If there were 10 stars to give I would give them to Franklin from Solar Services Hawaii. I called with a no hot water and our solar company is no longer in business problem. Larry sent Franklin over and he was here for about four hours CRAWLING on his stomach across our attic to get to the problem wiring. He had to do this three or four times and was such a trooper about it. This was not an easy fix and he stuck with it and finished the job. These guys are my new heros. I HIGHLY recommend them! As Karl K. said in his post– nothing ‘slick’ going on but in this case, I appreciate the no nonsense just get the job done approach. D.C. Mist

Man, the cool crew of guys from Solar Services Hawaii came over and set up solar water heater and photovoltaic panels right before the end of the year. Nice tax write off. 5⁄5 They have no fear of heights. They have a good size crew. They have good hard working attitude with polite manners. 5⁄5 We had cool water and drinks for the workers in a cooler so they could help themselves. Fortunately, our garage bathroom was easily accessible for the workers. That was a good reason for us to be home and make sure we knew who was coming in and out. They were sure to ask permission each time. Very courteous. 5⁄5 The crew worked hard and had everything done in a couple of visits. The panels look great. The solar water heater alone was 4×10 feet and 150 pounds. Amazing technique and strength to get it up on the roof. And the water is nice and hot. 5⁄5 18 photo voltaic panels for now. we’ll see what the electric bill average savings is in a couple of cycles. Then if needed, we can add more in the following tax cycle. 5⁄5(We didn’t add more because we only put on what would be legally qualifying for the full tax break. Maybe we’ll put on more panels in the future if our bill doesn’t reach the $ 16.00 mark.) Mahalo Solar Guy Jeff Davis(the tax«expert» with the green blazing truck that’s all pimped out in advertising) and Lawrence Ponce(owner of the company) for the great service you provide and for the education to the State of Hawaii. You guys rock!!! I want the whole world to join in the solar movement. It is not a craze. It is a strategy to manage the skyrocketing electric bills. 5⁄5 Thank you! Unilocal 365 Challenge: 107⁄365

As mentioned by others, SOLARSERVICESHAWAII is not«slick» as a couple of the«big boys» in the local solar industry are. They don’t have any huge television advertising campaigns going on. But, being«slick» is a double-edged sword: someone’s going to have to pay for those ad costs, and it could well be the consumers, via the prices charged for products being sold. Besides, «slick» has the connotation of being«slippery.» Believe me, some of them are indeed«slippery,» very close to being in the same league as door-to-door vacuum cleaner sales people. The presentation was low-key and SSH utilizes high-quality modules, the SANYOHIT series, as the cornerstone of their systems. They were one of six companies I spoke with who offer the Sanyo. However, they were at my upper-limit of $ 30K for a 20-panel system and $ 45K for 30. Even factoring the tax credits, the net cost for 20 panels was $ 1140 more than the«winning bid,» which had a lower gross price by $ 2000. Still, paying about $ 1100 more in net cost may be a small price to pay compared with forking over $ 7K more in gross system price($ 3.5−4.0K net) by going with one of the«big boys.» At the very least, you’ll get a high quality system comprised of top-notch components with Solar Services Hawaii. 3.75STARS, rounded up.
