Opus Salon is excellent! I visited after hearing great things from a close friend. The location is great, interior is beautiful, and the team is fun and friendly. Krystal is my stylist and she is extraordinary. Very kind, sharp, fun to chat with, and she is a highly skilled stylist. The prices at Opus are also very reasonable… I have long blonde hair and it is tough to find a stylist who is reasonably priced and who does an exceptional job! If you are looking for a talented stylist in the Dallas area– Visit Opus Salon and ask to see Krystal!

I hurt my arm yesterday, so I dreaded the idea of shampooing and styling my hair this morning. Found Opus on Unilocal, and got an appt. over lunch with Heather for a shampoo and blow-dry. Beautiful results and I’m very happy! Very nice open and relaxed atmosphere, and easy to find on Quorum just north of Addison Circle.

I won’t be back. I thought I’d try something new for $ 50& I got the haircut equivalent of Mom Jeans. I went to Joy based on the reviews, I really needed a new change, and I thought it would be a good experience. When she knew I was a little nervous(she cut off way more than we had originally discussed) she turned to weird flattery that made no sense(sort of obvious– the kind that makes you feel VERY uncomfortable) I showed up really disshevlled that day– my mistake(it was a rough week at work with some major deadlines) and I think she took that as I didn’t care about my hair. She was explaining to me what thinning/razoring the ends was and asked me if I knew what a flat iron was? Umm. yes I do— in fact I may look like hell today, but I used to look pretty good for myself. uh? I had to ask her to go back in and give my hair some shape– I’m sure Joy is wonderful for some folks– she was very distracted with me –refilling her coke 3x’s and chatting with other stylists in the back. It caused a major error on her part that will take me a year to grow out. When I said– uh, this isn’t what we said we were doing, she said it was still considered long and my hair is pretty. She made some major mistakes and knew it– but didn’t apologize, just started trying to flatter me. I know she was nervous b/c I told her I found her on Unilocal. I’m sure there are other amazing stylists at opus, which is why I gave it 2 stars– comfortable atmosphere. Good luck for those who choose here– if you’re like me, sensitive about your appearance, and maybe needing precision– try another stylist. I had an awful experience.

As a guy with thick and long hair, it has been tough trying to find a stylist in the area who«knows» my hair. A month or so ago, I got my hair cut from Gina, and she was brilliant! I basically told her to trim it however she saw fit, and she did a fantastic job. Her attention to detail is flawless and unparalleled as far as my experience with hair stylists goes. She is also a very pleasant person and very fun to talk to. Nearly a month later, my hair has grown out, but it isn’t nearly as bulky as it would normally be if I had gone with another stylist. Her pricing is fair and definitely worth every penny. I hands down recommend Gina over any stylist! The salon itself is a nice environment, and appealing to men as well.

Wanted: Hair color and a trim After reading Unilocal reviews I decided to pick Joy as my stylist. I explained to her that I am a very picky person and its my first time having my hair colored professionally. I find that a good stylist is the ones that do well during your consultation with them. Joy did very well on listening to what I wanted to have done with my hair. I was nervous about the hair color, but after 40 minutes of flipping through magazine and almost falling asleep the color that I requested was meet. I wanted choppy bangs and she did a GREAT job at it. I felt so pretty. Isn’t that the point of getting a haircut?

I absolutely love Joy. She does my cut and color and I have always been very happy. The salon is never crowded, which I like. If you get there early, go next door and have a glass of wine while you wait.

I’ve had some seriously bad luck with hair stylists over the years, but Krystal is *amazing*. She gets it right… every time, and I’d happily pay her twice what she charges.

Opus Salon, Man Friendly? Yes my fellow owners of Y Chromosomes. There is a stylist for us. Her name is Gina McCartney and she’ll be happy to serve you. I’ve never been faithful to a stylist before. My previous haircuts consisted of a bi-weekly visit to one of those chain haircut places where I would tell whichever«haircutter» was available that I wanted a trim on top and a numeric suggestion for the sides and back. That was until I was referred to Gina and 2 years later I am still blown away by her quality of service and attention to detail. Before Gina, the thought of walking into an upscale looking salon was enough for me to break out in sweats and feel like I did the first time I asked a girl to dance in junior high. I didn’t know how to ask for what I wanted or if we needed to be an arms length apart(the girl; not the stylist). Luckily Gina has a lot of experience with cutting men’s hair. She’s also very approachable and will make suggestions when needed. I never received compliments on my hair and now I do all of the time. Plus with the same money that I was spending on two haircuts a month, I’ve been able to spend it once a month and have a cut that I can actually do something with until my next appointment. She’s very affordable and gives an expensive quality style to your hair. Gina doesn’t just specialize in men’s styles but she makes it real easy for us. So to those of you that prefer the toilet seat up or down, I would recommend Gina McCartney at Salon Opus.

I’ve been going to Joy at Opus for about 2 years. This place is worth the drive up to Addison for me, even at rush hour. It’s a cute salon with a southwestern feel. It’s very relaxing compared to any other salon I’ve been to. Everyone in there seems to be a regular so you don’t have 50 people hovering in the waiting area or just popping in for a cut like some of the mall places. If you like good post punk 80s music you’ll love it here. It’s not techno crap they play at most salons. It’s a REAL salon, very hip without the hype. The stylists are in their 30s so there’s no wanna be punk kids, just adults doing your hair and capable of a real conversation. The rates are very competitive and you don’t have to worry about your stylist getting promoted then raising their prices between visits.

This is a great salon that is rarely crowded and is always laid back. Hope, my stylist, is amazing and can usually work you into her schedule if you give her a few days notice. She isn’t afraid to take risks or give suggestions. It helps that she is super friendly and professional! I have had a few other people handle my hair there and everyone was capable and helpful. Price wise, I find that it is on par with local salons — though it can be cheaper or more expensive depending on who your stylist is that day. The salon is located in a great neighborhood as well, so feel free to explore!

Go to Joy Browder at Opus! She is awesome. She does flawless color and great cuts. She is lots of fun and I just love her. The salon itself is very nice, usually quiet and not crazy loud. There is a little bar and some great restaurants next door and across the street too. It’s in the Addison Circle community which is very cool. I always find great parking too.
