Food is ok… not anything I can’t make at home… customer service is kinda dry… so so is my review … Although the burger is good won’t take that from them :)

best fast food on the planet. Turkey sandwiches made with ROAST turkey, not deli meat. Onion rings nom nom. burgers are good, cakes are locally home made. Delicious soup & chili.

This place is a hidden gem. Perfect hangover food too. We ordered the pulled port sandwich, cheesesteak hoagie, and the onion rings. The pulled pork was delish and writing this review makes me want to go get one now. My boyfriend ordered the cheesesteak hoagie and said if was really good. The onion rings(which were reccommended on here) were probably some of the best I have ever had. They are lightly breaded and crispy. Definitly try this place if you’re on the go because it’s take out only or they have picnic benches outside.

Everything here is good. One of very few places that allow our dog to sit with us on the patio. Love this place!

Was keeping an eye for place to eat lunch as I was heading down the road, as I was going paddle boarding in the morning and spotted B & J Carry Out. After a good session on the water, I was ready for lunch. So, on the way home I stopped in and was not disappointed. The build looks like it has been forever and a day, which was cool. The folks working were knocking out the orders. Went with BBQ pork sandwich(no coleslaw), fries, and unsweetened tea(my favorite). The sandwich had the perfect amount of sauce. This gave it a good flavor and held together while you ate it. Very happy I stopped.

Stopped on the way back from picking up some furniture. The counter staff was friendly and outgoing. I was trying to decide between the Dixie and Yankee BBQ sandwich and the girl suggested sampling both. The sample was several bites of each, pork and beef. Both very good. I went with the pork as I thought it had a touch more smoke flavor and an was very tasty. Also split an order of onion rings, which they were good as well. No sitting inside but enough outside at picnic tables if it’s not hot and humid. I will certainly stop by when in the area.

Been there for years. Lil pricey, but long time Accokeek establishment. Typical CarryOut food. Good Ice cream.

We drive here from Dumfries, Va(38 miles one way) at least once a month. The Barbecue is delicious but a little pricey for the sandwich size. We ordered the steak sandwich three times, it smelt delicious but two out of the three times it was more fat then steak. Usually the staff are very nice but today the young lady wasn’t very happy or friendly. She looked like she hated her job. That won’t stop us from coming to BJs for barbecue because we’ll just chalk it up to she was having a bad day or didn’t feel well.

For a food stand, this place is amazing and has been very good to me! Let me also say, that this review will contain a second visit to B&J.The very first time we went, I was overwhelmed by the menu. While trying to figure out what I wanted, a gentleman from the back came out and gave me a delicious ice cream sundae for free! I am not a big fruit fan, but this thing was filled to the brim with fruit and whipped cream. The soft serve chocolate-vanilla ice cream was equally as delicious. My Guy, his son and I enjoyed that free sundae while we waited for our food. Now on to the food, we all ordered the Royal cheese burger and fries. The Guy and I ordered chili on ours as well as the toppings that came with it. These burgers were on point! Hot and delicious right off the grill. I’m not too sure what other Unilocalers are talking about, but I devoured that burger. The fries weren’t too bad either. On our second visit, I wanted to try the hot dog and the Philly Cheese Steak. The hot dog was very good, but small. The Guy and I shared it and we put chili and cheese on it. We also ordered onion rings. Let me say this, another customer raved about the onion rings. However, they didn’t do anything for me! They definitely needed salt. Now, my Philly Cheese Steak sandwich did it for me! It was so good! I will definitely get that again. I love this little spot. The young ladies behind the counter are always so nice and so friendly. Its a food stand… what more can you ask for but good food and good service. I’m a happy camper.

I found nothing special about B&J’s. I was very disappointed, as I was expecting that a place with a big sign proclaiming BBQ would have BBQ. Tbey had only two BBQ items. Two versions of BBQ sandwiches. Nothing else. The prices seemed a little high, and the food quality was pretty low. I had the fish and chips platter. It was $ 15 for two fried filets, fries, coleslaw and a roll. The fish was quite fishy for whiting, which led me to believe it was not very fresh. The fries were not very crispy, the roll very bland and the coleslaw was shredded cabbage mixed with mayo, very bland. I had been excited to try what appeared to be a BBQ joint and found a below average take out with the usual menu items.

