The American Steakhouse

The food at American certainly is American with the steaks, burgers and fries full flavor, but the service is mañana slow and lackadaisical even when the place isn’t crowded during the off season. But, being an American, it’s probably my typical American impatience more than it is their lack speedy enthusiasm.
Besides having good aged corn fed meat steaks and burgers they also have Philly cheese steaks and Buffalo wings. The Philly cheese steaks are made from traditional thin cuts of ribeye which would match up pretty good in Philadelphia, even by the standards of Pat’s or Gino’s, but I don’t think their Buffalo wings would exactly cut it with the crowd at Anchors on Main Street in Buffalo, New York.
As the American is in the middle of the Sitges seafront if offers gorgeous views waterfront but the back patio area facing the street front is generally more relaxing.
Overall the American, which is rather large in size, offers a nice break from the tapas with, for an American, a refreshing taste and flavor of being back home.

Pleasant restaurant in a great location on the main road along Sitges seafront. As the name suggests, the emphasis in American with steaks and burgers being the mainstay of the menu.
I had some hand breaded onion rings to start, followed by a spicy guacamole burger. It was all excellent. I’ve never tasted onion rings as nice, and the burger had a great quantity of jalapeños and guacamole. Reasonably priced, good food and great service. For steak lovers they even have Filet Mignon.
There are a few dessert offerings, some of which are home made. I had the carrot cake which had been taken from the chiller. I think it would have tasted better and a little more moist had it been served at room temperature.

Toca probar un sitio nuevo y este lo habíamos visto ya en varias ocasiones y en esta nos hemos decidido a entrar, el menú de hamburguesa nos llamaba la atención, 15 € un buffet de ensaladas que aunque pueda parecer pequeño es mas que suficiente, una hamburguesa completa con una pinta impresionante o Petite filet mignon y un helado de postre.
El menú no decepciona para nada, todo lo del buffet de ensaladas esta muy bueno y me refiero a las elaboraciones de la día salsas la de mostaza y la de queso y la ensalada de patata!
La hamburguesa de escándalo! Muy buena la carne y en un punto perfecto servida. El filet mignon muy bueno, tierno y jugoso. El único pero se lo pondría al helado en cuanto a la presentación ya que la he encontrado demasiado sosa por llamarlo de alguna manera aunque la verdad es que estaba muy bueno así que se le puede perdonar.
Un 10 como menú! Sencillo, rico y a un precio estupendo ya que la bebida, en mi caso una Coca-​Cola era de las grandes en botella y estaba incluida.
Desde luego un sitio para volver y recomendar.

Since moving to Barcelona Spain, the American is by far the worst dining experience for us as a family and we eat out everyday. The food is greasy and has too much salt plus the service was awful. Our waitress was busy laughing it up with another table and completely ignored us therefore our food was late by 45 minutes. I don’t usually bother writing reviews but I felt compelled to let people know that this place is lousy all around.

We chose to eat here because of the previous review. The American boasts a menu that would make any American /​Brit feel right at home. A good selection of meats are available. I would recommend the pulled pork. It was very tasty.
Overall the food was good and reasonably priced. The only real draw back to this establishment is the service.
We sat waiting for someone to take our drinks order for 15 before the waiter approached us. The same applies again we we asked for our bill — And again when we where ready to pay. It’s a real shame, but good service is essential in my opinion.
If you have plenty of time and no other plans I would definitely recommend it.

After you have had your fill of tapas, its time for the American! As in France, you must order more well than you want. My coworker ordered medium steak and it came out rare. My med well burger was med. We sent the steak back but it came back perfect! The quality and flavor of the meat was perfection! The fries were great and the portions were American sized! Excellent meal undervalued.
