I was craving banh mi and milk tea. So I decided to come here, although the reviews aren’t so great. I was helped by a friendly young lady working at the counter. She was very informative. I ordered the special sandwich and a milk tea. She gave me the option to make it blended. Of course! Who doesn’t like blended drinks when it’s hot out?! :) The sandwich is good! I love pâté, so it’s a must have in my Vietnamese sandwiches.

Won’t go back. Used to be good. I ordered a BBQ pork sandwich and was surprised how little meat they put in it.

Rating is just for the avocado smoothie. They have different toppings: grass jelly, tapioca, lychee poppers and colored jelly. I got the grass jelly. First time getting it. It’s slightly bitter. The avocado wasn’t sweet at all. Not as creamy as other places. Can’t beat thang’s that’s for sure. They do have specials like 10% off combo with sandwich and drink. Not going here again. I say go next door to rainbow if you want a creamier avocado smoothie.

I love bubble tea. Fortunately and unfortunately I now have to include a side stop for bubble tea when picking up from Phở Five-0(same owners) or Siam Kitchen Express… I can’t help it! I usually get the blended Thai or milk tea. I tried the avocado drink and it was pretty good! The staff has always been nice and quick to get orders going… I’ve always seen teenagers working, which is why I think that some other reviews are a bit harsh– professionalism takes some time and experience to develop. Overall a consistent experience and quality of drink. Now I have to try a bahn mi sandwich there.

My Favorite Bánh mì place on Oahu Updated Post(6÷29÷2015) Char siu pork sandwich also very good. Updated Post(6÷15÷2015) As promised,… came back and tried the lemon grass chicken sandwich. Hi Sandwich officially earned its spot on «My Favorite Places on Oahu» List. These are really good sandwiches. Tip: don’t come here for drinks… you might like that bubble drink stuff and I’ll let you, but I didn’t and today’s lemonade was so-so. Original Post(6÷13÷2015) Stopped here for lunch today. Asked the girl behind the counter to help me pick.. she suggested I get their HI Special sandwich and a strawberry bubble drink. Loved the sandwich, but the bubble drink had a hard time getting to my stomach. Wound up slurping the strawberry part and leaving the pearl bubbles. Since I mainly stopped in here to try a sandwich, I’d have to say that i left confident that theirs was the best Vietnamese sandwich I’ve tried on Oahu. Will come back and try their lemongrass chicken before listing as the best, but have a feeling they’ve clinched it. French bread was real nice, the meats were tasty and the veggies were really flavorful. Everything had a very fresh feel and taste.

Came here for a phone order for the hi special sandwich and Thai tea it was a Friday night when it was really dead. Came in here no one welcome or said hi to me and then no one helped me until I said excuse me so they gave my food paid for it. Then I looked at the tip jar I felt bad that they didn’t get any tip. So I left a $ 5 tip for the girls. no thank you or bye as I was leaving the store. I find it really rude and if you want that service then this is the place for you. And then for the sandwich it didn’t taste like a original banh MI sandwich. They didn’t add one ingredient to the sandwich that made it taste good.

I came here for the first time and decided to order a taro bubble drink. Everywhere else I go to order the taro bubble drink, the«taro» taste is pretty consistent and I know what to expect. However, the taro bubble drink I ordered here was disgusting. It was watery and the actual drink didn’t taste anything like a Taro bubble drink you’d expect from all the other«tea» places. It was such a let down, since I LOVE taro bubble drinks. I even ordered the biggest size, expecting myself to devour it within 10 minutes. Unfortunately, I ended up wasting $ 5 and threw it away within three minutes. I couldn’t get myself to drink it – even after trying to convince myself to suck it up and not waste the $ 5 I just handed over. I ended up going right next door to the Sushi place and ordering a taro bubble drink for $ 2 less than what I just spent. It was so good! The other tea drinks may be good, but I don’t think I’ll take that risk! I’m giving two stars for the girl who took my order, she was friendly!

When did this place open? I love bahn mi. I love boba smoothie drinks! I don’t love this area but there’s so many places I’ve been missing apparently since I don’t venture in this area too much and if I do, it’s to the same places. I had a roast beef bahn mi and it was pretty good. It had real roast beef, not the luncheon meat type. The daikon and carrots weren’t too pickled. Other than that, it was a basic bahn mi. I didn’t get a chance to try their drinks but will next time. They have a combo special if you get a bahn mi and a drink, you can make it a combo and get 10% off.

i tried this place because as someone else had said«it’s NOT ba-le.» well, im glad i did. the service was very fast and friendly. i ordered the lemongrass chicken sandwich, with added pâté as well as the iced vietnamese coffee. the sandwich was ok. the taste of the coffee was perhaps a 7 outta ten, but you get a lot more coffee than most places give you, so thats awesome. searchwords: ca phe sua da, banh mi

After going for a nice walk to get my cardio on, i was longing for something iced, cold, and yummy. So on my walk home i decided to walk through Waimalu shopping center. Low and behold, i see a picture of a bubble drink posted on this shop so i decided to visit this place and see what it was like. I ordered the Chocolate bubble drink and O-M-G– it was AWESOME!!! This drink made my walk home even better and satisfying. If youre looking to get a nice cold frost smoothie iced drink, check this place out!!! Im WARNING you, its gonna get ADDICTING!

