A luxury historical hotel of Costa Brava. Located in the city of s’Agaro, between two bays. It doesn’t have it’s private beach, unfortunately, so you can either go to the public beach which is 2 minutes walk or more further on the other side of the bay, that’s about 15 minutes walk, that one is more private if I can say so, but still a lot of people there seemed to me. But some guests don’t care much about the sea, they just relax at the wonderful outdoor pool. They give you beach towels if you finally decide to go. And you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas from the separate beach club. But don’t expect anything like at least in Cannes or Nice in France. The service at the beach there here much lower. Our room was spacious, refined, with a lovely balcony. By the way, there are 74 rooms all different in size and décor, for instance from Mediterranean elegant style to Imperial. One thing I didn’t completely like in the room was the bed, which is very important part. Was far from high Four Seasons and other of that level hotel standards, pretty rigid and stiff. And that were two mattresses connected, with a slot in the middle. They definitely need to rethink the issue with their mattresses. In the corridors you’ll see lovely antique pieces of furniture. The reception area and the bar look sumptuously and imposing. Delicious breakfast at their restaurant, everybody was sitting outside at the terrace. Rich buffet, you can choose all you want, and there was even Cava. Delicious cheeses, meat cuts, omelet or eggs the way you like them… There are two restaurants by the way. One is great for a light lunch and the second one ideal for dinner: haut cuisine in the presentation of Mediterranean dishes. Or room service, it’s not commonplace, with this exquisite Spanish zest. There is a store downstairs where you can shop for the luxury cloths or gifts. They have SPA of course, but we haven’t tried any of the treatments. Gym is pretty small and comprises only a couple of cardios, weights and another couple machines. I wouldn’t recommend staying inside there: there is a tennis court, jogging and hiking paths, or ride a bike. Better feel this aroma of pines breathing fresh air than stay in the limited and confined space. There is a famous panoramic walking path about 2 km, leading from there to another beach. One of the best hotels of Costa Brava. But still, the mattresses should be correspondingly royal, not that average like they have.

I only came and sat by the pool and sipped on mojitos — so I can’t say anything about the hotel itself. But it was really nice with a great seaside location. It’s a lovely old school hotel, and if you like places furnished with antiques(as I do), this will probably be your place. For those who want the modern room furnishings — I’m not so sure. Super expensive. But perfect location, and pool.
