La Gondola

Again one of the better meals we had during our holiday to Lanzarote and the Playa Blanca area.
I had the Spaghetti Carbonara on our first visit, which was fine. But I think the pizzas are a better choice from their menu, I had one on our second visit.
The staff were probably the nicest, friendliest and most genuine too, of our whole trip.
The restaurant is laid out well, with tables not too on top of each other. The tables were also laid well, with nice table clothes etc. Clean facilities too.
The coffee was excellent, which is not surprising for an Italian restaurant.
Recommended.

Leckere Pizzen und Pasta kann man dort bekommen und die Keller sind zuvorkommend.

Ate here twice in early July 2011. Waiters were welcoming and polite both times, if a little inattentive. First night we both had pizzas, wine and beer, which were very tasty. So we decided to go back for our final night and be slightly more adventurous with the food. I had octopus as a starter (it was a huge dish) and my other half had bruschetta. For mains we had goat and a chicken dish. Unfortunately everything was absolutely swimming in olive oil there was probably half an inch of it filling the bottom of our plates. I love olive oil but this was just too much.

La Gondola is situated on the seafront of Playa Blanca, just along from the harbour. There are many restaurants along this stretch of promenade mostly catering for the British market with steaks, pizzas, burgers etc. La Gondola is similar in style but has a slightly more refined menu with more of an emphasis on Italian dishes. I ate at several restaurants here during my holiday and this is the only one I can remember the name of because it was the best of the bunch. A charming waiter made us feel very welcome and after a simple garlic bread starter my main course of canneloni was excellent, nicely presented and with a real depth of flavour. My dining companions both opted for steak, one with pepper sauce and one with gorgonzola sauce, big juicy steaks arrived cooked to perfection and were both given the thumbs up. None of the restaurants along this stretch of the promenade could be viewed as being particularly special but this one was undoubtedly the best of the bunch that I tried — and it is a lovely location to sit outside and enjoy a meal whilst watching the world go by.
