We were walking hungry quite late one night to find small interesting restaurants. During trips, if you dare, its the small ones that often have the most memorable dinner. Local food, not a clue what the waitress says and if you will survive the evening. This is exactly one of those restaurants. The entire feeling, you need to be curious to find out if they are open, the insecurity that comes when there are no other guests, and the food was great! The weird thing is there are(at least) two different restaurants in town named Sakura. The other one was larger and had customers, this one is like a family’s baby. Two completely different feelings, and I don’t think they have anything to do with each other. This family baby feels genuine somehow. Like the way you need to crawl to get in, or how they just blocked the big window so you don’t know where you are. All the sudden you’re in a Japanese family basement, and you can feel their hospitality even if we were very late and I guess they wanted to go home. Dinner for two, including 10% tip was about € 25, and the price range was not that big. We survived. I would hit it again.
