You can’t go wrong with a big portion. Their salmon was very tender and delicious. The man that works here is always friendly. There are tables outside where you can wait for your food, and he delivers it directly to you! How nice of him.

Value! Even with the price increase, Makoto Sushi is my go-to sushi spot! The taste is amazing for sushi that’s $ 10!

I’ve been having a constant crave for seafood & I felt I paid one too many visits to the surrounding sushi places near my home… so I turned to Unilocal & found this place. It’s near my MIL’s office & I asked her about it & she seemed to have enjoyed it herself. So I tried it & here’s my findings… With a minimum purchase of $ 10 you can pay with plastic which isn’t too difficult because their plates are about $ 9 or so & if you add your drink, boom! The man at the front greeted us(me & my boyfriend) with warmth & gave us some time to decide what we wanted to order. We decided on their Top Secret plate that came with tossed salad, soy beans, wasabi, ginger & the main entrée consisted of deep fried spicy ahi on blocks of sushi rice. When asked if it was to-go or dine in, we chose to dine-in & was directed to a few open tables located right outside of the doors. It’s in a covered parking garage so it’s shady & there’s not too many cars that drive past so it’s quite. When our food was ready, the man that took our order brought it to our table along with the soy sauce — which was unexpected & really kind of him. We inhaled our order almost instantaneously because it was just that wonderful! Also during that time, the shop closed & the same man came out to let us know that they were closing but we were more than welcomed to knock on the door if we needed anything. He was very courteous, kind & patient from beginning to end & the food was a knock-out! I would recommend this place to anyone(:

This was a good value meal, but it wasn’t that tasty. Yes, there was a lot of quantity for the price, but that isn’t what usually drives my eating. I want it to be delicious first. The people here were very friendly, which I think is another reason why the Unilocal reviews are so favorable. Makoto Sushi is in a weird space in the upper part of the shopping center. There are outdoor tables and after you order, they bring the food out to you. Overall, this food was not very memorable, but if you’re in need of a large quantity of food at a decent price, this is probably an appropriate choice.

My family and I are from California and we were looking for a place to eat on Unilocal and ran across Makoto Sushi. The reviews were good and the food looked delicious. Upon arrival, the owner was very helpful and gave us recommendations on the most popular dishes. The service was very fast and the food was amazing. For a small shop, it definitely did not disappoint. The owner also didn’t charge us for extra sauce(even when there was a sign saying they charge for extra sauce) and he also gave us a complementary water bottle. I highly recommend this place! Great service and delicious food!

1. VERDICT/VALUE Don’t look for traditional sushi here, it’s all interesting fusion options and decent prices save the day! 2. FOOD Plate lunches include a small sampling of a lettuce salad with light dressing, edamame, and young ginger. On today’s visit we started with the Cherry Blossom Plate($ 9.95), a plate full of deep-fried salmon. The fish meat itself was nice, but there’s a fair amount of breading on the salmon and non-spicy eaters may not enjoy the heat on the fish! The Spam Hand Roll($ 1.29) is nicely priced but the small strip of spam leaves a lot to be desired… The Makoto Bento #2($ 9.95) features a piece each of BBQ chicken, deep-fried salmon, shrimp tempura, and spam on top of rice accompanied by two gyoza. The chicken was grilled for too long making it dry, but everything else was decent for a nicely-priced combo! 3. SERVICE Good enough for a takeout joint! 4. ATMOSPHERE Look for the tables and seats outside of the restaurants. As my fellow Unilocalers have commented, it gets busy here, so get here early! Parking is as good as it can be in the Aiea Center parking lot.

Quick service, reasonably priced for the quantity and quality of the pieces you get. Ordered in 2 minutes, received our order 5 minutes thereafter. Freshly made, so the crunch on the Dragon tears and the tempura in the Forever roll was not soggy. Comes with a small tossed salad covered in a light ponzu-ish dressing, and few soy beans and some pickled ginger. Seating is outside, a total of 6 available to easily sit 4 – 6 people each. Seemingly dog-friendly, as when we arrived there were 2 couples eating at the tables with their dogs. Nice little place near my salon. In the future will make stop here after getting my hair done done.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about this place so I finally got to try it. We came here for lunch. It’s located in aiea shopping center on the second floor, the same floor as McDonald’s. Being that it was my first time I asked the guy which rolls had spicy ahi & shrimp tempura. He recommended the forever roll, so I ordered that. My boyfriend got the spicy ahi plate. Their places are kind of like a bento set, it came with sushi, ginger, edamame, and a small salad. The pieces of the roll were huge, I couldn’t believe I didn’t finish all of it. The forever roll was spicy, I think from the sauce on top. The spicy ahi plate also tasted good. The ahi was soft & fresh, with the sauce served on top over rice. Limited outdoor seating but plenty of parking. I recommend if you are in the mood for sushi!

