Gorgeous villa a little off the beaten path but easy to get to downtown, this hotel is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. The spa is first rate. Maricel looks like an old palace, but it was built in 1948 to look that way. Back in the day, movies stars and royalty stayed here. It closed in the 80s and then reopened in 2002 with expanded rooms. Most rooms have terraces and ocean views. There is an infinity pool, a bar and cabanas that are busy in season. You can get massages in treatment nooks overlooking the water. There is a restaurant that serves incredible breakfasts and lunches. The main spa facility also has a separate business center for retreats and events. That area accessible by tunnel is mid century modern, but the overall aesthetic is Mallorcan and neo-classical. The staff are friendly and discreet from the front desk to the restaurant servers to the cheerful maids who do a very thorough job maintaining the rooms. You even have a pillow library to pick just the right one for a good night’s sleep. The bathroom is white marble with a soaking tub and dual handheld /rain shower. We stayed in #14, one of the best on the property.
