This place is awesome… In a day when bars treat you like sh** and expect you to thank them for selling you expensive drinks… Dano’s has great prices wonderful service oriented staff who I believe really care to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves.

Cheers. From the owner to the dishwasher, this crew is a class act. I’ve never seen such a well executed dive bar before. Dano is a community supporter, engaged in fundraisers and the like. This is a must see for anyone who lives in the area but hasn’t stopped in yet. Other reviewers are right — it isn’t much to see, to an out-​of-​towner. But it just sort of grows on you over time, whether you go once a week or once a year.
Not kid friendly, not even for lunch — I say this only because the restrooms are in a state of disrepair that requires at least a teenager to survive.

Great pub with real character. Good crowd, friendly people, decent pub menu and delicious free popcorn. Nice patio that overlooks the lake. If you are in the area I would highly recommend you boat up, drop anchor and grab a beer or three.

Always found this to be a comfortable, frendly place on the lakes — a dive bar, yes — but reasonably spacious, and the large windows overlooking the lake make it slightly less «divey.» Service has always been good — a lot of «regulars» here to be sure, but strangers won’t feel unwelcome.
We sometimes go here right after work, or later at night when we’re done with some of the more crowded places on The Lakes. A real Portage Lakes Original — you’ll probably have a good time here. Food decent and very affordable.

If you like a local bar atmosphere this is the place to be. I’ve been going to this bar forever and I have never seen as much as an argument in the place. Bartenders are exceptional and you will never wait for a drink. Food is good and they have specials each day. Just a happy place on the lake you should try Dano’s.

Most def a dive bar.
It’s been here forever. The menu and beer lineup don’t change much, as well as the customers (it’s a townie bar). The bartenders might change, but every time I’ve come here I’ve experienced the same good service and reasonable prices. The selection and atmosphere are nothing special. However, if you want to go to a place where everybody knows your name, this is the place for you.
Or you could go to the Cheers Bar in Boston, but fuck that.
