Sweet spot, if you can find it. It doesn’t seem to have an address, but that also means it’s in the middle of nowhere. If you’re looking for isolated and relaxing, this is it. We stayed in the main building, the probable old farmhouse. Our room was nicely updated and had a patio. Kind of small and no TV, so not the place to take the kids, which is a bonus for me. It had a private bathroom that unfortunately wasn’t inside the room. Odd, but somebody didn’t have to rip the building apart to retrofit it. Our room was right outside where the bathrooms are, so if you stay here, pay attention to the floor map. There’s a restaurant, but we were here for a wedding so we didn’t get to try the menu. There’s a pool if you’re into that and a playhouse or clubhouse or whatever you wanna call it with an honor bar. There may have been a TV in there. And there are two hotel dogs. The little one is friendlier than the big one.

The website boasts: «Masia La Palma is surrounded by large gardens where you can enjoy the nature all day long.» And that’s exactly what we did. Even after an excellent breakfast, even after a dip in the pool, even after checking out, we just couldn’t leave, hanging around all day in the nature until the dread of driving in the dark kicked us in the pants. My boyfriend and I attended the wedding reception for my brother and my new Catalonian sister-in-law at La Palma, and stayed the night of. Although weddings are not the mainstay of the hotel, they did an excellent job of keeping our sometimes unruly bunch happy. Food, drink, music, service were all great. The hotel itself is a converted Catalan farmhouse situated in a partially wooded area, not quite forest or farmland, a bit of both. The rooms are very nice, although most have a bathroom outside the room, it is your own private bath with key. Our room — Lledoner, a standard — was small, but had a large private balcony and was just two steps from its private bath. Some of the other rooms were down the hall so you’d have to walk a little to use your loo. There are also private casitas(casetes in Catala) by the pool. It is a beautiful, quiet place. The kind of place you go to completely relax, and maybe get your head together. Not an easy or quick drive to the usual tourist destinations, but I would highly recommend as a honeymoon spot, or a long-weekend for those whose live in Europe. They also have a Facebook page:
