We are visiting Hawaii with family. Came here to eat as a second choice since the Roast Duck Kitchen was closed. We should have went to a different place. We ordered off the family style menu and added the Peking Duck. The Peking Duck was average, and the rest of the food was nothing to brag about.

We had lunch today and picked the menu for 5 with the substitute for Peiking duck. The food was bad and expensive for amount of food. Don’t come in if you want to have good chinese food. But if you want quick one just to fill you up, it could be a place for you.

Attempted to eat here got there at 8:40 they closed at 9:00 .So they rush us to order because they are closing. So I go to use the restroom after we ordered one of the cooks is using the restroom and right after he’s done walks right out without washing his hands so immediately I tell my wife and kids let’s go never again that’s just nasty!

Good Chinese food here at Aiea Chop Suey! The lemon chicken and any noodle dish with cake noodles is my favorite. Portions are reasonable for the price you pay. This is my family’s choice when we take grandma out to eat. She will eat almost everything that is soft. The honey walnut shrimp is another favorite. After our meal we will go next door to grab some Samurai ice cream and eat it in the restaurant. What a way to top off an awesome meal at Aiea Chop Suey. There is a lot of parking since restaurant is located in a shopping center.

Outstanding. This is a very nice hole in the wall kind of place. Nothing fancy, just very good food at a very good price.

This place is pretty good. I like it better than Waimalu Chop Suey. Have been here four times now and each dish is tasty… and I like that they leave crunch in their veggies. Why not 5 stars? Ummm. … who’s ever heard of a 5 star chop suey restaurant? :-)

Aiea Chop Suey is the Chinese restaurant to go to in Aiea. This is where we go to when we’re ono for Chinese food. One of our favorite things to order is the Kau yuk with steamed buns, but have you ever tried the fried duck with steamed buns? It’s the bomb! My favorite dish is so simple, but they make it so good it’s their Egg Foo Yung.

Love eating at Aiea Chop Suey if I am on this side and craving Chinese. Because my mom worked in Aiea for a long time we found out about this gem and have been eating here for many years. She would always bring home minute chicken cake noodle. YUMMMM! The staff is always friendly and prompt. Some of my favorites are the minute chicken cake noodle, chinese chicken salad and scallop soup. Definitely worth checking out. Tip: Order the minute chicken cake noodle. I mentioned it twice already.

My family doesn’t go to Aiea Chop Suey(ACS) all that often, but if we’re going to dinner with some of our other close relatives(and have a party of like 10 people), we’ll go to this restaurant that has withstood the test of time. Seriously, I remember going to ACS when I was a kid, and the Aiea eatery is still standing to this day. By now, my family has established some typical dishes we always get from this restaurant. We usually visit it around Chinese New Year every year, and if someone’s seriously craving Chinese food … this is where we go. ACS serves up the dishes«family style,» and by the time our party of 10 is done ordering, there’s tons of food on the revolving center of the table for everyone to partake in. I definitely have my favorites, and here’s what I would recommend: «Crispy Gau Gee»: This eight-piece appetizer is always a favorite. I usually have at least one(if not two). When I was little, I didn’t like the inside of the gau gee and would only eat the crispy, fried exterior. Fortunately, my palate has evolved and I now enjoy the gau gee pieces in their entirety. «Chicken with Mixed Vegetable Soup»: My family usually orders this soup and everyone gets a little in their bowl. I really do like this chicken soup(I try to just get the broth and chicken with no veggies) and it’s especially good if you’re feeling under the weather. The broth is clear but flavorful and the chicken is moist and fresh. «Stuffed Duck with Barley»: I don’t eat duck really often, but I always enjoy this dish from ACS. I especially like it because it comes stuffed with barley(one of my favorite grains) and is served in a sauce with a thick consistency. This dish is super flavorful — I love the tender chunks of duck with mounds of barley on the side. «Crispy Gau Gee Mein with Chicken»: This is probably my favorite noodle dish from this eatery. I prefer the crispy cake noodles over the soft noodles, and chicken is my favorite meat(I prefer it to beef, anyway). I can eat squares upon squares of these crispy noodles, and our family usually has to put in more than one order. But I also like the flavorful sauce and the tender pieces of chicken on top. «Honey Walnut Shrimp»: I absolutely love honey walnut shrimp, and this is a dish I always look forward to. The shrimp pieces are always flavorful and crunchy, and they taste and texture is just accentuated by the walnut chunks. «Mix Your Own Plate Lunch»(10:30−2 p.m.): I’ve never been to ACS for lunch so I’ve never gotten to take part in this deal, but the plate lunch option sounds pretty delicious. You get your choice of 2 – 3 items and your plate comes with steam rice AND fried noodles. «Boneless Minute Chicken(BBQ)»: This is one of the chicken dishes I haven’t tried yet from this eatery, and while there’s no description of it online, it sounds appetizing to me because it contains BBQ flavor and there’s no bone. To this day, I still prefer boneless chicken over bone-in chicken, so I’ll definitely have to try this one day. «Golden Fried Boneless Lemon Chicken»: This chicken is described as «Aiea Chop Suey’s own,» so I’ll have to try this house specialty at some point. I do love fried chicken(prefer it over grilled, even though it’s not as healthy) and I’m really interested to experience the flavors of this dish. «Char Siu and Shrimp Fried Rice»: Fried rice is one of my favorite starches(definitely prefer fried rice over regular rice), and because I really like the ACS shrimp, I want to order this dish someday. I don’t usually like many mix-ins when it comes to fried rice, but since this version includes both char siu and shrimp(despite the possibility of it having other veggies as well), I’m down to try it one day.

