I wouldn’t recommend this place if your looking for anything with skin fade or sow thing similar.

Worst haircut experience I’ve had on island in almost 5 years. I was about to walk in subway and thought I could use a quick trim. I was seated right away and the elderly lady came out and asked what I wanted. I said gentleman’s cut, medium fade and I’m not in the military. Just a trim please. 35 minutes later I had to stand up because enough is enough. Here is a pick of the back of my head after she was done. Try not to laugh. Horrible haircut no excuse.

Don’t waist your time and money on this place. Horrible service!!! They kept on pointing fingers on who to cut my kids hair. They’re not good with kids. The older lady who’s chair on the front window shouldn’t be cutting hair. My kids hair has too many rat bite, I asked her if she could fix it and make it clean. She went ahead and grab another person to cut hair. I waited patiently to get her to do my kids hair again. She went to go in the back for a break. I asked the older man if he could fix my kids hair. He said no I have another client coming in. Another lady and that up fixing my kids here. I don’t know why I gave $ 15 tips on top of the $ 12 charge. I didn’t want to be rude to everybody in there. Never again will I come to this place. What a nightmare!!! Seriously this place needs to close down. Horrible place to cut hair!!!

When I called I was told it was $ 14 for a woman’s haircut. After My haircut it was $ 18. I was satisfied but I felt bad I only had a $ 20 so a $ 2 tip was not enough since I love my new hair. The woman was nice and took her time cutting and styling my hair. I would recommend this place. Cash only…

Moneyball: patient, meticulous, cheap
Makes: man I wish I had a good experience like everyone else, unfortunately, I did not. Fixed up their mistake decently though.
Misses: Usually I trust barbers, once I tell them what I would like, to do their thing without me coaching and watching them the whole time, but man I guess that’s got to stop. This is the second time in a row in two different places I said not too short and all of a sudden I go from hair that’s 3″ long on the top and 1″ on the sides to 1″ on the top and 0.1″ on the sides. I specifically told her that the last place made the mistake of buzzing way too short (at least they offered a free future cut but no way I was going back) and I asked her to not cut too much from what I currently had because I like it longer. I used to go to supercuts when I lived in Mililani where they would ask and actually listen to what you want done to your hair. So far after moving to aiea all three places I’ve been to cut my hair based on what they wanted, not what I said I wanted. When I said not too short supercuts would always scissor cut my sides. This place buzzed the heck out of my hair because I have a discolored scalp with white and dark patches and/​or girigiris and/​or balding patches (those were the excuses she have for buzzing shorter and shorter and shorter). Funny how I have never had those problems before at supercuts Mililani for the past 20 years of my life.
I really wanted to like this place, the lady is super nice and detail oriented, but I gotta look at this for the next month or two before my hair grows out to how I like it, again, after I told her what had happened before.
Trust the other reviews because maybe she just had a bad day or wasn’t paying attention because it was the end of the day.

Worst place on the face of the earth to get a shave. Started with clippers then Cold towel, cold soap, cold brush. Towel was only placed on my neck. What happened to the old barber shops? I will be going home to shave.

Got my haircut today and all I can say is WOW!!! The lady that cut my hair made sure everything was perfect… She even cleaned my sideburns and back of my head with a razor… You hardly see anybody use a razor anymore… Definitely my go to place from now on…

This place was awful! Went there Monday after reading few reviews and cause was close to my place. The old man doesn’t even have the proper scissor! Today after 4 days I’m going to another barber to fix my hair cause I can’t stand it anymore. I don’t know about the old lady but for sure I won’t go back to try. $ 13.50 and no rinse at the end.

Fantastic haircut from the older woman, and I was glad she was there. Made sure every stray hair was dealt with and she also gave me the straight razor special on my sideburns and back. Not a slow haircut, so if you are in a rush for a haircut and go get one of «those»…this isn’t what they do. Tipped well for the great service and they deserved it.
So refreshing to have a quality barber I can trust!

I walked in there with no appointment. I had never been to this location before but decided to go here since the location that I used to go to raised prices.
The location isnt hard to find. Its right across the street from Diners in Waimalu. When I walked in, there was only one lady getting a haircut/​style. The other lady cutting hair had no customers so I sat right away. I believe her name was Kim (the sticker on the mirror in front of me said so).
She asked what I needed and just began cutting away. It never felt rushed at all. She took her time and really made sure that what she was doing was perfect. for the back and sideburns, she actually shaved it off with a razor. At other haircutting places, they just used the shaver to cut it.
As for the style, she suggested I cut it short and «spike» my hair… cause thats how the young guys do it. She said that I chose and «old guy» hairstyle. Hilarious!
I told her, «yeah…next time!». I’ll definitely go back to this place for my next hair cut. Not only was it done well, it was done cheap. Only $ 13…so I left a decent tip. She insists that it was too much but it my entire cut plus tip is still cheaper than what my other place charged WITHOUT tip!

