilbasa, sausage, sauerkraut, a potato pancake, schnitzel and(drum roll) — spaetzle! We are presently on a spaetzle kick in our house(which is not a slimming food.) Rose Villa’s spaetzle did not dissapoint. I actually had to force myself to stop eating it so that my husband would have some left for his lunch the next day! Soooo good! My husband had the grilled Walley special, which he told me was just«okay»(he prefers it breaded). We did order pie for dessert(blueberry with extra whipped cream and peach). To top it off we got a visit from the owner. This is a warm, friendly, welcoming place with delicious food.

Great restaurant! The food was delicious, fresh and clearly homemade, service was very courteous and prices were excellent! I had a larger party than usual for a special event, and everyone in my party commented on both the quality and the affordability of the food. I’m glad I chose the Rose Villa instead of a chain restaurant and would recommend it to anyone.

Great food and amazing prices. My wife and I were staying by the inner state and didn’t want a chain restaurant. We found this and will go back if we are in Akron. The sauerkraut balls appetizer was great and we hadn’t seen that item before. I had the Italian sampler and it was very good, especially the lasagne. My wife had spaghetti and meatballs, which was also excellent. We had two starters, salads and entrees for 40 dollars. Incredibly affordable. Highly recommend if you want a local hole in the wall place.

Sat in the restaurant, we were the only ones there except for one other table. The food was cooked decent but pretty bland, not really any spices used at all. Salad had water all in the bottom of the dish made it pretty gross. Server was very good and attentive. Just not my favorite.

I really enjoyed my food, service and the view here. It was a nice day out so I say outside. The bartender serviced me and she was extremely nice. She said she had worked there for 18 years. I think that really says something about the place if they’ve been able to retain staff that long. The mahi was good too.

About a 4 ½. Nice variety of fish and lots of other options. Their pike is what I remember from when I was a kid, 40+ years ago. Still excellent(fried), though the breading could use a bit of seasoning, or some lemon wedges on the side would help. Fries still good, side salads are okay. The perch is good, too, and the Alaska cod was well-received. Save room for pie – they have a dozen(or more) varieties, made in house. Today we had Dutch apple cherry walnut – not much to look at, but boy was it tasty!

I don’t really know how to rate this. I go there often but it is a hit or miss restaurant. On a good night this place is 5 star all the way, bad night I give it a 2. The owner is an amazing lady though when she’s there it’s always good. Another thing the pie is ALWAYS good there!

Excellent food and staff! It’s one of those places that is quiet and unassuming but it’s always worth stopping in.

So, disclaimer, I’ve been coming here since I was probably 3 years old. I order one or two things on the menu — fried perch or a chicken sandwich with pineapple and swiss. And the fries are good. The soup and pies are homemade. The staff is super friendly and attentive.

The service was good but the food was blah. None was homemade or if it was they use the exact same recipe that sams club uses. The soup was obviously canned. I had their version of the«tour of italy» and the alfredo was from a jar, the marinara sauce was like tomato paste with some parsley and the lasanga tasted like heated up stouffers. For those looking for great italian, look elsewhere but if you are in a hurry and just want a sandwich or something it is probably right in line for that.

Many of the items here are home made and it definitely shows. The Italian food is awesome, some of the best Alfredo sauce I have had. I always seem to get a steak here as it is one the only places that can cook it to perfection. They can make it with a demi glaze or blacken it to your liken. A hidden gem in the portage lakes with reasonable prices. Enjoy
