Terrible everything. Crappy service, inedible food, really can’t find anything good to say about this place. The service was the worst part — slow, slow, slow, rude and slow. Pass.

No he llegado a comer aquí a la carta, solo he probado el menú del día. Obviamente, entiendo que no sirven el mismo tipo de comida, pero para mí el menú del día es una carta de presentación… y como tal, si tuviera que volver a este lugar por lo que vi probablemente no lo haría. La cosa empezó bien, con una persona muy simpática en la puerta que me llevó al comedor, me dio una mesa al lado de la ventana y, como iba solo, me trajo un periódico. Me senté, vino la camarera y –tras un pequeño malentendido– pedí mis macarrones carbonara y mi pollo al curry. Cuando llegaron los platos, no di crédito: si cobras 13 € por tu menú, al menos que no sea de calidad inferior a lo que puedes encontrar en otros restaurantes de la ciudad. Los macarrones a la carbonara tenían una pinta terrible, nada apetecible, no seguían en absoluto la receta tradicional(panceta y huevo) y venían bañados en una extraña salsa, acompañada de unos trozos de lo que parecía jamón york en barra(?). El pollo con curry supuestamente traía arroz, pero en este caso venía acompañado de un puré extrañísimo, demasiado ácido para ser de patata. No llegué a identificar si era coliflor, o una mezcla de patata y coliflor. Me da pena poner este lugar mal, porque el sitio es bonito, y el personal se esfuerza de verdad en ser tremendamente agradable. Pero la puntilla me la dieron cuando, tras pedir dos veces la cuenta, y esperarla durante unos 15 o 20 minutos, volvieron con mi cambio. Siete euros que vinieron en forma de monedas de 50 céntimos. Me quedé de piedra, la verdad, si me lo hubieran avisado, hubiese pagado con tarjeta.

Bueno, el lugar esta bien pero realmente esperaba mucho más. Es una carta bastante minimalista pero a ese minimalismo le falta sabor y una mejor presentación. Los postres se me quedan muy cortos en sabor.

12 years living in Madrid, two travel books written about Spain, and before all that 10 years in the restaurant industry – and never, ever in my life, have I encountered anyone as rude as the owner of La Comporta. I work nearby and so often stop in after work. I liked their unique tapas and diversity of wines by the glass. However, soon after the new owner took over, he confronted me one evening as said he had something for me to try. I told him I really was fine, not hungry anymore but he insisted. OK, I said. Finally he brought me a bowl of salmorejo. To his credit, it was delicious… but to his shame, he proceeded to charge me 12 euros for it! Not learning from bad experience, I booked an event in their indoor dining room for a networking group, 30 female business owners in Madrid. We planned to have a wine tasting(one of our member makes wine) and we did clear it with the restaurant before the event(2 bottles among all 30 of us). Then, on the night of the event, about 20 minutes into our event, he started working through our group, loudly grabbing things off tables and muttering that we ‘were not spending money and that the room should cost 1000 per night. It got worse from there, he began to insult our members whenever he walked by. And by the time we were to have the wine tasting, he was yelling at us. Thankfully one of the organizers had a stronger disposition than I, she pulled him aside and not sure what she said, but he left us alone. Completely alone, it was impossible to get drinks after that. I can understand if there was some mis-understanding in the booking or maybe if he did not realize that we were having a wine tasting(we booked with his staff, not him directly), however there is no excuse for how he treated us – actually screaming across the restaurant and grabbing our things off the tables. No civility at all. All he had to do was talk to us and we would have done whatever was needed to resolve the problem. Instead, of our group of 30, none of us will be back.

The convivial older gentlemen who owns this spot means well but the food was just MEH. The waiter had bragged that the chef was a former Michelin-starred genius, but we didn’t experience that at all. We only stumbled in because we were looking for another place that, unbeknownst to us, had already closed for business. So we came in with zero expectations and spent quite a buck trying their menu. It was kind of a fail. Even the grilled artichoke app was a bust. And the dining room was waaaaay too HOT; my face was literally burning and I hadn’t had anything to drink. We complained but they said they couldn’t do anything about it. Really? You can turn the damned heater down!

ACTUALIZACIÓN13÷02÷15 Me ha escrito el nuevo propietario informándome de que han cambiado la carta y, sobre todo, los precios. Habrá que ir a probarlo. Mi comentario original voy a dejarlo, pero lo pongo en estado ‘borrador’ jejejejeje OPINION14÷10÷13 Me pregunto en qué momento los empresarios de restauración madrileños hicieron cónclave y se dieron a algún opiaceo raro para haber tantos sitios con precios que no se ajustan ni al momento, ni al lugar ni a nada que no sea llenarse los bolsillos robando a los incautos que decidan entrar en su local. Nunca había entrado en Comporta hasta hoy y no creo que vuelva. Entiendo que la esquina de General Oraa con Serrano sea muy privilegiada, pero no es la terraza del Mandarín de París ni hay vistas sobre Manhattan. De hecho, lo que se ve allí por los ventanales no es precisamente para presumir. ¿Cómo se comprende que hayamos pagado 4,60 € por un botellín de agua y un café solo? ¿En serio tendrán arrojo de quejarse de la crisis y de que la ley antitabaco les jodió el chiringuito? ¿Realmente piensan que con esos precios van a ganar dinero? Así estaban sus dos terrazas y su interior a las 18:30 de la tarde, que sólo éramos cuatro clientes. Eso sí, el interior muy bonito con la decoración rústica y las sillas simplonas. Lástima que el precio te invite a no volver.
