I was looking for something fun to do in Lanzarote, and Go Karting San Bartolomé came highly recommended. Deciding to take the plunge and go first thing in the morning. They operate an arrive and drive service which made it really easy to get on track. And Booking is only required if you decide to take advantage of their free pick up service which operates from most major tourist destinations. The Go Kartings themselves look well maintained and there is a wide verity of options available from 160cc Junior Karts all the way to your 320cc Competition Karts. Two seater karts are also available for parents who wish to give there kids a ride, and small electric karts for kids aged between 3 – 6. Each kart is priced differently, and one ticket gets you 8 minutes of track time, and discounts are available if you buy three. The price is very reasonable and is what I would expect to pay and any other track back in the UK. Which leads me on nicely to the track itself. And all I can say is breathtaking. Most go kart tracks are are flat and in my eyes very boring with little to no challenge available. However Go karting San Bartolomé is one of the best tracks I have ever been on. Located on the side of a hill it uses this feature to creat some very interesting and complex corners. This in turn creates positive and negative G forces as you go around the track which can affect your grip and performance of your kart. It truly is a technical track that requires good braking and throttle control, and simply can’t be done flat out. My favourite corner has to be the one on the pit straight. Coming full throttle down the straight into a blind almost hair pin left turn, I’ve estimated the braking point to be at the last green tyre on your right before the pit lane. See if you can get any closer. And finally the staff, I never meet such a happier bunch of guys. The pit crew were really helpful making sure you were happy understand how the kart works and provide you with some handy tips. And John the owner is a cracking chap, and is very proud of his enterprise. And looking at the before and after photos of the track in the terrace area you can understand why. If your not there now, then why aren’t you? Because if you want to have fun and be in the sun at the same time this is a brilliant choice!
