This is usually a stop on our many trips to the Lodi wineries. We especially like the Portuguese wines they produce. The Verdlho is always a pleasure to taste and buy. On our trip this weekend we were very disappointed with the service. The lady who took care of our group couldn’t even tell us the wines in their blend — «some french name I can’t pronounce anyway.» Our family is pretty wine savvy, with years of experience visiting throughout the state. What makes for a good experience is the person pouring the wines; their explanation of when the wines were harvested, the wine making process, expected tastes, food pairings, etc. If all you want is someone to pour the wines, you can go to a bar for that. That said, the wines were great. But, the staff needs to step it up! Four stars for the wine, two stars for the lady behind the bar.

Our wine trip to Lodi was one Zin after anothter until we found this place. Love the Portuguese variatles here. They also pair their different wines with cheese and sweet bread from Portugal. Had a great time talking with the owner Vern and his wife. Unique tasting experience!

I had a great visit to this winery with my family, their wines are amazing. I loved there wines so much my family and I bought many bottles. Now that my supply is empty I became a wine club member. I’m very pleased and happy with my choice in going with St. Jorge Winery. Thank you!

This place was beautiful on the outside but the inside was all over the place. Old style jukebox on one wall, painting of a naked woman on another, and curio’s with a hodgepodge of items in them. The wine was so-so. Not great but not bad. The real buzz kill was the woman(who I assume was the wife of the owner) kept talking about her boat and all of the pompous things they have and are going to do with it. It sounded like an episode of an old«Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous».

Excellent customer service! Understood the needs of their customers and were able to allow a large party in 30 minutes before to buy wine! Very kind staff and their wine and atmosphere is something to be experienced. Don’t let this winery slip by when planning for your next wine tasting trip. They made our trip end on a great wine note! Thanks!

Had a great time tasting there. The lady who poured I believe was the wine makers wife. She was very knowledgable and helpful and friendly. I loved the small food pairings with the various wines. They even poured for us several things not on the tasting menu, including an incredible dessert wine/port that paired beautifully with the cheese they provided. The focus here is on Portuguese varietals that grow well in the Lodi region, and they do a great job with them. Can’t wait to go back.

Cute winery on the outside and the inside was very intricate. The wine itself was good I especially liked the Verdlho. I liked the food pairing they did with the wine. The staff was quiet and not the friendliest so that’s why I gave this a 3 star.

I just love this winery! They make their wine in the Portuguese style and everything we tried was delicious. My favorite was the Syrah but you can’t go wrong with anything, red or white. They do lovely pairings of cheeses and Portuguese sweetbread to complement the wines. We were served by Brooke, the owners niece both times we visited. She was pleasant and informative. The five dollar tasting fee is applied to purchase

St. Jorge was our 3rd stop of the day and while I was very impressed with the fact that they pair their wines with small bites of food, I still was not inclined to purchase anything. I believe they produce more of a Portugal style of wine, which really isn’t what I am into. But I do love trying new things, so I am glad we stopped here while in Lodi. The property itself is beautiful and the tasting room is adorned with paintings done by the owners daughter. I would recommend St. Jorge to anybody coming to Lodi as their wines are different from anything else you will taste all day.

Note: There are some terrible reviews of event/weddings at this venue, this review is based only on the tasting experience. We’ve been to St. Jorge three times and each time the experience has been exceptional. The wine makers(husband and wife pair) take great care to educate visitors about the wine they make. Each taste is accompanied by either cheese, bread or chocolate(small potions) but you are there to taste not eat! The delicious Portuguese bread is also available for purchase if you’d like a little nosh. We loved the whites and the Tempernillo. On our last visit we were treated to a barrel tasting and tour, since we made a reservation to show a senior colleague and his family around. The folks at St. Jorge made our trip and our guests were impressed. If you are heading in with guests let them know in advance and you’ll see some small town hospitality with old world charm.

Visited this winery today. I loved every wine they were pouring today. They do whole berry fermentation instead of crushing. The difference in flavor was phenomenal. Loved the Tempranillo and the Old Vine Zin.