This is my first time here. I was craving for bubble drinks and this was in the area. First off the shop is pretty small, it’s more of a pick up and go out kind of place. You could sit in and enjoy your drink but spacing and sitting us very limited. Price range is not bad at all. About $ 5 or less a drink. You had a choice to have it as a smoothie, a bubble drink or just on ice. Their drinks are freshly made with fruits and the tapioca is pretty good. Service was quick but like any other place it there is a lot of order it may take a while. Their seems to be a lot of parking but because there are so many other shops around parking is also very limited. Overall a pretty good place.

Every now and then, when I am feeling extra fluffy from the weeks of non-stop Unilocal«research», I need to eat something healthy. And by healthy, I mean low calorie and that makes me think of sandwiches. The thought of a subway sandwich actually depresses me so I compromise with a bahn mi. Lucky for me and my coworkers, this place took over Leonard’s in Waimalu Shopping Center and now we have another«healthy» option besides Bale. Hi Sandwich and Drink is a cute little shop with a couple of tables and counter seating for three. I ordered the bbq chicken sandwich and a milk tea bubble drink(it’s made of milk and that’s healthy!). The bread is really delicious and was served nice and hot. It didn’t cut up the roof of my mouth either which is a plus. I prefer the bbq chicken from Bale, but the sandwich was good. I loved the milk tea bubble drink! You can get it blended or served over ice. The bubbles were especially yummy. The bubble drinks are $ 4.95, but are huge(24oz). Parking is not fun here, but that’s no surprise. Go check it out!

Waimalu Shopping Center is a place that seems to be never changing and some of these shops and restaurant have been here for decades! So, when a new place pops up you can’t help but be excited to try something new! Hi Sandwich showed up a few months back and I saw it when I was getting my shave ice fix at Baldwin’s. Already stuffed I bookmarked it and saved this place for later. A few visits to this place I can say that I am a fan! It is so nice to have a great Vietnamese sandwich place that is not Bale. Also a place to get tasty bubble drinks in Aiea.
The sandwiches are what bring me here and keep me coming back. I have tried the BBQ Pork sandwich, which was tasty and moist. Not the most amount of meat, but what you do get is yummy. I don’t think I have seen a BBQ pork sandwich at other places or I just have not tried one. The BBQ chicken sandwich was good, However, My Fav is the Lemongrass Chicken Sandwich!!! I just had it today and I am going to go back soon to get another one! My favorite part of this sandwich is that you get little splashes of ginger and lemongrass mixed with those pickled vinegar veggies. A Great complex flavor profile I think. But don’t forget to ask for Sriracha hot sauce if you are taking out. They don’t stick it in the bag and that is what makes these sandwiches! They should just put that it if I could give any criticism. It’s the SOUL of the sandwich!!! ****ALSO**** –The Milk tea is pretty good. You don’t just have to get bubbles, you can get grass jelly or colored jelly instead! –They have real fruit smoothies too. Don’t get the Grape Smoothie! I love grape, but this was horrible! I should have listened to the girl at the counter. She told me what was popular, but I just had to get grape. –There is a small space to eat near the window, but I don’t think this is a place you eat at really. –The workers are really nice, except one of the girls today seems grouchy, but everyone else I met was sweet. Aiea just got a little better since this place opened. :D

The owners of Phở Five-0 opened a bubble tea and banh mi shop. It’s clean, bright, and I think in the former location of Leonard’s Express. It seems like the son of the owner is operating it. How I know this you may asked? Well, when I got my order I asked for«cock sauce»(so shame but I forgot the name but remembered after–«sriracha dummy!!»). He couldn’t find it and said, «oh, you can ask my mom for some at Phở Five-0. Then he found it in the fridge in small containers. I ordered a chicken banh mi sandwich. The french bread was toasted perfectly– soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The chicken was exactly how it was supposed to taste. It actually seemed freshly cooked unlike some other places I have experienced. The veggies were good but I wanted more. I always get extra veggies but forgot to ask this time around. The sandwich menu is very easy to understand 1 choice-$ 6.00, 2 choice-$ 6.50 or 3 choice-$ 6.75. There are about 20 choices including vegetarian choices. There also are fresh fruit smoothies, bubble tea starting from $ 4.95 and assorted snacks and sodas. All in all, the sandwich hit the spot and I look forward to trying the bubble drinks next time too.