I can’t speak for their food. It was an early morning and I’d heard they make great breakfast sandwiches and a host of other items. After my morning workout and run, I was in the area and said why not. Being a bit famished, I thought I would try some eggs and grits. First, I do not like cramped spaces where people are breathing down your neck. And I didn’t realize this place was a matchbox. The venue only had 4 or five people inside and it had already reached its capacity and fire code limit. That initially turned me off; I do not like people standing too close to me. The large menu board was a bit confusing to understand so I grabbed a paper menu off the counter. They do have a variety of items and offerings, but at that point I discovered that I didn’t want anything. I paid for a bottle of water and left. This place does seem popular with the locals though. And the staff seemed friendly as well. I may revisit again one day.

I was pretty excited to check out B&J Carryout, as I’ve heard about their delicious steak and cheeses. The place is off of Livingston Rd, and it seems to be a popular local spot. The menu offers a whole array of items, such as Early Bird Specials(they open up at 5AM on weekdays), sandwiches(roast beef, grilled ham & cheese, egg salad, soft shell, crab cake, etc.), burgers, BBQ sandwiches, subs, and breakfast/dinner combos. They also have a little ice cream window around the side, where you just walk up and order a cold treat. I tried their Steak and Provolone Cheese, with just the grilled onions and mayo — this was just okay, but I did notice that the steak was fresh and extremely generous; I just thought the meat was too bland and not seasoned enough; the BBQ sandwich(you had 2 choices: the ‘Dixie Style’ which is minced pork and more vinegar-based, or the ‘Yankee Style’ which is minced beef and more of a sweeter bbq taste — I opted for the latter; it came in a seeded bun with a generous amount of coleslaw; I wasn’t really much of a fan, as it just wasn’t tasty). I also tried their onion rings(comes in 1 size) — definitely right off the fryer, they were crispy, but definitely on the greasy end. We walked over to the side for some dessert, and I had the Orange Dream and the Banana shake(uses soft serve) — I was a fan! The Orange Dream had a nice orange/citrus taste to it, and the Banana definitely had a fresh banana taste to it — both were thick, not too sweet, and very creamy: D Service was very friendly, and there are some benches where you can enjoy your food, but most take it to go or eat in their car. +Orange Dream milkshake +Banana milkshake

This is the best BBQ within an hour drive from my house. I live near Old Town, Alexandria. In Va they reminisce about the old days of a restaurant called Dixie Pig. So instead they go to some corporate franchise«Famous Daves» or whatever. VA wishes they had an old time BBQ place like B&J! I love this place. I have been getting their NCBBQ for about 7 years now. It’s basically pork, without a lot of BBQ sauce. Maybe in a slight vinegar marinade? I don’t know. Today I got the beef with BBQ sauce… was ridiculously good. They both are. I think I’m going to have to order both now since I can’t choose between the two. I’m a bachelor, in my 40’s and don’t cook much. I’ve eaten A LOT of BBQ sandwiches. I seriously can say this is one of the best around. For the few people who are complaining. I’m just laughing, in Northern VA this place would be famous!

Early season vanilla milkshake… yes I know its early but this place in addition to serving breakfast all day is known for their ice cream. So the nice lady whipped it up. Now I am happy. I recommend if you are in Accokeek MD or the 210 corridor, try this carryout. Its a throw back to old times. BTW they do have a healthy menu if you must

Great place to get food and sit in your car to eat. In good weather there are picnic tables. Almost every time I’m in Maryland I stop here for the hot half smoke sub. Great onion rings. Lots of choices and all good.

I’m officially done with this place. The customer service sucks. They’ve hired a bunch of young girls who lack home training and have no concept of customer service. I’m sure they’re only paying them minimum wage so I guess you get what you pay for. After screwing up my order twice one of them had the nerve to say«your welcome» as to imply I’m supposed to tell her thank you after she screwed up my order. Worst milkshake known to mankind

The Dixie Style Pork sandwich is great! The crab cake is great as well. The French fries was over cooked and the lemonade was watered down. The parking lot is small. The staff is friendly. I shall return.

I went here by chance as I was running out of gas and smelled this as I was pumping. Definitely out of the way unless you live in the area. The menu was expansive – a little too expansive if you ask me. There were too many choices and I couldn’t decide so I just went with cheesesteak. I wasn’t wowed by the prices(an $ 88in. sub=$ 1/inch!) but when I sunk my teeth in I was a happy camper. Still not an $ 8 happy camper but it was good. Free fixings help, I hate when restaurants charge for simple lettuce and tomato add-ons. It’s very small in here but the wait wasn’t long. Don’t expect to eat in, there is NO seating inside, outside only, hence the«carryout» in the title Would I stop again? Probably but I make no promises.
