If this were the Akron Hometown Pansy Shoppe, it would sell flowers. If it were the Akron Hometown Panda Shoppe, it would probably also sell Bamboo. And if it were the Akron Hometown Panty Shoppe, then it would sell a different kind of treats. But it is none of those things. This place has baked goods and ice cream treats, including milkshakes, which is what I stopped here for. Every town should have a little place like this to delight the locals. What was not so delightful was the size of my to-go shake(if a Mini Cooper were built into a Shake, it would be this one), and the price wasn’t exactly modest given how tiny it was, and the taste was… to be kind… over-the-top-syrupy-sweet-and-über-chocolatey, and maybe that is your thing, but I generally like more delicate tasting choc shakes. This one was so sweet and thick and chocolatey that it reminded me of King Condrell’s. Having said that, that sort of shake might be your thing, and if it is, you’ll love this. And who needs an enormous shake anyway, so many calories! And if you don’t consider the size, this one is cheaper than most these days. And more importantly it is a little family place in a little town and is doing its best to sell lovely treats to the town and so it scores a 4 for that reason. By the way I think they close at 5 or so, so don’t get there late and expect a treat!

A sweet, homey café and restaurant. The décor’s a little kitschy, but the sugar waffles and other pastries are very good, and there’s something to recommend a place where you can chat with the owner as she makes your sandwich.
