Pera Batlla

Best. Meal. Ever. Drive out of your way. Ask directions when you get lost. Whatever you do, if you are in northern Spain, find your way to Pera Batlla. You will be amazed. The food is beyond delicious, the setting — in an old mill in the countryside — is idyllic, the staff are attentive, helpful, multi-​lingual and patient with your efforts to speak their language. The roasted vegetables are fresh from their garden, the onion soup tastes like heaven on a spoon, and the calamari was tender, moist and delicious. We only wish we could have eaten more, but we (two adults) shared these three starters and were stuffed — but not too stuffed for the amazing desserts. Our only regret is that we ate there on our last night and so couldn’t go back. We will not make that mistake again! Do not miss it. .. .