The older lady cut my son’s hair. She is so sweet & patient. The haircut was ok but the price is right-​only $ 12. Watched them doing other clients while I waited. Everyone seemed happy. They take their time & do a good job. Cash only.

Ask for Ms. Marylin Independent Stylist. I love my hair every time I go in. She is in the back her service is great. By appointment only. Once you get in you will love your hair.

Tops Supercuts & Fantastic Sams by far. Only my 2^nd time there with my 6 year old son & both times he recieved the BEST crew cut with a GREAT price. Everyone that works there is very patient and child friendly. All i can say is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

This shop recently moved in to a vacant space — a CPA used to occupy the unit. I had noticed the barber shop initially from its telltale «Barber pole» (you know, the swirly device affixed outside barber shops of old).
I have been growing my hair out long since returning from NYC, including my facial hair. My beard/​stache was growing out nicely; at one point I can safely say I resembled Adam Jensen from Deus Ex: Human Revolution, so I was quite amused for a while. But back to the review…
Today, I just got tired of having my gnarly, bristly, Asian beard that was approaching FuManchu status. It was also annoying to my chihuahua, who found it uncomfortable to be poked and prodded by my growing stache/​beard as I leaned over to nuzzle him. In fact, apparently it was so distressing to him that when I rubbed my cheek against his, he growled and looked at me with contempt!
I’ve been spoiled senseless by the loving care of my Russian barber in Hell’s Kitchen who knew how to transform the simple, mundane male routine known as shaving into a near religious experience. Therefore, coming back to Hawaii and doing a cold walk into a random barbershop had me on edge — would they deliver this same, skillful art as my NYC barber at a reasonable and fair price?
At around 2PM today, Pearlridge Barber Shop had two patrons having hair trimmed by two nice Korean ladies. Standing to the side was a young local guy around my age, chatting. I later learned that this was Jordan, their only male barber, who happened to have the day off today and was just in to cut his cousin’s hair.
Though he was just in for a short time and needed to get back home, Jordan courteously sat me down on one of their black leather chairs and set to work. Since my stache/​beard combo was past the cool and refined Adam Jensen stage and was beginning to reach the Scott Ian (Anthrax) braidable phase, Jordan merely took a buzzer and sawed off most of the bulk.
Then, the part I missed so much about NYC barbershops came back into focus. Jordan flipped out his straight blade and warm shaving lotion and began to smooth out the ghastly shadow that remained. Despite the fact that he had to leave, Jordan was very patient and quite meticulous — at times I forgot a college-​aged kid was wielding the straight blade. I could probably have closed my eyes and not known the difference in technique from my old Russian barber, who’s been keeping facial hair at bay for his customers over 30 years.
Anyway, after the initial cleanup and pat down, Jordan looked over my new face for signs of stubborn stubble that remained. Alas, since my facial hair is notoriously thick and hard to cut, there were a few outliers here and there. Not a problem — Jordan brought his straight blade back into commission and with a few scrapes, there was nothing but absolute smoothness all over.
The price was unbeatable too: for such meticulous work, Jordan only charged $ 8. My Russian barber in New York usually charged $ 15 and I paid $ 20 to tip. I gave Jordan $ 20 and called it even since he took so much time working on my shave — and I had ZERO nicks, scratches, or bleeding (very rare in my case since my face gets shaver bumps quickly that catch a passing blade). He also shaped up my «soul patch» which was a nice touch.
Even if you paid $ 20 like I did, I thought this was still a reasonable price. Heck, Starbucks Waimalu is 20 feet away from this barbershop and 4 Venti coffees can easily put you out $ 20 over the course of a week. I would rather have Jordan’s barber shave before an important meeting or date and look like a movie star once a week instead!
So all in all, though I haven’t had their hair styling services, I will definitely be back to Pearlridge Barber Shop for the straight blade shaves. Good prices, quick service, very good quality of work. I cannot say that Jordan’s shaving skills would be dominating my NYC Russian barber anytime soon, but he comes very, very close — and that’s huge praise, coming from me. The only thing I would recommend this barber shop and Jordan would be to add the traditional straight blade shave pampering items: hot moist towel to prep the pores, hot cream/​lather rather than warm lotion, and last but not least, the splash of cool refreshing aftershave to round off the experience. I am pretty sure that even our laid-​back local men would be glad to pay a few more dollars for this. I know that I certainly would!
