This is a restaurant in search of a purpose. Why, I wonder, would anyone operate a restaurant three blocks from the popular Village Grill and offer the exact same menu items, but not bother to prepare the food anywhere near as well as the Village Grill does? The salad I ordered – consisting of a pile of spinach with a garnish of out-of-season tomatoes – was completely uninspired. The salmon entrée was mediocre; not sickeningly bad, but lacking any distinguishing characteristics in either the meat or the(meager) sides. By rating Windows on Main three stars, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt– I only ate there once, and they may have additional menu offerings that would merit a better reception. However, given their high prices and long wait times, I don’t plan on ever giving them a second try.