We came here on a Sunday night as I was in the mood for a dinner plate that all of the chop suey places seem to have. Unfortunately, I was disappointing. It was pretty close to closing, so maybe that was the issue. But the noodles were cold, and the sauce the put on top was thick and still cold(like someone turned off the heat an hour ago and it had just been sitting). The fried rice was alright, the kau yuk was good, but the portions were tiny. And the sweet and sour spare ribs were meh and again, very small portions. It was my first, and likely only visit to this place.

It had been almost 30 years since I last ate here, so nostalgia played a big part of my expectations. Actually I wasn’t expecting much but I ordered what I always ordered… beef broccoli tun fun w/oyster sauce which is beef broccoli served over soft wun tun and chow funn noodles. It was exactly the same. I was so happy! Enjoyed every single bite of it. And sooo many wun tun too. Bravo ACS!

For starters, I grew up in this area, and like any other local family, we had our decent, everyday go-to Chinese restaurant. Aiea Chop Suey was our place to go, even though there were more choices available, including Waimalu Chop Suey and all the other small Chinese places. In other words, I know THIS place well, and other places, not at all. We did Aiea and no where else. That being said, we ate here pretty regularly because my sister loved Chinese food and this place never made my parents«bloat,» the common complaint about Chinese restaurants.(You know what I’m talking about) Our order was the same every time BECAUSE, as my dad explained every time we ate it, Aiea Chop Suey’s is the best. Now that I am older and more, ah-hum, experienced in the world of Chinese food, I can honestly say regarding some dishes, my dad was right. First of all, after all these years, and I believe a change in owners, the food is same. Amazing. The first dish that, to me is as good as it gets, is the Chinese Chicken Salad. I think the dressing is the hands down best tasting and I love the simplicity of the salad. Some places have all kinds of things throw in the salad and it just tastes like a junkyard in my mouth. I love the simple ingredients including chicken that does NOT have bones in it. What is up with that at other restaurants? Any who, no bones here. Another dish that is the same since childhood is the Abalone Soup. Granted, my father did complain years ago about the declining presence of abalone, but by now, I’m sure the population has balanced out. Here, again, simplicity trumps distraction. The abalone is the star and everyone else are the support actors NOT the co-stars. This goes the same for their Scallop Soup. Leave out the distractions like, what kind of craziness have I seen… peas, carrots, etc. smh. I just want a simple soup. Okay, the last dish I have to rave about, the whole reason why I will, as an adult, will go out of my way for is the Shredded Duck with bun. I am NOT A DUCKLOVER. But I love this dish. It has a hint of duck, fried and served with plum sauce and bun. Bun. Yum. I love it, lots. This with the house noodles, choi sum with ham har and I am set. Every once in a while, I will also go out of my way for their Wor Won Ton Mein(translation: won ton in soup with noodles and veggies). Nostalgia. Plus its pretty darn good.
