As I arrived around 4am(local time) from the airport the safe where very nice and answered all the questions I had. They explained all the directions on how to get to my room, the elevator, explained the paper work, etc. they also welcomed me to Madrid which was nice. The staff is very nice, the hotel seems to be very clean. However after a day in my room, I had started sneezing and getting itchy eyes, so I believe the room was a bit dusty, which is why I’m rating it 4 stars. LOCATION: this hotel is across the street from the Royal Palace. I could see it from my hotel window. There are also small little food(jamoneria, cerveza, wine, heladeria, & more) businesses next to it so you don’t have to go too far or worry about getting lost. FREE wifi is always nice to have especially when abroad. Something that really surprised me is when I asked the front counter where I could exchange my dollars to euros and they said they could help me with that. What a relief! The ROOM(one person): had a huge comfy bed, window with a nice view, bathroom was big with a huge bath tube, cable TV, safe box, many outlets, air condition.

I stayed at Hotel Principe Pio because of its location. The hotel is about 5 min walk from the closest train station which has a direct access from the airport. Even tho, we checked into the hotel close to midnight, the check-in process was crowded. The guy at the counter seemed very shady to me and my husband agreed. The room had a good size to it but it was very very old and needs a serious update. There is no safe in the room and no shower curtain for the bathtub/shower for some reason. The doors were so old and loud squeeking. The walls were paper thin that I could here the next room snoring like he was in the same room. I moved somewhere else next day. Seeing other reviews on Unilocal,I wonder if they are talking about the same place.

This hotel is conveniently situated close to the Royal Palace, just opposite the Sabatini Gardens. Comfortable bedrooms and efficient, helpful staff. Not the most lavish breakfast I’ve seen but perfectly adequate for all that, and the breakfast room never seemed busy. I’d certainly stay here again.

3-Star hotel in Madrid, Spain: Great location! We even got to watch the parade after Spain won the 2012 European Cup for soccer.(Let me correct that statement. We were at the parade. There were so many people that we couldn’t even see the road. Still, it was fun being there with everyone wearing their flags, shirts, and hats as they celebrated their country’s victory. My husband even had on his cool shirt that we had purchased a couple of hours earlier which proclaimed Spain’s victory…) ________________________________________________________ We stayed here in June and July, 2012 for a total of 2 days. It is in an excellent location in that it is in walking distance of shopping, the palace, restaurants, etc. The first night, the room was better than the one with our second stay a few weeks later. Breakfast was adequate, the air conditioning worked, front desk was helpful, and the rooms were clean. The second stay, the beds were pretty old and not as comfortable. The location is great and the rooms were adequate so I have no complaints. Comparing this locations with other hotels in Spain, I agree that it is a 3-star hotel. Although the view wasn’t too great, staying on the back side of the hotel is better in that one does not hear the cars on the very busy avenue.(There was also a great ice cream/froyo shop located a few blocks away that was good and very reasonable. Take a right when exiting the door.) If you need your Starbucks instead of the«local» coffee, take a left when exiting the door and walk about seven blocks or so. It is directly across the street from a park. There are also a number of banks on that same busy corner where one may obtain pretty good rates when exchanging money.

No merece la pena Para el precio que tiene y su calidad, creo que hay opciones mucho mejores en Madrid. La situación es algo mala y las habitaciones no son gran cosa.
