Solid buffet, dark mysterious atmosphere, attentive staff, food is replenished in a timely manner that indicates a well choreographed kitchen. Seats in the booths are so tired and sad, but I guess large buttocks getting heavier by the minute for years and years will do that to a cushion. Mine being one of them. I like their rewards card, and the friendliness of the madame at the register.

We are on our way back to New Mexico and decided to give this place a try. A very nice place, had a helpful and attentive waitress who kept our glasses full and table clean, and great food most importantly. You can not beat an awesome deal for a buffet especially when it’s so inexpensive. Will definitely stop here whenever we come through!

My favorite place in abilene! They are always very polite and attentive. The buffet always has fresh food. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants good Chinese food for a great price.

The sesame chicken here is the best! I have travelled the country, and I have not had better. If you get it while fresh from the buffet it is crunchy with the flavor that is not too sweet. The buffet might look small compared to other buffet places, but I think it’s the most delicious. Place is always clean with friendly staff.

The close to ACU. I have so many memories of eating and studying here. The ladies are always sweet and the food is great. My favorite is the hot and sour soup and fried rice. I especially love their chicken dishes. Although it’s a Chinese buffet restaurant, you can order off the menu. I order from here whenever I need my Chinese food kick. The restaurant has been here forever. It’s almost like a local tourist attraction. Just ask any ACU grad. and they can tell you about Harvest Moon. I will definitely be back.

One of many Chinese buffets in Abilene. It just depends what part of town you are in. The food is good and price is OK. I’ll be back.

In short: If you like spicy you should give this place a try. On the other hand, if you do not, skip it. Still think China Star and Buffet City is your only chinese buffet options? think again. This place has a small bar(see my photo) but since the containers are smaller than average there are more options than you would think. A few of the items seemed a little more Americanized than usual and reminiscent of what you might find on a chinese bar in a supermarket. That said the quality was good and most dishes refilled fairly quick. As a spicy food lover it was nice to taste a jalapeño chicken that actually had a kick to it! Also other dishes that were meant to be spicy… were. Flat noodles are not usually my preferred choice but the ones here were better than expected. Both noodles and fried rice probably better than China Star or Buffet City. Service was very friendly and drinks didn’t go empty even once. A+ for our server. Chances of going back? hmm not sure, we live the opposite side of town. If this was the closest Chinese buffet to us i’d probably go back, and probably split my time equally between this and China Star.(please note that Buffet City is much closer than both, but I don’t care to go back there). Think of it this way… are you wanting Chinese buffet? tired of the other two bigger places? then go ahead give this place a whirl! *Edit* Buffet City closed, so now this is the only ‘other’ buffet for Chinese.

I hadn’t eaten at Harvest Moon in several years up until the other day. In fact my family and I usually go to those super large buffets and always end up disappointed. I really enjoyed this place though. The food tasted like they actually cooked it and everything didn’t taste the same. I really liked their sweet and sour pork, Moo goo gui pan, Beef and Broccolli and the lo mein. Now don’t get me wrong– Harvest Moon is not the best Chinese food I ever ever had in my life(lived near China Town in LA which is hard to beat:) ibut I do believe it is the best buffet option in Abilene and definitely worth going there. The only con was that while we were there they were very busy and would take a while to refill some stuff but even that didn’t take very long. Also– buffet is kind of small, but I think that is probably why it tastes better than most. I’ll definitely eat there again.

Typical Chinese buffet. The food always seems fresh but the service is ALWAYS excellent. The ladies there are sweet, attentive, and call me by name!