This is a «Must See» winery in Lodi. They are relatively new on the scene and are still developing their products, but I heartily recommend their Tempranillo(this is the one they serve with Portuguese Sweet Bread(not to be confused with actual sweetbreads, which isn’t sweet and isn’t bread), and their Souzao. Coming soon, a Lodi Cab(yep, a CAB!) from vines off the banks of the Mokelumne river. This feature is ideal for growing Cabernet grapes. Cabs like those cooler nights. Look to see some great wines coming out of St. Jorge Winery. Wow your out of town guests with a visit to this winery. You won’t be sorry.

St. Jorge Winery is my absolute favorite Lodi winery. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the wine is delicious. I highly recommend tasting and/or having an event on the grounds because of the beautiful surroundings, amazing service and luxurious feel that you get while here. Love this place :)

The red dessert wine was fantastic! Their Portuguese sweet bread to die for! The tasting room staff took such great care of us… by far the best stop on our trip!

Nice winery with good wine. However, was supposed to have my rehearsal dinner here in two months and they have cancelled because they are no longer allowed to have events! I feel awful for the brides that were to have their weddings here.

I loved the Verdelho white here, especially with the Topo cheese they sell. It’s a great pairing!

Absolutely stunning venue for any event. From the fountains to the bathrooms, St Jorge went all out in building and décor. Friendly service, funny, the owner of Macchia told us that St. Jorge was a must. They were classy enough not to takle us for $ 5 when we walked in the door. In fact, they never mentioned it. These wines were delicious as were the cheese and breads we were offered for pairing, nice touch. You must make this a stop if you are traveling through Lodi. Even with the elegance, the feel was warm and inviting.

St Jorge was a pleasant surprise from the Lodi region. The venue is obviously a newer construction but the grounds and décor are absolutely beautiful and would be a great venue for a wedding or party. We were the only couple there yesterday for tasting and the owner’s made us feel like old family friends. The wines they are tasting are unique and not something you’re going to find anywhere else outside of Europe. Typically we are big bold red drinkers but we absolutely loved everything they were sampling. The fee was 5 bucks and it’s refunded with wine purchase. You will want to pick up a bottle because if you don’t more then likely you’ll end up regretting it. If you like the big box store wine tasting’s and vineyards then this place ISNOTFORYOU! If you instead like to sample wines with the winemaker/owner and actually talk about grapes and flavors and what makes the product unique then this is a must on your next trip. They also do some great pairing’s to really bring out the complex flavors of their wines. Keep up the good work guys and we can’t wait to see you on our next trip!

Really loved the Italian villa feel of St. Jorge. Our favorite that we tasted was the Verdelho, a delicious white wine, and our wine of choice is usually red. Stopped here during the First Sip event the weekend of November 13 – 14. Lodi wineries are definitely a hidden secret:)

It only seems appropriate that the first review I write on Unilocal would also be the first for the company I am reviewing. In fact when I was discussing ways for them to bring in more business and I mentioned Unilocal, they looked at me quizzically. So tell them how you found them. You drive up to this place and as you look at the property from the road you kind of tilt your head a bit. To be honest, it doesn’t look like much. But as you pull into the basic parking lot and get out of your car, you hear the music playing, and you think«okay, we may have something here». You walk through a decorative gate into a courtyard that seems straight out of Italy, complete with a beautiful fountain and Andrea Bocelli serenading you. And you instantly feel miles away from the country road that is just outside the walls. Go inside and you find a quaint tasting room. Small, artfully decorated, feeling as though you were inside someone’s home, not just a business. And rounding out that feeling, you will find that behind the counter are the owners themselves, pouring their wine. A nice touch you don’t always find, even among the small family wineries in the Lodi region. And alas, if you feel like a snack, you will find something else rare for this area… food pairings! Sure there is a $ 5 tasting fee, but it is oh so worth it. You get the fee applied to the wine you purchase, and you will be buying wine. Quick rundown: Their Alicante was my least favorite of the wines I tasted. But make no mistake, I would still not hesitate to drink it if it was offered at a party. Their Verdelho and Zinfandel are both very solid. And they have a white dessert wine whose name for the life of me I can not remember. Sweet but light, not overly syrupy. But the shining star is their Tempranillo. This grape is popular in the Lodi region, and having been to probably twenty of the area’s wineries, St. Jorge’s Tempranillo is easily my favorite. Relaxing surroundings, unpretentious people and well-priced tasty wine to boot. That’s a pretty good combination. And maybe, just maybe, if you ask nicely they will take you downstairs and let you sample some future delights straight out of the barrel.
