Restaurant El Celler de Can Serra Fax

I ate here in September, my first night in Empuriabrava, after walking around the town, and am so happy I did. As far as I can tell, they serve classic Catalan cuisine, which was just what I wanted. I posted many pictures of the food we ordered and all of it was delicious! The items that I enjoyed most were the melon soup, the leg of lamb and the fig ice cream. The melon soup was served cold as you might expect. By adding crispy bits of Iberico ham, the chef created the perfect marriage of sweet and savory. The finishing touch of the crème freshe added a tanginess that made it perfect. The leg of lamb was so tender and tasted like it had cooked for hours, with a gravy that can only be achieved with slow, long cooking. The fig ice cream was such a perfect finish to the rest of the dinner. It was smooth and creamy, with a wonderful swirl of a fig purée, topped by sliced almonds. I would have gladly eaten here every night of my stay and have it bookmarked for my next visit.