I tried this place out because it seemed convenient and cheap. The sushi selection is plentiful and delicious, mostly fusion rolls, poke, and bentos. No sashimi. HOWEVER, that does not subtract from the fact that I did get my food quickly and the owner was very friendly and pleasant. The sushi was definitely on par and really filling and NOTALLRICE(thank goodness!). I felt I got a good amount of sushi or maybe more compared to other sushi places around like sushi spot. The seating is outdoor and kind of in the middle of a parking garage and limited so it’s better for takeout. Would definitely go here again to get my quick sushi fix!

Makoto Sushi is a cute mom and pop sushi spot thats located in the 2nd floor of the Aiea Shopping center. Ive come here a few times and this place has always been pretty consistent when it comes down to food and service. Its a super small shop that has some tables right outside that are cutely decorated with some table cloths and condiments such as shoyu. :) Immediately upon entering, someone always greets you; whether it be the man or woman, theyre always so friendly and excited about seeing a customer. ^_^ Their menu is located immediately to the left, but there are plenty of pictures of the majority of the plates if youre a visual person like I am :) My usual has become the Spicy Ahi plate; its not the big chunks of tuna that i usually like, but the ground up pâté of ahi with sauces on top of a generous portion of rice. The plate includes some edamame and salad with some type of oriental dressing. Ive also gotten a sushi roll(I forgot which roll I had: T) and it was HUGE! The kind of sushi roll thats as big as a Maki. It was pretty good; my boyfriend really enjoyed it :) I recently tried the gyoza; $ 3.99 for about 5 or 6 pieces and the sauce that it comes with is really tasty! Oh and just an FYI; Theres a $ 10 minimum to use a debit/credit card. Plates cost around $ 7.95 so if you want to use your card, either get a drink or get a side order of gyoza! :) Oh and when leaving, the owners come out and bring the food to you and thank you; and the way they do it really shows how grateful they are that youre a customer. :) Love: –Food; try the spicy ahi plate! So good x3 –Prices: really decently priced for the amount of food given. Its so filling! –Parking: isnt that bad. you can usually find a spot within a few minutes, and its under the shade –Service: Sooo incredibly friendly! Lets support local! ^_^ Took away a star because: –Tried going there one time and had found that they closed 40 minutes early??! D: Whyyyyyy.

Makoto Sushi is a tiny take out sushi spot in the back of the Aiea mid-level parking lot. Head to Makoto for creatively named and crafted rolls like the King of Fire and the Magic Roll, they also make dons, hand rolls, and bentos. I tried the Bento #4 and Sweet Honey Roll. The bento featured Spicy Korean Pork, 2 Frozen Shrimp Tempura, Spam, and Frozen Gyoza. It was not as impressive, I suggest skipping the bentos and getting all rolls if you go. The Sweet Honey was huge and had just about everything in it. Frozen Shrimp Tempura and Unagi center, Imitation Crab Salad, Ahi, Tobiko, Corn Flakes, and Sauce on top. It might have had a few too many things going on, but the over the top creations are what draw people in. Service is fast and friendly and there are a few outdoor tables off the parking lot, if you want to stay and eat. This is definitely not traditional Japanese, it’s sushi’s wild, fun-loving cousin.

What a hidden gem! Rolls are huge. Two of us split three rolls and some mandoo and we were approaching critical mass. About $ 10 per roll, and definitely worth it. All items were packaged in to-go Styrofoam with ginger and wasabi. A few tables next to the parking, hardly atmospheric, but you can take it anywhere, of course. Super friendly gentleman at the counter. There was a party of five right before us(little room inside the storefront), and it appears to be a two man operation, so it took a while to get our food. No matter, because everything was fresh and delicious. All was forgiven. The rolls are also very interesting. Loads of flavors, lots of texture, cute names. I had the sweet honey roll, with crunchy corn flake bits, unagi, tasty sauces, and plenty more I can’t even remember! My dining partner had two rolls and the fish and avocado on both was very fresh. He also requested no cucumber on one, and they happily obliged. Generous size, too. If not for Unilocal,I’d have had no idea this place existed, much less commanded 4.5 stars. Very unassuming from the outside, but you can’t judge this book by its cover.

What a pleasant guy manning the register! It isn’t fine dining but it satiated my sushi craving! At around $ 10 per roll we got 8 decently sized pieces per roll. When we walked in, we were immediately told that there would be about a 15 minute wait for the food. Fair warning, which I appreciated. After asking for suggestions and being told that the 911 roll was too spicy-I still opted to order the 911 roll: p My tongue paid for my stubbornness about 10 minutes later. The roll was visually lovely and it wasn’t until about the second piece where my lip start feeling tingly… seriously! I thought I had a decent tolerance for spicy food, but I misjudged the sauce. Would I order it again? Probably with the sauce on the side. My bf had been smart, heeding the advice of the guy at the register. His Hearts on Fire roll was interesting because I swear I tasted corn flakes! On a sushi roll? It added a nice dimension to the roll. The food we ate was okay. Was I blown away? No. Would I give them another try? Yes.
